Map offerings are problematic

I think we all know the feeling when we see the killer picking a map. It is the same feeling killers get when seeing offerings for survivor sided maps.
In my early days I thought it was a tool to see more maps because the matchmaking doesn't feel very versatile sometimes.
Right now it feels more like a war. If I pick a map as killer half the matches never start because someone dc'ed. If I deny the survivor map offering with Sacrificial Ward some dc too. If we get on the killer map we get destroyed. If we go to the survivor map the killer has a hard time.

I started to bring a Sacrificial Ward into every match because I am so tired of this. Especially flash light specialist seem to love to bring an offering. The matches where no map offerings are brought are very rare lately and it never is a neutral map its always either a heavily survivor sided map or a map that's really benefitial for the killer.

So overall …. nobody really likes map offerings, well at least if youre not on the side who brought it.
Reworking the problematic maps could be a way but honestly im not the biggest fan of it because chaos is good for a game and rng cannot be flat and fair all the time. On the other hand removing map offerings from the game does sound extreme.

So is there something we can do?

I don't really care if people burn map offerings but it's always autohaven, withered isle, ormond, or eyrie offerings when i'm playing killer. Very little variation from those 4. In my past 20 or so games i see a map offering for one of those about 70-80% of the time, actually was debating on burning sacrificial wards.

Map offering are one of the most toxic things this game has. There is no scenario where it doesnt turn your math into a toxic sweat fest. If you are killer and you play against a swf that burns a map offering you already know the kind of mathc you will face. If you are a survivor and you see the killer using midwich, dead dog salloon, or an indoor map, you already know it will be a pain that match, some stealth killer with disgusting addons, and you have like a 5% chances of wining that match as solo q survivor (being that 5% a generous hatch that appears behind you). Your teammates are probably gonna kill themselves on hook, happens almost every match where you see a killer usin a map offering. Its always the same. Nothing but toxicity. This devs dont learn.

I don't personally have an issue with map offerings. Yeah, sure, typically when someone is using a map offering it is with the intention to get some kind of advantage. But that's what we're doing with perks, add ons, and items as well right? As a killer, I'd rather see a map offering over 4 offerings that make your hooks more spread out. As a survivor when the killer brings an offering, I'm just curious what the strategy for the killer is going to be. Usually killers seem to bring indoor maps so they can take advantage of the restricted line of sight such as scratched mirror Myers or they have some kind of terror radius build. Either way, I'm fine with it so long as it's not every game. And I would say that it is fairly uncommon to see a map offering. If map offerings ever became meta then I'd be in favor of a change though.

    I despise offerings.

I'd like to see them out of the game.

In the mean-time I retaliate against bad offering by playing punitively.

Map offerings should work in reverse in that they prevent the realm from being able to be selected. That way it's still random, but if you're fed up with getting a certain map you can force it out of rotation.

Map offerings should only work this way:

1—> Map Offerings slightly increases the desired map like 10%

    or

2—> Map Offerings Bans the Map which was used

    or just remove it completly!😴

i don't find map offering problematic. the main map that i think they should address is badham preschool for killer. it is way too strong and makes map offering for that map not fun.

other map offerings where killer is at downside is usually a game balance problem with the killer being too weak.

i don't really mind map offerings, honestly. if people want to play on a specific map, let them

i don't blame people for wanting to bring maps anyway

Imo only people who play scratched mirror myers should be able to put map offerings (i know i know, you have wallhacks, but your movement speed is so slow that a survivor can literally keep you busy for the entire match by circling around a single loop due to bigger hitboxes that the killer has so... Unless you are aganist newcomers that play for the first time you'll NEVER catch them in open maps). Aside this exception map offerings should be DELETED from the game generally speaking since they promote also unfun games (i have a rule for map offerings: as killer if i see them i'll tunnel to death no matter what since you indirectly asked for It, while as survivor i'll stick to generators and escape as soon as possibile in order to deny points... Tbag bonus if said killer played like an ######### from the start)

Map Offerings are not the problem, it is the reason why they are sometimes used which is problematic. That Survivors use a Badham-Offering is not a problem at all, the problem is that Badham is so strong for Survivors. The Midwich-Offering used by Nurse is also not a problem, the problem is the design failure Nurse which is still allowed to be in the game.

And I think Map Offerings should stay, simply because sometimes players want to have a bit control. I can totally understand that Survivors dont really want to end up on Haddonfield or Coldwind and would rather use a MacMillan-Offering or something like that. Or that Killers dont want to end up on Maps which are bad for their build. I also used a MacMillan-Offering a few days ago, because I got Hawkins, RPD and Lerys in a row on Billy.

Ideally, they would be completely retired, however I don't see that happening. The next best thing would be to change them so that instead of sending you to a map, they prevent you from being sent to a map. That way they still have a purpose but no longer allow one player to pick a map and base their entire build around it.

personally I’ve started using map offerings recent because I’m bored shitless if Coldwind and Ormond. They seem to be the majority of maps I get if I don’t use an offering.

Since they removing the yellow mori-offerings and give us 1Mio BP as an exchange, they can also remove map offerings and give us BP for them. Otherwise, they should rework map offerings to decrease the change to go to the dropped realm. Map offerings are just unhealthy and toxic for the game. They add nothing positive to it.
