Bring Nurse in line with the rest of the roster

My proposed nurse changes,

-Nurse can no longer blink through or over solid objects (pallets, walls, windows).

-Nurse now moves at 4.4.

-Nurse can hold 3 blinks basekit.

Nurse will still be strong in her ability to traverse the map and receive a new form of chase power, being able to blink around a loop quickly. Can be balanced by changing fatigue duration, blink charge speed and distance, token recharge rate, and number of blinks if needed. With this rework Nurse will now have to adhere to rules that all other killers are required to (chasing around survivor resources) while remaining a strong killer.

What do you guys think

Honestly I think this version would be just as problematic as current Nurse, if not even more. Survivors will be able to make less distance after she blinks and she now has 3 blinks, she would still be very easily able to blink onto survivors without survivors having much counterplay at all. Especially when survivors would want to get from one loop to the next, they'd be pretty chanceless.

Maybe I am wrong but that's at least my fear.

Blight already works like this. he doesn't have good power in loops but he can hit people between loops. this nurse is blight 2.0 in blink form.

The old version of Torn Bookmark (her 3-blink addon) used to be similar to this where it prevented her from blinking anywhere she didn't have line of sight to, and it wasn't really fun for either side. Also, the only thing that really keeps Nurse fair at all is that she is slower than survivors, and making her 4.4 would remove a lot of her counterplay and a lot of what makes her interesting, even if it comes with nerfs.

I don't think Nurse is in a perfect spot and I do think she needs some changes, but she doesn't need a complete overhaul.

Maybe stopping her verticality would be a way to stop the likes of midwich etc from being utterly broken on her.

It's the smaller maps making her more problematic, it's funny coz 2v8 made me realise old DBD worked with her in somewhat because you could get lots of distance on her due to how big the maps are.

There isn't time or space to adjust position on smaller maps.

I would disagree. Blight needs objects to bump into, meanwhile Nurse can teleport exactly on to a spot that she wants to teleport to. She'd have much more control around many loops than Blight I fear.

As some suggested she needs blindness during charges and blinks.

Just remember - the strongest killer in the game has always to be a free one. So it will never be pay to win.

BHVR has resisted changing how her blinks work for years now. I don't think any changes like this will ever be implemented.

Changes like this feel much more realistic.

blinking through objects in current form has more control over all loops than without. Nurse has to charge blinks. Blight has less charge time in his rushes and he also covers more total distance than nurse so he'd be superior nurse. Nurse would not be as strong. Nurse has edge right now only because she ignores loop design and has adequate anti-hold w mechanic.

Blight only has anti-hold w mechanic. He used to have anti-loop mechanic called Hug tech but this was nerfed.

i would just lower the distance nurse would of traveled if the phased through a object

For instance, max phase without going through objects could be 26, and going through a object could lower the distance to 18

Seems reasonable, but the purpose of my proposal is to allow survivors to actually use their resources against the nurse. If she can still phase through solid collision, then she will still ignore pallets and windows.

Like I said in the original, she can be balanced to compensate in a variety of ways, but she shouldn't be allowed to ignore any and all survivor resources.

Nurse has a unique set of mind games and gameplay that shouldn't be killed off... however she is absolutely problematic with aura perks, and always has been.

My proposed changes are here: -

Nurse is powerful, but I like her power as it is. It doesn't matter that she "ignores" pallets and windows, plenty of killers can get hits around pallets and windows. Nurse counterplay is unique and I'm okay with that.

But she could still use some nerfs. I'd not only nerf her strongest addons and aura reading, but her hearing too, to truly make her have to guess at where to blink. Really sell her as the "break line of sight and make her guess" killer. So here's what I'd change:

    • Heavy Panting (30% extra lunge range on second blink attacks) either reworked or nerfed to 10-15%
    • Fragile Wheeze (70 seconds mangled) reworked or reduced to 50s, or maybe even lower
    • Nurse is now completely aura blind to survivor auras and has her audio muffled when using power. From the moment she begins charging, while blinking, inbetween blinks, or in fatigue. The aura blindness only affects survivors, she can still see stuff like generators and totems

Now I know these changes would be extremely oppressive to newer Nurse players, but at the same time she would truly become a killer based purely on sightlines and guesswork, with almost no help from aura or audio at all. I'd hope we could get something like this during a PTB just to see how it feels to play as and against.

Her own perk Stridor would sort of be antisynergetic with her power, but still.

Nurse just shouldn't be able to do full rotation after each blink, because even if you want to outplay her, there is a huge chance that she would just 180 degrees and lunge straight in your face.

This version of nurse would remove all skill expression and counterplay from survivors. She would still be the strongest zoner in the game, just without any skill required or way to stop her.

just make her not be able to turn around after the second blink so she can only hit in the direction she is looking after the second blink.
