I finished the silent hill 2 remake yesterday

well hello I’ve been barely posting on the forums and I’ve been on a back and forth break from dbd but recently I have finished the silent hill 2 remake yesterday and I was beyond satisfied…I played this game for 3 days straight and I finished it and every moment of it was great as an old school player of the OG Silent hill 2

I won’t spoil anything to those who wanna experience it but I’ll leave this to anyone who’s a veteran of the OG silent hill 2

the only thing some people who played the OG should know is that there was something here….its gone now….and its not just the hole either…and for some reason I keep seeing screen statics effects play everytime I head towards it….its almost like it was there but it’s gone now

(For those who don’t get this, this is something only people who played the original will know what it is)

I'm quite saddened to report Xbox players won't be getting this until 2025, but I have watched some videos about it, and it has to be something of a complete surprise to everyone how Blooper managed to pull this off so well! I'm hoping they use this experience to make some cracking games in future, both original and other Silent Hill remakes, because they've appeared to have proven themselves beyond any doubt.

I especially liked the attention to detail, the rather brilliant coding to make the blood trails the Lying Figures produced when they squirm along the floor, the extra exploration, but mostly the boss fights and how they've changed them to make them a new experience. My only niggle is that I'm not sure about Flesh Lips being made into a crawling thing, but fair play for them to make them far more of a challenge than the moving target practice the original was.

The unexpected extra boss fight also looks like a fun way of tributing something which was kinda swept under the floor in the last one. ;)

yeah I‘ve already heard of that

I don’t even think Konami were planning a PC release either apparently bloober team demanded a PC release

Hopefully there’ll be one sooner if the game does great with sales

Honestly I loved everything bloober contributed and added to the game. The remake is perfect as it succeeded and doing multiple things at once. And as someone who hated layers of fear and pretty much despised bloober for the abomination that was the medium. Honestly good job of them for gaining redemption with SH2 remake

They did a really good job with a lot of the enemy designs and interactions it’s almost perfect

And regarding the flesh lips personally I think for a remake and OTS gameplay…the new take on the flesh lips is great cause in the OG is relied more on claustrophobia and camera angles combo’d with the low health that they have (that not many people know about)

And yes I love what they did with the mandarins in the remake many monsters pretty much had a glow up and became quiet the threat

also good luck avoiding spoilers for the game…it was already quiet the experience for me

hopefully the Xbox port will be out soon enough

I finished it twice and I cried several times out of nostalgia

I'm not so worried about spoilers, since I played the original a few times in the past. It's nice seeing some of the new ideas (the Abstract Daddy fight is pure art, and a lesson in storytelling within a single fight), and possible hints that James is in a spiral. It's a little like Silent Hill is an eternal or at least long-winding purgatory, but that's one interpretation of many, and I hope they don't confirm any concrete lore because mystery is what makes this game best. People don't need the full picture.

ahh well so did I play the OG and I won’t deny experiencing the remake for the first time without spoilers as an OG player was still one of the greatest experiences for me and yeah I love the new direction the devs went in with the new several ideas and let alone masahiro Ito also fulfilled some ideas in the remake he couldn’t do in the original (ex: BH nurses heads popping fluid I’ve you’ve seen it)

Ans regarding the mystery parts of SH2 well they did confirm nothing but they added more stuff into the mystery element and you’ll find several of it when you hopefully get to play it (when it releases to Xbox hopefully)

they already got 1 million sales

And from what it seems they might be looking forward to bigger things and maybe an Xbox release could be sooner or maybe until October 2025 (probably)

That's the gutting thing about this. As it seems you already know, Playstation have an exclusivity package in place, that no other console can access this for up to a year. That means the 8th October 2025 is currently the earliest it will come to Xbox. It's quite disappointing, and I'm not likely to buy a Playstation just for the game.

At least I have the original and Born From A Wish. Just wish I could have my favourite franchise's latest entry sooner. "Patience is a virtue", apparently! :D

Yeah it rlly sucks how Konami is with porting its game on certain consoles

I already heard bloober demanded them for a PC release for the remake

And also nice! I also got Born from a wish on my copy of OG SH2 on pc!

That's such a nice addition, Born From A Wish. It was an unexpected DLC to Silent Hill 2, which made Maria's story even sadder. To James, she was simply conjured as a delusion to him, but she was a fully-aware individual, a little like Lisa Garland from the first. Both were products of the town, used for pawns, and whilst Lisa as alive before the events, both were sentient and unaware of what they were. Imagine the trauma of that!

I may not have explained it clearly, but hopefully you get the jist. Anyway, I've been watching CJUgames playthrough overtime, and just seen where James survives the first boss, Pyramid Head. Blooper have done such an amazing job; that trip through the apartments was absolutely smack on the atmosphere, and so well done!

I played born from a wish in OG SH2

There’s also a subtle reference to it in the remake

At first glance it seemed like a teaser but new game+ says otherwise

and I wouldn’t call the OG born from a wish a DLC….atleast not until the actual dlc comes out it was more of a directors cut content for the game

And dw I’ve played the OG trilogy so I already know most of silent hill and the lore regarding Lisa and Maria being manifestations and how Lisa wasn’t aware of being dead

    I’ve went through this before

And nice I’ve rarely watched any let’s plays besides like a few and right now I wanna get the game achievements to 100% and then I will view all content online

So far I got 3 endings which are the default ones from the OG and now I’m doing a rebirth ending run

I already just did about a day ago

Not triggering any ending until I do it in my own preferred order

    (Rebirth ending run rn)
