This might be the worst chapter in dbd hands down
Just tried the PTB. Hands down this killer is laughable and it's not even officially out yet. I thought All-Kill and Tools of Torment chapters were questionable but this chapter takes the cake. It's just a woman with a dog, a very poorly coded dog at that but that is evident with the zombies from nemesis or knight's guards. She looks awful too.
I know you can't make everybody happy but this isn't a killer anymore. It's a joke.

That's why it's a PTB. It's not complete and they want feedback to improve upon it.

I love it that people have played two games or so on the PTB (!!) with the new Killer and already know everything and how strong they will be.
24 -
Maybe one day we'll make it an hour after the PTB before the doomposting starts.

"Love it when people jump the gun and creating assumptions" I mean that's literally what you are doing right now. When Blight was first released everybody thought he was trash too

Idk what kinda women you see on your daily life but I don't think it's normal for them to be pirate ladies who command their dogs to attack you and then stab you. You should probably contact the police.

It’s been out for an hour, stop being dramatic.

6 matches won’t make you automatically good at her, she’s obviously a killer that requires more practice than others and theres nothing wrong with that.
Her power seems really good if used well, I’ve watched Otzdarva pull off some cool attacks with the dog.

Nah, that's just a you issue rather than a chapter issue, as looks alone is not what makes killers what they are, but rather how they are and act.
Also many horror villains both well known and obscure are in fact normal looking people, with Patrick Bateman and Norman Bates being two of the most well known horror villains in popular culture and they're both just psychopaths that are ordinary looking.

She just came out but hey you know everything right?

Again, you thinking she looks silly is just a you issue, because i can easily say the opposite that she doens't look silly.
Also my point still remains, they're both normal looking people that kill.

I absolutely love this killer design. It definitely connects back to her lore about being a sailor turned pirate

I understand how you feel. I really dont have a killer vibe also with this character. The moment i saw this killer my first toughts where…
We had skull merchant aka Evil nea
Now we have houndmaster aka evil elodie + doggo
I always hoped we could have had a undead gory/pirate killer with the looks they are using from the waterfront massacre cosmetic sets like the trapper one.
At least give her the looks of a vengefull spirit or a cosmetic that resemblems something like that. atm she looks dull and boring for me but thats my opinion i am sure people will like her also.10 -
if i throw a ball with you around is my hand gonna break?

Voted up that legit made me laugh out loud, rough day I needed that thanks 😂
For orginal comment I can see where your coming from in terms of lore / look rather than power though power comment replies were always likely once yiu mentioned how bad the dog was.
You think they'd have learned by now they don't do well coding ai help for killers. The dog might have been better victor style once it got the survivor could start draging them to her rather than clinging on, sure still some pathing issues but just throwing ideas out there.
I don't bother with ptb these days so will just wait until launch day buy it & maybe actually play the killer in a year once she's been changed multiple times for better or worse.
Just happy its not licensed honestly had enough of that for a while though I suspect the next one will be.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean?

As someone who disliked the Trickster and hated the Legion and the Skull Merchant for their looks, I actually love how the Houndmaster looks.
These three killers look boring not because they look too human, it's because they look too normal, too ordinary and not scary. And that's not the case with Houndmaster.
The Legion, on their base skin, is just a normal mugger with a hoodie and a knife. The Trickster is a handsome K-Pop artist with a bit of a creepy behaviour, but not enough on his actual appearance to make him look scary.
The Skull Merchant wears just a white shirt and leather overalls with straps, her claw looks just like a worse predator claw and her mask is quite ugly, with shiny jewels that contradict her lore and power (about her being an efective stealthy predator, jewells and white cloth would literally make her easy to see).
But the Houndmaster? She wears a dark-colored uniform unlike anything you would ever see anyone wearing today (which is also stained with blood), attacks with a blade that she hides in a cane, and has a very intimidating scar on her face. Sure, she too seems to have been designed with some sex appeal in mind, but just like in the Artist's case, that doesn't exclude the horror. She fits the game well.

