Allow survivors/killer to skip the finisher mori.

Basically just the title - the finisher mori is meant to represent the end of the game, and I've seen the moris 100s of times. I feel like just being able to skip it to get into the next game a little quicker would feel nice without losing BP for either side. It doesn't even necessarily need to say the survivor/killer turned into a bot, but it's not like anyone is missing anything by saving 5-10 seconds.

No, i think this is exactly what I'm talking about! I agree completely. I'm not so much here for the cinematics and immersion. I'm here to get my BP, have fun chases, and get onto the next match!

It would be so nice if every killer would get one or two alternative moris, so that we would get some variety.

Maybe this would also be a fun opportunity to take a page out of the mortal combat book and introduce something like Friendship moves, maybe reskinned as "Sudden Mercy", where the killer shows some mercy in the last second and tosses the survivor down the hatch that spawns right next to them.

Instead of DC, skipping the cinematic would be best.

But as mentioned by @TragicSolitude, are you sure you want to take the risk adding an additional point of failure in the game?

It's only 13 seconds. It's not slower than the usual time it takes to get hooked, as noted by @Brimp. It's also way faster than getting hatch.

A little while ago, someone has suggested the recent mori change could be a precursor selling new moris in the shop.

That'd be something I may spend some money on. It'd be way better than cosmetics IMHO.

I’ve heard people recommend this with bringing change to the yellow, green, and red moris - with yellow having a long cinematic mori, the green mori being an average between the two, and the red mori being quick 1-2 second kills, and I really wanted to see it when they reworked moris.

you say it’s not serious yet people dc at the slightest inconvenience(including end game while people are trying to achieve the finisher mori). it’s clear this game has a lot of QOL issues and any small thing would make everyone’s experience better than what we have now. also what better time than when they’re already in the process of changing the mori system.

    You dont want your points?

  • MrLollersnakes
    MrLollersnakes Member Posts: 32

This is assuming people are allowed to leave and keep their points. Everyone should be allowed to leave (killer or survivor) during the animation without losing their points.

Sorry I should make a correction on what I mean on OP - thank you.

It's only a few seconds, it doesn't waste that much time

I personally don't see this as even a slight issue, especially not while the potential to be slugged for 4 minutes with no way out exists if a killer desperately wants a 4k. Now that is a time waster I wish they would finally deal with…

I don't see why a Killer would want to DC during a mori. They don't HAVE to do the mori if they don't want to see the animation…

For the sheer fact that they've already finished the game. Why after I finish a fun last chase, do I need to sit through the kill animation? I really don't care about the animation at all, I just want to start queuing for the next match, and hooking genuinely takes more time than the mori in most cases.

As for this, the point of the post was to add a simple change at a relevant time considering moris were just changed and more specifically point out something that they could do quickly without requiring a whole mechanical change that might be required out of solving the slugging issue.

There's a small chance they misjudge, and you break out and bumble onto hatch. That's still something. Once the Mori has started, the game is over for you. I don't want to watch the Mori again. Even Knight and Ghostface's get old after a while.

Why do you find the animations this offencive? The killer doesnt mean it in an offencive way most of the time and it is faster than picking up, carrying and hooking as well most of the time as well.

I personally dont see any issue with the animations. So please help me understand your perspective.

but it's not like anyone is missing anything by saving 5-10 seconds.

This could be said the other way around, its not like you miss anything by staying for 5-10 secs.

imo devs have more important tasks to do, than to save you 5-10 secs in a 15-20 min game.

Nah this idea is not good, but that does not mean bHVR could not cut down on wasted time.

Example would be when the last person is downed and there are only two survivors left, the other is on a hook or is slugged.
I find it incredibly bad that, the Killer is allowed the keep them slugged for possibly 2 min, when instead that should INSTANTLY start the mori animation on the recently downed survivor and auto sacrifice the slugged to save on everyone's time.

'But as mentioned by @TragicSolitude, are you sure you want to take the risk adding an additional point of failure in the game? '
Lovely sentence… I will replay 'Yes, we want it'
because Bug by Daylight will not be this unique game without all these specifics & imperfections. So this 'little risk' is worst it I guess

This is like, the biggest non-issue ever. It's TEN SECONDS. The killer taking you to the hook when you're the last one left to be sacrificed takes way longer but I don't see you asking to skip the wiggling. I mean, the game's already over, right? I don't know. Just such a nothing problem.

They will never let you do this, because they want people to buy the new Mori skins. It's tantamount to asking them to add an option to make all cosmetics the default. Won't happen.

