Skull Merchant. Knight requires more thought in placing his guards, is punished more for placing them poorly, has more counterplay, and has a less threatening power in general because basic looping skills means easily outrunning the guards if Knight isn't chasing alongside them.
Skull Merchant is walk to loop, push button, repeat.

nither! both was overly hate cause they was born in the most hated meta ever (eruption/COB) with a kit design perfectly for it. Knight power pretty interesting to utilize especially now that u can't instant drop a guard. Skull merchant pretty easy to use but in my opinion she not intolerable to face/use.
The worst two design characters go to the hag and twins by a landslide.

Any skull merchant and Knight I run into play as sweaty as possible whenever I play survivor so I despise both of them.

Honestly, I don't really get it.
While SM is getting changes soon, I don't entirely mind facing them as they are right now. Same with Knight, especially since he was kneecapped and avoiding him is very simple once you know how to manipulate the AI. And when I play them, I tend to be more chill and still get called sweaty and whatnot, regardless of the outcome.

Skull Merchant - Too much stuff going on in the kit, can play way too passively compared to every single killer in the game and get decent results by just running people down, drones are poorly designed still.
One specific thing I'll say is even if you know how the scanning of the drones work it's still bullshit in every sense that she can just drop a drone around the corner and if it's out of your LoS it will tag you if the scan hits you - The only thing currently I'd change about her is if it's scanning just show it's scanning. It's bullshit that out of every killer in the game this one has to have arbitrarily obscure things in game that can RNG the chase even without the SM knowing it's going to happen.
Stop hiding the scan lines if the drone is active - The drones on their own are already stupid and skillless in every sense. Making them have more steps to read whether they are active is stupid.
The Knight could be designed better but I couldn't really say they are problematic outside of maps like Dead Dawg when 3'gen was an issue.

fr, and also, Knight and SM are far more interactive in terms of counterplay than Huntress. Like please tell me how is it fun to be permazoned by Huntress constantly winding up a hatchet during the chase. Wraith is at least more interactive, agree in regards of Spirit. Ohh and, let's add one more killer on the list, Pyramid Head, especially M2 faking.

They're my two least favorite Killers to play. I'm excited for the Knight changes though which should make him feel much more dynamic and fluid. I hope they can put Skull Merchant in the same direction. She feels like she has no identity with the way her power works currently and it's not very engaging.

both of these +1, why do we have to say that killers are “ani fun” and “brain dead”? Are we seriously that insecure that we have to call people brain dead for just playing a game the way they want to play? That’s really sad.

I think players dislike Skull Merchant more. Yesterday, I played ten matches with Skull Merchant with a full chase build (PWYF, STBFL, Batteries Included, Rapid Brutality) and in five matches one or more survivors dced/hook kill right at the start but eight of them complained about me. The funny part is that players don't complain about realistic and understandable points but that it's Skull Merchant. Some said "boring chess game" or "that's so boring". They really complained that I would be old 3-Gen Merchant even though I played a full chase build. When I play Knight, survivors neither dc/hook kill nor complain brainless that often. It still happens but it would also happen when I had played a different killer.
Year, I think players dislike Sull Merchant more but many of them for the wrong reasons and with no braincells in their head.

If you are getting perma zoned that is the biggest skill issue on the planet. You move 23% faster than she does when holding a hatchet. JUST DODGE LMAO 😂 you really can’t loop one of the easiest to loop killers in the game?!

i used to hate knight but he really isn't that bad, give him a try. sm on the other hand though… yes let me clear the path i'm gonna run to of 4 drones for, 45 seconds. it will work just fine surely.

They aren't pinhead, pig, legion, doctor or literally any other killers that doesn't require any input while immensely slowing down (yet not exactly winning) games

Huntress only needs her hatchets' size to be reduced. SM is a complete failure of game design from start to finish and that stands true for every of her 3 iterations.

Knight and Merchant were so bad that they had to nerf every other killer be introducing their half assed little '3 gen' mechanic to stop killers from kicking gens because it supposedly held the game hostage. They conveniently did nothing about Survivors holding a game hostage but ya know. Baby steps whenever BHVR is involved.

There where people that enjoyed the killers and didnt play that way, you know?
I discourage you from generalizing the playerbase. Im a 2k+ hour pig main and have never used a screaming build for example.

tbh, although I can’t say I am personally a fan of either I have never hated them and the one thing I would say is that I’d urge caution to anyone throwing about terms like ‘brain dead plays’ - regardless how we might feel about a power or character, I don’t think it’s ever good to belittle or insult people who ply them - who knows why people choose the characters they do but it can’t be nice hearing constant negative stuff about them.

What is y'all's deal with these killers? With Skull Merchant, I can at least see where you're coming from. But what's wrong with Knight? He chases you, or his guard chases you and you grab the banner. What's so difficult about him? I think you've bought into the whole "multiple killers at once" idea, when he's really not that. He's more like 2 halfs of a killer in 1. So I don't see the bad design, except in that he doesn't have the tools he needs to get survivors. Not anymore.
