Why Are You Nerfing Machine Learning?

I have literally not seen a single person using this perk since it was changed. It was perfectly fine, you already needed to ensure you kicked the right gen to actually begin to get value out of it and now you've just nerfed the amount of value it can give.

Same with Zanshin. You finally changed these perks to a state where they might actually be usable and then nerfed them for no reason within a couple of weeks, why? Who's asking for these perks to be nerfed?

The ONLY one that was problematic was predator and that's only on Nurse which the nerf does nothing to address because Nurse is the one that needed to be adjusted not predator so yet again we have perks power being held hostage because of the Nurse.

Machine Learning in particular was only used in pretty memey builds, you know the ones that are actually fun to play against. Why are you discouraging these types of builds when nobody was even complaining about them…

I honestly hope the perk gets reworked altogether.

The perk has an insanely strong effect but it is shoehorned behind an awful activation requirement and leads to clunky/unfun gameplay just to force value with it, only to have 60 seconds of fun followed by another set amount of time of depression trying to get it to proc again.

Also the perk always procs when the final Generator is completed, with NOED and other Haste perks, it can lead to the Killer snowballing with very little effort. While NOED is definitely the main issue with this, Machine Learning is a massive enabler of this playstyle.

I think Machine Learning has an interesting idea, but I really dont think it fits into the game. I think the easiest thing BHVR could due is make it a token-based perk that gains tokens when a Generator is completed like Fired Up is.

I tried a speed build on my clown with the 60 second machine learning and it was a little busted. Stbfl, machine learning, rapid brutality, and corrupt. With the 3% clown add on. I was just trying to mess around during the event, and only proc’d in 2 times at most.

That being said, I’ve got 2k hours on survivor and i can count on 1 hand the amount of times I’ve seen the perk used. Guess they could have gutted it worse than they did, but I can’t imagine anyone using it outside of memey builds or for the achievements.

It's not a good perk. Noed gets you one down 95% of the time before it's cleansed.

You're right it was far too good, that's why it became meta over night and you couldn't go a play session without seeing the perk. Oh wait, no it wasn't and it's usage has barely even nudged if at all. Outside of one Hens video I haven't seen a CC run this consistently or even played against in a SINGLE TIME since it's change on the PTB.

But hey, I guess just reencouraging everyone to run 4 slowdowns 24/7 is much more enjoyable than some actual variety in the matches.

Does a perk really need to be overrepresented in matches to get changed?

I'd rather BHVR just change perks that end up too strong before they snowball into giant problems plaguing the community for months, personally.

In my opinion this was a good change. After the change it was way easier to get value out of the perk and 60 seconds let you walk from other side of the map to the other easily. Good killers could use that time to snowball the match quite fast if survivors did not play well. Still it losing 15 seconds is not going to kill it just make it more tolerable.

this nerf made no sense, only when it required one gen kick instead of 2 and 60 sec did it make worth using it, you are sacrificing a gen to get it to proc but if your even lucky its that gen the gets done and i like the idea that its good for endgames to gain ground

The last couple of weeks I have seen it several times on survivor and used it myself on several killers. It gave insane value and was way stronger than it was pre-buff.

Pre-buff I probably saw the perk on survivor once a month at the most.

I imagine the duration was reduced as a trade off to it being made easier to trigger.

people thought this was too strong, what the heck? I guaranteed that if there million dollar tournament for dbd, No killer is ever selecting machine learning to win the game. the perk didn't need any changes….

if i was being honest, i was expecting them to buff the perk again. the meme is too good. Just keep buffing machine learning, eventually every killer will switch pain res for machine learning, dbd jokes.

I don't really understand the Machine Learning nerf because while strong, it also leaves so much counterplay on the survivor side and thinking ahead on the killerside. Survivors can see when the killer applies ML on a perk and just refuse to keep working on it or keep it at 99%. Survivors can also finish the wrong generator for the killer or pop too many gens so the killer gets less value from the perk. On the other hand, the killer has to lose a generator but the right generator. Then the killer also has to apply it on the right generator which can lead into mistakes.

Even though the perk is now easier to apply, it is still difficult to active and play with it. This makes the reward fair and keep the perk balanced. So the nerf is not really fair.

That is actually just a description error. I tried it and it does last 45 seconds.