  • smurf
    smurf Member Posts: 321

Those aren't really the same thing though. The people suggesting to skip moris aren't interested in seeing them, and feel either that their time is wasted, or that they just don't want to see them.

If we want to compare this to cosmetics, it would be closer to a cosmetic that comes with some kind of animation that only activates at the end of a match where a survivor causes the killer to watch the animation as the match ends. And then the suggestion is still different than asking to make such cosmetics default, but more like asking not to have to be made to watch the cosmetic-related animation.

  • Ohyakno
    Ohyakno Member Posts: 1,206

It doesn't matter what you want. It matters to BHVR that their paid cosmetics are seen, because that gives them greater perceived value and helps push sales.

  • smurf
    smurf Member Posts: 321

    Yeah, I could see that.

I have to admit that I personally disconnect already every time someone is doing a mori on me because I don't like them. Not having the option to skip makes me play the game less. But you're probably right that BHVR would want to be advertising paid animations.

Yeah but thats what a really low chance? Also if the killer really cared they would just bleed you out if theres no hooks in range. Just a silly reason for the OP to want to skip the objectively faster option.

  • BlackJimmy88
    BlackJimmy88 Member Posts: 32

It's still a chance, though. That's always going to preferable to zero chance. It feels cheap.

  • Ohyakno

..... What? Can't you just look at your phone or something? Alt tab? Disconnecting because of an animation in a video game seems very extreme.

  • smurf
    smurf Member Posts: 321

What you say is pretty reasonable :)

Somehow, I find that disconnecting feels like the best option for me in that scenario. I have some reasons for it, but ultimately I guess it's not a lot different than people disconnecting when they get downed fast or tunneled or something, except I contribute to my team as long as possible :D And I can reasonably expect to find myself in that scenario if I'm the last survivor :/

But because of that, I've had some mild dc penalties that make me think I should wait a day to go next so the counter can reset.

Mori's literally last around 10-12 seconds. You seriously can't power through them? If that's the case I really don't think the mori's are the issue. Not to mention that there's no way they'd let you skip them because they want to sell more

It's very amusing and nice to be proven right:

Not even a month and people are already sick of seeing a Mori animation after most games (more often than not after at least 1 person twiddling their thumbs for 4 minutes).

What was liked (or at the very least tolerated) is now despised because of the Finisher Mori system and how it was implemented.

I knew it was a matter of time, I underestimated how quickly though, I thought it would take at least 1-2 months for threads like this one to show up XD

I do agree though, a "press to skip" button would be nice. Most people just want to go next and they often have been watching a 4-minute cutscene already, it's not like it will be detrimental to anyone, it's not even like it would prevent the Killer from watching his own Mori.

wow tik tok brainrot is getting worse and worse. youve also seen the sacrifice animation hundreds to thousands of times too and thats never been a problem before. its 10 seconds, scroll your phone or tab out if 10 seconds is really that hard for you to handle.

You've missed the threads where people complained about not being able to disconnect during the sacrifice animation, huh?

Not even joking, I have absolutely seen it complained about.

Or do you just mean for the people in this thread? A lot of people (not all, but many) who don't like the mori animation take it kind of personally.

There are some people who want to move on to the next match as fast as possible, and I imagine that's in part because by the time they've reached the end of the current match they've been bored for a while. The ends of matches can be dragged out, boring slogs depending on how it goes. Or maybe they really believe in optimizing their time for max points and animations and queue times eat into that.

I don't have the issue myself so I'm just theorizing. At the end of a boring match when I'm in the death animation I'm sighing with relief like "Finally, it's over." A few seconds of animation doesn't make it any less over to me.

  • Ohyakno
    Ohyakno Member Posts: 1,206

I too, begin to experience extreme boredom if left unstimulated for a few seconds.

  • TragicSolitude
TragicSolitude Member, Alpha Surveyor Posts: 7,347

… I can't tell exactly what that's aimed at. I talked about the ends of matches being dragged out slogs, which means 5-10 minutes or even more of boring gameplay. And I talked about myself just being happy the match is over because the slog is over and a few seconds of animation on top of the who-knows-how-many-minutes of boring gameplay feels like no time at all to me. But nothing was about anyone being unstimulated for a few seconds, all of it was based on the idea of a match that had already been unstimulating for quite a while.

Optimizing time could be one thing. I think there are also some people who used to think moris were fun to see, but since they happen more often now some people are finding them boring to see and questioning why they need to watch them, or at least spend the time doing so.

I posted my thoughts on the topic up above (and you already responded to a couple of my comments in other threads, so you might even remember my take on it). Based on the threads I've seen though, I think there are a few reasons why people want to skip them.

Always appreciate your comments though; you tend to be pretty constructive :D
