Haunt Question

Me and some friends have recently been being basically insta-downed by killers using their haunt and basic attack at the same time. Is there a way to avoid this as survivor?

    Not really there is on CD from pressing Q for haunt and M1 in melee range.

    The counter is to hope they miss when you're running around in their face like a monkey. Otherwise it can't go over windows/pallets, so there's that.
