Why does nobody talk about how overpowered Oni is on pc

People do, he has very high snowball potential but there are stronger killers in general that don't require a slow early game.

This is why killer mains can't take survivor's concerns serious, ever. Posts like that

I’m a killer main wym 🤣 it’s an obvious advantage with pc
9 -
Oni sits at around 58% for killrates as of 8 months ago.
Console players must be holding him back, eh? /s2 -
because he isn't overpowered. i'd say he is middle of the road. very middle. i think he would be higher tier if he wasn't punished for slugging as hard and he didn't burn out/run out of red orbs on the map for using his power. he has potencial to be top 3 killer but his numbers aren't there.

They should add 180 flick to consoles instead of removing it from pc, imo
8 -
Flicks are kinda unheard of with a controller
1 -
And I bump just into everything when playing him … anything, BUT survivors. I know, I know, thats definitely a skill issue, but I don`t enjoy his playstyle enough that I would spend hours on hours on playing him. As you said, he isn`t bad, but he still needs lots of practise and isn`t just plug and kill. You can't automatically snowball with him, you still need to hit home this angry swings of his kanabo/tetsubo!

They should let console players have the option of using keyboard and mouse.

I've reported the exploit that lets PC players break his turn rate cap multiple times, but nothing ever gets done about it. Because Blight flicks weren't balanced but somehow 1 shot downs with the same bug are fine. Add the slugging playstyle on top and its just a boring slog of a match against him.
8 -
I mean you could make this "argument" for every killer since mouse and keyboard is better than controller for killer
3 -
Yeah been asked for so many times over the years
1 -
You really can't compare a genuine exploit to simple differences in input methods & a lack of controller settings that would make so many more killers playable on controller.
6 -
Controllers are good for generlized movement and locomotion, pc is good for fast turns and precision. Of course a character who can massively benefit from fast turns and precision will be better on pc. You can say the same for, Nurse, Huntress, Blight, Billy, Bubba, clown, deathslinger, trickster, ect

Oh I'm not denying that Oni 180 tech should be patched, im simply stating that OP's lack of description makes the argument seem like it is only about keyboard and mouse
3 -
100% you can really tell the difference with an Oni who’s on PC and Controller.
3 -
i mean, on controller it´s possible to do some 30 degree flicks as nemesis, and 45 ones as pyramid head, but i think they could just increase his turn cap or something like that, the only reason i don´t play oni is because i know a random pc player will always perform better than me, because the killer is literally stronger in MnK :/
3 -
No no, we need to take the conversation away from generic MnK vs controller talk. Oni in particular is not functioning as intended. Here's some historical context, the 2nd change they made after the original PTB version of him (as the 1st change made him pretty bad for everyone for awhile since it was pushed to live right before their winter break):
Oni is not officially supposed to be able to turn more than 90 degrees during a slam. BHVR has, for whatever reason, decided to ignore that people found out he can. For years. Despite patching Chucky's 180 (which at least from the end user's perspective, operates similarly to Oni's power) out fairly quickly. And like yes, Oni would still be better on MnK regardless of what they do about the bug/exploit/tech/whatever, because the absolute input of a mouse is superior for that type of power. Obviously. Like the only thing that would make them similar is if they made a gyro-like flick stick option available on controller, which is asking a lot considering they haven't even given (and probably will never give) us other basic, more fundamental settings.
But AFAIK they have never taken another official stance on the matter after Janick discussed it all those years ago, and it's one of the most egregious cases of them completely ignoring a mechanical flaw that makes a character significantly more powerful when using one input method over the other.

There is another thread about a similar subject. Playing on console in general is harder than PC. It's a common complaint. A killer can block a pallet on PC but not on Console. There are stark differences and was actually brought up in the last survey about trying to fix console. Oni goes in straight line and trying to turn him is as of sliding on ice in a car, he's also slow. Blight, Wesker, nurse are the same way. Then you add the new killers with a more complex control form and it's just so overwhelming. There is so much more fluidity of movement on a PC than console. PC can hug corners and console you have crash interference. It's kind of ironic because the game started on console and now it caters to PC more.

If you want a post in a different direction then make your own post thats in a different direction

all but the truth crazy how PC has many things than console doesn’t make sense that we cannot use text chat.
1 -
What? This game was originally designed and released for PC. It didn’t come out on console til about a year later. IMO that’s why MnK will always be a superior control scheme to use, it was literally designed for it, and I assume that’s how all the devs play the game.

