EAC at it again.
So like a few days ago, EAC is giving me some error.
This time I took a screenshot.
Naturally, I've looked at the incriminated file and did an sha256sum of it:

I asked Steam to verify the cache and after the operation, I've looked at the sha256sum again:

I'm almost certain EAC will not complain anymore when I'll restart the game.
These issues have started only a few days ago.
What's going on?

I’ve had something similar happen around once a week where it says kicked due to EAC something something (I’ve never changed or modified anything in the game) I update my steamdeck or restart it and it seems to fix itself but not sure what is causing it in the first place. I’m scared I’ll lose all my progress one of these days without knowing what is causing it (I literally play vanilla on steamdeck - no added files and I don’t tinker with settings at all except for in game settings

Yes, same.
I'm not using any modification, filter, …
It's the plain install.
The most annoying part is that the file EAC points to wasn't modified after verifying the files yet it didn't complain anymore when I've restarted the game.
(Like the Steamdeck, I'm also using Proton, v9 for DBD)

honestly I wouldn’t even know how to verify a file etc lol steamdeck does have desktop mode but I rarely go into except on a couple occasions to do random non game related stuff (and certainly not into any game files - that would terrify me lol)

It's not that different from Windows.
You switch to the desktop mode (KDE/Plasma) then you can open Steam and use it exactly like you would on Windows.
Steam→Library→right-click the game: Properties →Installed Files →Verify the integrity of game files.

thanks for the tip! I’ll keep that in mind in case the usual restart doesn’t work 🤞
