Hook Respawn + Closeness
Why are hooks respawning if the hooks are significantly closer together? I thought the hook respawn was so there were no dead zones- but they've made all the hooks closer, so how would there be a dead zone?

It typically happens in corner areas. Alot of times if a survivor goes down in the corner, there's only 1 possible hook to get to. It can similarly be problematic in spots like downstairs in the preschool. If the basement doesn't spawn down there, you have to make sure to break the doors to even have a CHANCE of reaching the closest hook outside since there's no hooks inside the school.
I also imagine they want to have SOME counterplay to sabo as well. If I pick up a survivor and see their teammate running to the hook early enough, I should have a different hook to walk to instead. That 1 hook shouldn't be the ONLY option.

you should be able to switch to another on your way but i really don't think you should be able to make it to another hook after having your primary one sabotaged and hitting the saboteur, assuming you had to walk a bit to reach the hook as well.

Way back when, they had a system that made sure that every hook is at least some minimum distance away from every other one, including the basement. Given that I’ve seen hooks spawn right next to the basement, I’m guessing that system’s either been abandoned, or has been borked for a good while now.

Probably their way of addressing slugging. Lots of killers claim they'd slug because there were no hooks around. I don't think that was entirely true personally. But yeah, that's my theory anyway.

Absolutely, that's why I specified "if I see them early enough". Some people make it too obvious what they're up to.

yes sometimes you see what's coming miles away. but in one of my recent games on dds someone sabod a hook, got hit and killer just hooked me on another like 10-15 meters away lol

Yeah, that's dumb unless he had perks like mad grit or agitation.

If they made it so respawned hooks that a survivor was sacrificed on are no longer scourge hooks I would have no issue. Pain res + tunneling is extremely effective. Without that, it doesn't really matter all that much if hooks come back unless you're playing a sabo build, in which case bring stuff specifically for that (breakdown, add-on, saboteur)
