Windows of Opportunity - Rework Proposal
Windows of Opportunity starts with 2 tokens. Fast vaulting or dropping a pallet while in a chase consumes 1 token.
While the perk has tokens, it reveals the auras of pallets, breakable walls, and vault locations within a range of 24/28/32 meters.
When both tokens are used, the perk becomes disabled.
To regain tokens, survivors must contribute to generator repairs. After completing a total of 40% repair progress, the perk restores 2 tokens.
Windows of Opportunity can hold a maximum of 2 tokens at any time.
……………………………………………………………………………
The perk disabling could actually help you learn loops faster, since it forces you to remember them instead of just mindlessly following the "path" it shows you. This way, you actually end up learning the maps.

If WOO has to be nerfed, then return the cooldown back to it, not this.

As it is now, or with cooldown, people can just hide in a corner and not do anything to help with gens and get value when the killer comes close..
This will make sure people are not just hiding and doing nothing if the want value from it.

This will make the perk F tier crap so its a hard no.

Woo does not need to be nerfed at all imo if anything it should be basekit

What? Are you sure you talking about WoO? Which value survivor will have from WoO, if he tries to stay out of chases? Even if survivor can see resources, it doesn't help him to loop properly, at best it helps to get rid of resources faster and make map weaker. I would maybe decrease range to 24 meters, but that's all, perk is fine.

its great value IF/When they get in chases.
And it does help looping, my looping is very much better when i use it compared to when im not and with a pick rate above 30% i guess about 1/3 of the players think the same?
Decreased range is not enough, as you only need to know where the next loop or pallet is.

Seems unnecessarily complicated for a WoO change. I'd just revert it to it's previous version.

Why people insist in nerfing the most viable SoloQ perk?
6 -
LMAO. Yeah, let's just make the most used survivor perk basekit … I'm survivor main and I find Windows OP. It's just like a support wheel for people who aren't good at looping and don't like to evolve. I faced a Kate today who had Windows and she ran from one yellow aura to another and insta dropped every pallet. It made me mad as killer as well as survivor. But I used her to get rid off the most of the pallets on the map.
The only argument for leaving Windows as it is is the unbalanced RNG of maps, especially on maps like Léry's.

This is a very hot topic right now. I've commented this before and had discussions with others on this topic but to keep it very simple, I do not believe WoO is an OP perk, nor should it receive nerfs. It's not base-kit, it requires skill to utilize effectively, it can be map dependent, and it is not a free perk. The main criticsims people have with WoO can be made for gen auras being revealed as well. The criticim that it requires no activation can also be compared to killers perks as well.

WoO doesn't need a nerf directly but the way to Counter it needs a buff. That being the Blindness Status Effect. Killers of have 5 perks and 20 Add-ons to cause it. Ultimate Weapon used to be good but it got nerfed pretty hard. Septic Touch is just Trash. Third Seal is a Hex and bad against SWF. There's Knockout but that doesn't help in Chase and Finally Mindbreaker which only last for 5 seconds after when you stop repairing. Now they could add the Blindness Effect to more perks like Deathbound, Iron Maiden, Dragons Grip, Hubris, or Make your Choice to make those perks even more Scary since most cause the Exposed Status effect.
Alternatively they Could do what they do with Iron Will and Make the Perk deactivate when Exhausted.

Windows of Opportunity is a perk that has a very good track record of making a bad player fine. Given that this game has such a hard difficulty I honestly don't see the problem WoO poses. We want more people playing the game and can bHVR even demonstrate its overpowered? I think they have been asked to look at it many times and nothing has happened yet.
It would be easier to persuade me that Windows of Opportunity needs to be a basekit effect to some degree.
1 -
Survivor main...sure. Windows should be basekit so killer is slightly less easy mode.

Emotional response I see. The WoO basekit can have an option turn on/ off if you're so worried about the "horror" aspect. If I'm bad at the game for suggesting making a perk basekit you must be bad for playing killer, the easier role where the rules are actually in your favor.
2 -
Sure, why don't we also remove the aura for the generators as killers, as it should also (if we follow your logic) be map-knowledge, no? Yet it's basekit. @Hermitkermit made a good statement about WoO. It doesn't need a nerf.

Windows doesn’t need a nerf whatsoever

No, it's a perk that enables looping. It does not loop for you. You can't see vaults and pallets through walls. You can get used to where they may spawn, but woo removes the uncertainty and in solo q allows you to see if the pallets have been broken or not. Woo just lets you see whats on the map so in many cases the map is the problem not the perk.

If I gained a dollar for every "nerf or rework windows of opportunity" post, I'd be a billionaire.
3 -
Guess a lot of people think it should be nerfed then, right?
1 -
Yep, but they never explain why it needs a nerf or how it affects them in matches.

How to kill survivor perks 101 - inspired by BHVR.
1 -
because it makes it too easy to run from loop to loop to loop to a safe pallet, and into the next loop, and yet a safe pallet, - there is not a chance you run to a place where a pallet is broken with this perk, because you can see it even when you were never there.
1 -
somehow, you managed to give us an even worse proposal than OP did
it enables looping, but disables thinking about where, when and how you should loop, meaning you will quite often lead killer towards a survivor on gen during chase and just create more free pressure for them
0 -
Adding tokens would completely kill the perk :) it was useless beforehand while it had a cooldown.
0 -
It absolutely does not "disable thinking"…
That type of gameplay mistake is not related to windows of opportunity, you can use this perk whilst also avoiding that.0 -
BHVR wants chases this is why Distortion was nerfed. WOO encourages better chases and better chases to get out of chases knowing where to find the best loops for newer/mid players.
0 -
"Distortion doesn't encourage players to avoid killer and never improve at the chase" paradox in attempt of justifying usage of WoO amongst veteran players in both soloQ and SWF :)
1 -
Absolute strawman argument
0 -
i didn't know drawing a parallel between two perks that are both used as a crutch to avoid learning specific game aspects amongst more veteran players is a strawman argument
2 -
How am I suppose to learn which pallets have been used up? Learning where they spawn doesn't mean much if Dwight has a challenge to drop 20 pallets in chase. It's not just about refusing to learn window placements and stuff. In solo queue, you just lack vital information that a SWF has readily available. Until BHVR shores that gap, then WoO needs to at least constantly give you pallet auras.
2 -
The perk still works as long as you do gens aswel, and then think ahead and look around before it disables. The fact that it disables might help you learn it faster as it forces you to remember, instead of just following the "path that it shows you" with out requireing you to learn the maps.
