Dead by Daylight Board Game
Hello Party People of The Fog
The DBD Board Game got more copies in through Level 99s website. Has anyone played the board game itself? If so, what are your thoughts? Good game for fans only? Good game for everyone? Bad game with cool little statue fellas?
I'm considering picking it up but as the only one who plays DBD in my immediate friend group, I want to be sure the board game stands on its own without needing the DBD License to be fun.
Any thoughts from people who have purchased the game?

I like this game a lot. @C3Tooth has played more than me, so is the true expert :P
The main pros for this game are: -- Relatively short (games are approx 1 hr), so doesn't overstay it's welcome. Also relatively easy setup.
- Has captured the idea of mind games very well with the movement cards.
- Each killer is quite unique and feels you can play to master one, or change the experience every time. They also adapt very well/feel familiar to how they feel in the normal DBD game.
- Each survivor has unique perks that also make them feel unique, and you can craft a survivor team around.
- The miniatures are great, especially if you get the little hooks for the survivors.
- The rules are relatively simple, so doesn't take too long to teach once you've got it. The backs of you player cards help A LOT!
- The maps have some unique quirks, that are interesting but largely don't factor in unless you play REALLY seriously (so doesn't overwhelm newer players).
The main cons for this game are: -
- The rule book leaves quite a few things unclear, though the rules are simple there are a few gotchas that you need to know that the rule book doesn't explain well.
- The killer game is generally harder than the survivor game. A killer mistake can be very costly and the game runs away from them often. (This is not too bad though, it means if you teach new players as the killer they don't have the hard role)
- The blue (locker and chest) and green (crow and pallet) token symbols are hard to tell apart from a distance, I coloured mine in to help distinguish them at a quick glance.
Overall its a fun game, and I heartily recommend. Still feels a little rough for killer… I'm not sure how much is me misplaying, and how much is the killer role being weak… but if you play it with a dungeon master approach, even then it is still a lot of fun.

it was sold out for so long I didn’t even take the chance and just bought it immediately. I had a feeling it would go quick.

Just want to note the Regular game and Malicious expansion are distributed to other retailers, so is readily available at most board games retailers right now.
I've used a VPN and confirmed there are retailers dotted around the US that still have stock.(It seems a little hard by to come by in the US, but in the UK it's very easy to find right now if you REALLY can't find it and desperately need a copy)
The collectors edition you can only get through L99, and will be near impossible to come by, but they are releasing the parts of the collectors edition in expansions very soon (winter 2024)
So that would be the route I would go if you want the full set 😁
