How will Deep Wound be changed?
I've never seen anyone dissatisfied with the current version of Deep Wound, so I'm curious to see what changes will be made.
When you get a deep wound, the screen gets very dark, so will that be adjusted? Or will it be like severe wounds or bleeding, where it heals over time? I hope it's a good change, because it makes the game less interesting if the debuff effects become too weak.

Its gonna take twice as longer to mend, to shadow buff F tier killers such as Legion and Deathslinger
5 -
Good question tbh.
3 -
Well, currently Survivors are at a time-efficiency loss when performing a co-op mend:
- 12s to self-mend (12s total)
- 8s to Altruistic Mend (16s cumulative + time to position for altruism = never do this)
So at the very least the Altruism speed should change.
But they could:
- Make it bloodier/gorier (whatever happened to that bloodied overlay?)
- Influence bleeding frequency (tracking/blood)
- Increase Injured audio level (tracking)
- Limit survivor actions, such as only medium vaults for survivors with Deep Wounds (lethality)
- ???

Hindred on deep wounds 10%

Fixing and changing things nobody asked for is pretty standard practice around here. I'm ready for anything at this point.

Would make Legion feel like they got more to work with in the 1v1. Not sure how oppressive it’d be though overall, or how enjoyable it’d be, as the application seems initially kinda… simple.
0 -
it specifically says “Update To Status” rather than “tweak” so it seem a bit more substantial. Imo i think the change would be “removing the self mend” and require a second player to mend the deep wound
6 -
Something whose logistics is heavily skewed towards communication and co-operative positioning?
Not good for SoloQ.
Maybe Deep Wounds causes Exhaustion?
For Legion: Basic attack Killer, but survivors go back to basics against them too.
1 -
that would be nice. make it so survs can see their auras (deep wounded sees everyone, everyone else can see only deep wounded) so it doesnt destroy solo q and it would be a nice change to make it more powerful without outright increasing mending time.
0 -
a spitballed idea that could make it more dynamic would be allow survivors to mend while running but all rushed actions reduce the wound timer to try and give it a wider dynamic of play
0 -
Limit survivor actions, such as only medium vaults for survivors with Deep Wounds (lethality)

Tunneling is good enough as is
9 -
deep wounds is already a really debilitating debuff in itself so stapling other status effects to it doesn’t really do much
0 -
Hmm, interesting. And/Or adding in skillchecks when performing rushed actions while suffering from Deep Wounds that if failed cause it to burn down? Kinda like a QTE? (Granting Survival BP)

Yeah

Aside from maybe removing the way the screen darkens with time as a quality of life improvement, I really have no idea. Some of you guys are talking like it's gonna be a buff to the status, when I think a more likely scenario is a nerf or rework to make it less tedious to Survivors. I personally don't mind the deep wound mechanic but we all find different things annoying and I think deep wound is likely to be something that a lot of other players have grumbled about in feedback surveys.
Please BHVR, just don't do something that's going to make Survivors hate my Legion more than they already do or to make Solo Q a misery. It's true that they're not much of a threat against skilled loopers and their counter play is frustratingly dull for both sides, but the last thing low MMR Survivors would like to see is Legion with a better 1 vs 1 power. I want to see some Legion buffs, but not like this.
6 -
I hope it's just removing or adjusting the screen filter it gives. That thing is annoying and serves no legitimate purpose other than reminding you to mend and there are other ways they can achieve that. Other than that I don't feel like it really needs to be changed, it is intended as a form of game slowdown and anti-endurance stacking and it does both of those things perfectly well. Making it any stronger is unnecessary and making it weaker would just be an indirect Legion nerf which is also unnecessary.
3 -
That would absolutely be diabolical for solo q
4 -
i think they're going buff deep wound for survivor. probably allow deep wound to stack with endurance like old one. so basically, you can run off the record+dead hard and get endurance from borrow time and still use dead hard for 2nd endurance. i think endurance stacking is coming back. the goal is to nerf tunneling.
3 -
Legion’s power, in part, works off of the time-commitment of Survivors needing to sit and Mend.
This acts as a form of slowdown.
If they remove/reduce the time it takes to mend in favor of another method, then that needs to be considered in Legions kit. Likely in the form of Deep Wounds being something of a chase related Perk, which in turn makes the 1v1 a bit easier.

All I want is the mend screen gone, its very annoying and throws off pathing and looping specially on dark maps like trashwich elementary school. Else its fine atm and ofc I feel its gonna be something buffed and even more unbearable.
1 -
Deathslinger isn’t F tier? He is still ranged and can hit through small cracks in walls. Plus being easier to use then huntress.
4 -
I've given it some more thought and now I'm thinking that the act of having to mend might be removed and instead Survivors in deep wound will get a debuff to action speeds like repairing, opening gates / chests, cleansing etc. One that would stay until fully healed, encouraging Survivors to heal up to remove the debuff. Or I guess maybe they could make it a special effect that could only be mended by another Survivor like Dudewithname suggested, forcing Survivors to stick together more and giving Legion a bit more opportunity to use their power to chain hits to get 5th hit downs.
This is all speculation of course. I don't know what they've got in mind.
2 -
I actually would accept that first point of yours on debuff of all actions on survivor as that is fair and can help the weaker killers.
Second one no cause then legion who already aint like may claim hate throne from SM and I do not like bunching up with randoms cause of the stuff they do irritates me.