The OP was vague enough that I don't feel what I've said takes the discourse in a wildly different direction.

Leave my boy alone
0 -
Have you ran your boy on a controller?
2 -
hes only op cause his Flick techs let pc players get bs instant down hits around loops and objects you patch that he'll be balanced
2 -
Survivors when any killer has an ounce of skill expression. “Get rid of it”
4 -
Billy also dose this mid charge. had one make 4 90% turns in the hospital to get a down in a shower stall.
1 -
welp people want billy gutted anyway now that hes good again

Nothing will ever be good enough for them

i have had games as Oni where i activate my ability, down survivor in 1 dash, 2 dash 3 dash, extremely fast. like 20 second chase and i pick them up and hook them. I have tried playing for hooks as Oni and i'd have games where 2 survivor still escape where i got like 9 hooks.
I have also tried classical slugging Oni where you slug people where i'd continuously down 2 survivors every single demon fury and still I'd still have games where 2 people escape. i don't think i have ever had any games as Oni where all 4 survivors escaped or 3 people escaped after i got good with him but i don't think he's consistent killer. he's hit or miss.
sometimes you can lose like 4 gens as Oni, survivor make like 2-3 mistakes back to back, you down 3 people with Oni demon fury, you find last person down them, and you win. Oni's power is like NOED. he sometimes win games that look impossible to win and i think that is why people rate him highly because you can pull wins that were originally losses but it is more of mixture of luck and correct play.
I think strong Oni play is learning to proxy camp hooks effectively with his power and like tunneling people with demon fury at correct time but i find Oni to be SIGNIFICANTLY less fun to play if played like this. as a result, i don't enjoy playing Oni as much these days. I don't like being forced to proxy camp to get wins with his ability vs high-level teams. I like being able to use his ability proactively and pressure the map but at same time, i don't think he's good enough to do that and win consistently if your good at him and make like flawless plays. You have to use strategy with his ability to have any form of consistency vs top teams. that strategy takes fun away from him which is why i think he's overrated. when i play vs strong Oni's players, they tend to have same type of matches where they're like barely getting 2 kills vs like soloq survivors. If Oni needed less strategy, less proxy camping and could win by proactively pressuring the map vs pinnacle top survivors, i'd rate him much higher of a killer. some people just rate him off proxy-camping, slugging people near hook and tunneling people off-hook as high-tier and i guess that's alright if you enjoy that type of gameplay.

I mean the killer side ain’t much better lol
1 -
how’s that any skill?

Killers when skill expression requires something other than throwing their mouse across the room: "Get rid of it"
3 -
Probably because he isn't over powered on PC.
0 -
me when i think everythingg in life is so simple and straightforward
2 -
Because its fairly simple:
Oni is in fact, not overpowered on PC
3 -
Oni is one of my favorite killers to go against and even when I can confirm it's a PC player he's not even close to being OP. He's easy to counter if you know how to play around structures/windows. He should be very bottom of the list of "killers that deserve to be complained about".
1 -
Unironically probably true considering killer is significantly easier on mouse and keyboard. I immediately assume anyone who thinks killer is hard is playing on a controller. The kill rates would probably go up at least 5% if console killers didn't exist.
0 -
I mean, Oni isn't OP, even with 180 degree flicks. He has a rather big weakness in that he's very dependent on how the early game goes. Way more than any other killer, I'd say.
0 -
it's funny thing that people stand up and say "Oni is OP because you can do 180 flicks" while it's literally giving him power too early in general that will basically screw your team, regardless of the player knowing to 180 or not.
As you said, he depends on how survivors play in the early game, if he gets his power for the first time too late, game is over for him. I mean, even in tournaments, he averages at 6 stages
1 -
Probably because Oni isn't overpowered, given that he has probably the 3rd worst early-game of the entire roster, with only Trapper and Hag having slower starts
He loses to predropping extremely hard due to his ######### early-game, healing being extremely quick nowadays with perks like Reactive Healing, Strength in Shadows, and Resurgence makes him even weaker, and his power, while strong, has a limited duration before he has go to back to vacuuming blood
He's still good despite that, but overpowered? Absolutely not

DBD and gaming on PC in general is an advantage. People aren't forced to play DBD on console.
