Much better event than before. Happy Halloween!

I know it's practically the same event as before - but now the smoke bomb + ghosts that can ACTUALLY damage someone - Muuuch better.

I mean - you still need to waste time by going through a portal and convert the energy you've collected - but now it's quite worth it. (I still think these portals are just another free\cheap way for survivor players to prolong chases)

Previous year - it was just a time waste, these ghosts (both sides) were practically useless + time consuming. This year - I don't have complaints other than these portals.

And the fact - that I'm no longer forced to play the event is just a chefs kiss (Yes, the previous one was added into the main game mode) - so thank you, game developers!

P.s: - Guys, can you stop sweating like a stressed athletes?! It's the EVENT! Stop tunneling and stop gen rushing, do the event, explore, kick some pumpkins, and have a great, fun and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

With love: ❤️💣️💥

I really love the respawning pumpkins. The improved void realm looks and feels amazing, to say nothing of the new powers, and it's been really cool to watch the void event evolve over the past three years… but the pumpkins alone are enough to make this one for me. So many bloodpoints on offer, and the killer doesn't have an advantage on collecting all these things anymore. Great times.

I just wish engaging with the event stuff wasn't so reliant on the other team also choosing to engage with the event versus sweating. Which I guess is nothing new (I still fondly remember snowmen, as much havoc as they caused), but it's not very time-effective if the other team isn't messing around.

The smoke bomb completely obscures the killer's vision. They can't see you unless they're close enough to touch you. Throw it in a tight corridor and it's seriously confusing. I've lost a few chases to it in areas with no resources. It's a great item, the problem is that you have to make a big diversion to get it and that diversion isn't worth it unless the killer is either pretty bad or also wasting time noodling around doing event things.

In a smoke? I couldn't hear a single thing - all sounds and noises were muffled like crazy.

I would love this event if they fixed the the bugs/glitches or used their Killswitch as intended. The event itself is good but like, everything else just kind of taints it for me, which kind of sucks.

The event is buggy and again killer sided. But this was to be expected from the devs. It's a shame…

They can hear you, but use it in the right spot and the killer will run into walls trying to follow your sound. Or bring Iron Will. It's very good… though it's much stronger on indoor maps, and maps with tight corridors, than very exposed maps. So far it's messed me up bad on Badham and Hawkins, and it's got good use spots in the Void Realm because you can trick the killer into falling off ledges, but it didn't really do anything when I faced survivors with it on Ormond.

Wdym "again killer sided"? Have you played on a previous one?

I played - it was solely survivor sided event - killers didn't have time to go through a portal to make some useless ghosts just standing idle on a map as a suppose to be traps that killers have no control over where to place them.

The portals were abused by the survivors like a literal cheap\free chase prolong\teleport on other areas of the map.

You didn't like the event and wanted to play a normal game mode? Well bad news for you coz the even was TIED to the main game mode, so you forced play it - or wait until the event is over.

How is the event is killer sided when these portals exist? Survivors are still can use them to prolong the chases\free teleports for them and killers are still need to waste time to make some ghosts and it takes more than 10 sec.

I don't get what are you saying.

    • If the Killer isn't immediately on you, but still chasing you, you can enter the void to break line of sight with them/make them stop and interact with the void portal, and there's a lot of pallets/loops/drop downs (for balanced landing) that might not have already been used/act as a supplementary pallet zone. (You can also fake-out entering the portal/use it as a LoS blocker by going through the energy).
    • You can make yourself more mobile around the map, but this is honestly down to RNG portal spawns (I do hope they do a minimum distance between portals, and traveling salesman it to find the zones best suited to create the most distance between portals outside of the void) and being able to figure out in short order which portal correlates to which location, but that can be a bit tricky (would love it if there was some semblance of indicator as to the immediate surrounding area both looking into, and looking out of, a portal. (maybe being inside the blue portal zone overlays two cameras: inside and outside of the portal, could be used to check for killers using them as hook camp tools too)
    • You can deposit energy there for a chase disengage/obfuscation tool, best acquired in conjunction with using the portals as a means of mobility across the map or as a pallet resource zone.
    • Bait: The Killer knows your general location, and could be tempted to enter the portals to chase you if they're not currently in chase with someone else. Though this one is less likely to be a thing as time goes on as Killers would just ignore the bait if survivors are already planning on hiding inside the void (could counteract that by triggering Killer instinct for a few seconds on all survivors in the void when the Killer enters it)

I swear to God I hate pointing fingers, but there was 1 guy just a moment ago literally said: - "This is the worst event because I got 3 genned by a Legion". - Like what is this event have to do with the Legion 3 genned you?

It's like players hating on the event for the completely out of place things.

When I played killer I couldn't see anything in the void, at least auras

I'm on console and the smoke is actually blinding when I play killer. When I played survivor and used the smoke the killer isn't phased at all? Is that because of shaders? I'm honestly curious, because it seems unfair to console killer player that can't adjust.

I'm on PC and I find the smoke plenty disorienting. I would imagine the effectiveness varies depending on whether the killer has headphones to sound track you, how well they have the map memorized and can play it blind, and where you used the smoke bomb. In some places, the bomb won't do you any good because the killer can just go around it, or can only possibly go straight. I find it's most effective to use at enclosed corners or other paths with jinks.

Not gonna lie, I actually hate the smoke bombs. I run Lightborn in all my games because I don't find not being able to see anything all that fun. Don't use headphones either, so it's a lose lose for me.

I really hope this doesn't get made into a perk.

I have already played a couple games and I am loving it so far!

This is the first Halloween event that I am actually around to play since The Eternal Blight, and if the others were like this one then I think I am starting to regret the long breaks I took from DBD.

This is so much better than the modifiers and other events this year (except maybe Blood Moon, because that one was cool). I can definitely say that I am satisfied.