Bring back the old grainy black and white look.
It looked way cooler than the "can't see #### because it's so dark and cheapo low-res blood drips vignettes everywhere" version we have today.
2 -
This one?
Yeah, it looks nice.
10 -
This is a direct buff to tunneling which is why it would never happen. Smack someone off the hook and they are guaranteed to go down quickly.
8 -
Lmao

Like any deep wound changes, it's probably in line with planned Legion changes.
Otherwise they souldn't be trying to fix something that isn't broke.
0 -
I would hope that they make a difference between Deep Wound inflicted by Survivor-Perks and Deep Wound inflicted by Killer-Perks and Killer Powers. So that both can be buffed and nerfed seperately without having unintended changes.
And I really hope that they change the Deep Wound-Visuals to not become darker the longer the Survivor is in Deep Wound. Being chased in Deep Wound and not being able to see anything after a while is really bad.
4 -
Legion’s kinda like Plague:
Both have powers revolving around significant stats (Broken, in Plagues case).
But. Legion doesn’t actually have a mechanic that survivors can use specific to circumvent the mechanic like Plague with her Fountains healing through the Broken status.
Plague was penned in for a rework, so who knows if they intend to shift her power into something more encapsulated away from the Broken status.
(As a side note, I wonder if you can use For the People on a non-Broken Injured survivor (against plague, highly unlikely), get infected from Plague, and then remove your FTP Broken status at a fountain)
0 -
99ing a Deep Wound should be dangerous tbh i think the screen filter is safe.
1 -
No, this is not possible.
You can test this yourself with Deliverance while being infected. You will just remove the Infection, but stay broken until Deliverance is over.
4 -
Probably just improving visibility while in deep wound, remove that awful dark filter
3 -
No offense but if you think Slinger is a low tier killer then that's on you and you only.
4 -
Yeah, it sure would be a shame if the team of players were required to "checks notes" play as a team.
2 -
Check the note where the game’s tagline is “survive together… or alone.” Also check the notes where several devs (Peanits, Mandy, Patrick) have repeatedly stated that survivors can play for themselves. Survivors aren’t mandated to play as a team.
4 -
I don’t think it’s gonna be changed functions again it’s been through 3 versions first it was based on if you got chased which was problematic and then tr based and now it only drains if you stand still
3 -
How would that work when there's only 1 or 2 survivors left? If 2 left then presumably one is in chase and the other just does nothing because they can't mend?
0 -
Slinger is Z tier
0 -
I hope they will shorten the altruistic mending time and be done with it.
Maybe sprinkle in some visual changes but other than that, let it be.
0 -
honestly your comment is really refreshing.
For more experienced survivors, they kind of know a lot of the macro strategies (don’t keep healing against legion, cleanse against plague etc) so adding extra complexity will be an annoyance but ultimately worked around grudgingly by experienced players.
For new players though.. yeah I think it will severely impact their already slim chances.
one thing I think we all need to understand about DBD is that it is a mature game - 8 years in. So even though nerfs and buffs have always happened, you have a core group of the player base who have a ‘baseline’ which they have acclimatised to and can work with changes (begrudgingly so at times) but for newer players, it will not be the game that the core players grew to love when first playing.
And of course this is for all perks on all sides. My point is not “buff survivor nerf killer” it is that we have to be very cautious and considerate of the effect on the wider player base. Of course, very problematic/weak perks probably should be nerfed/buffed but in general, we should remember what made us enjoy/get frustrated with the game and think of how much more these things can be magnified for newbies who have much more maps, powers and perks to learn when joining. They may not have the patience to overcome overly unforgiving obstacles.
We might argue and say as a mature game it should cater only or mainly to the older player base, but if you love the game you would want it to succeed. We are going to reach a point someday where new blood will be the only thing keeping the game alive so it has to remain accessible.

Yeah, not too fond of Legions power just being sitting still and mending.
Pig needs you at least to roam the map and interact with a thematic objective.
Maybe they could do something like Deep Wounds causes you to drop a piece of gore/flesh where you were hit.
Without picking it up, mending takes a long time.
Picking it up, causes your mending speed to be significantly increased.
Or maybe You can cauterize the Deep Wound at certain things, like a generator, or otherwise healed much more slowly elsewhere or via altruism.
Either of those things though would make hit and run legion worse. Which could potentially be a good thing? Likely needing to make the insta-down frenzy chain easier to accomplish.

i know you're smarter than this. you're smart enough to know that there's a fat line between a generic "play as a team" and the far more specific "countering [thing] requires the entire team being on voice comms."
5 -
What if it allows Endurance stacking?
If in Deepwound and still under the effect of Endurance, hits that would down you instead remove 50% of your mend meter, as long as you have at least 50% remaining.
0 -
They're for sure going to make the visual effect less obsctructive. Other than that I have no idea. The way it works with Endurance and on its own is pretty clear, not sure what room for improvement there even is without overcomplicating it.
0 -
I like that it’s a status that can be used to clarify when you can’t benefit from Endurance again. A lever BHVR can use. Though they could put that on another status type
0 -
make survivors see the auras of deep wounded person & deep wounded person sees everyone else's auras to get the mend, ez fix.
1 -
That would be way better than the first suggestion for sure. Although I really doubt mending getting change for legion benefit. Whatever be change about it is likely for survivors
0 -
yeah, sadly.
deep wound is the killer of bad players, so i wont be surprised they give it some kind of stupid buff that ends up breaking it in hands of good players.
0 -
Mending should not be taking longer this is literally a nerf to the legion. Legion is already terrible and they won’t buff his basekit so what makes them think this is going to change anything but make tunneling more unbearable. If you want to see Legion perform better I told y’all before to buff his basekit speed in his power from 5.2 to 5.8 m/s. Plus making them mending longer would guarantee Legion gets 0 downs with his power for sure. If anything Legion in his power benefits from shorter mending.