I get what you're saying. I feel like as if Bhvr is slowly moving away from horror.

I like new killer. She fits current DbD and the dog while not without issues looks fun to use.

OP I feel you where you are coming from. It's probably because we've seen this type of enemy before in other games. She looks like she'd an enemy you'd be fighting straight out of an action/adventure or some turn-based RPG. Something like Divinity 2 is what I think of.

I think she’s neat. She needs a lot of work though.
She’s scarier than legion..imagine a teenager trying to kill you 🤣 it’s laughable

The visual design of the killer and survivor alone are just horrid. This must be the devs' attempt at "modern" character design. And we absolutely called this, with the direction they went with Haddie and Skull Merchant. Those were bearable. But these? Ugliness is the new beauty, I guess.
13 -
How could you say that when we literally got unknown this year 🤣
5 -
She is a better fit than Trickster, and in my opinion that is enough.
2 -
The Trickster is a handsome K-Pop artist with a bit of a creepy behaviour, but not enough on his actual appearance to make him look scary.
Because Trickster's appearance is intentionally not supposed to look scary, if he looked conventionally scary then it would completely defeat the point of his character and the horror subgenre he falls under.
7 -
She doesn't fit the game at all. You're making excuses for her you wouldn't make for Skull Merchant.
9 -
"Normal."
8 -
Yes normal, she doesn't have anything supernatural or otherwordly about her, she's normal.
2 -
I agree :)

Neither does legion 🤷🏼♂️ or trickster.

do you reverse the velocity and direction of things around you

I love how you say "she doesn't fit the game" and "you're making excuses" but you can't even point out what's wrong with her. Tell me WHY she doesn't fit the game and what I'm saying that are just "excuses" then. Otherwise, you're just complaining without saying anything.

this is certainly one of the chapters of all time. maybe that's why they're throwing in so many little changes to other things.
honestly if they manage to make houndmaster actually worth playing i'd give the chapter a solid 7.5/10

Patrick IS silly by definition and intention. The entire purpose of American Psyco is being a satire. Patrick is a silly narcisistic dude who acts as if he was amazing and loves to admire his own body. He is not that different from Trickster in terms of personality, although Trickster's story is horror while American Psycho is more of a comedy.
But you know who is NOT silly? The blind killer from Don't Breathe. And guess what? He HAS a dog. And was far more intimidating than Patrick will ever be.

No, I can only walk backwards though.

The killer looks extremely janky and buggy. Her design isn't very good. Her power looks like it only works on the most sluggish and predictable of survivors. It's good for chasing in a straight line down hallways and that's pretty much it. The survivor isn't very interesting either. The perks are a mixed bag. At least the killer's voicework is good.
Overall, mediocre. Also, this chapter was supposed to have a map. Where's the map?

DBD has a large roster of killers and believe the devs have stated they can't or won't make every killer fitting for everyone. They're all gonna be quite different and some will be more popular than others and everyone has a favored killer.
Me…. i hate this killer. Never gonna play her other than the achievements or tome challenges. I'm a mail carrier on the rare occasion i already get harassed by these 2 large poodles and now i'm gonna get chased by another dog in game. ☠️
3 -
From what I've seen the dog is loud as hell too, it's extremely grating to listen to, constantly snarling and panting right in your ears to the point it drowns out the rest of the game.
5 -
honestly it’s not even about the strength of the character or the perks. The killer looks super lame with a boring mori (seriously they just used demogorgon and nemesis combination) and the new survivor is unappealing. This is in the level of tools of torment and all kill. Say what you want but at least knight looks cool. Dredge looks cool. What the hell even is this chapter?
5 -
for once I agree with you these designs suck.
5 -
To me, she seems fine. It's nice to have another human character every once in a while. Even though I prefer the more monstrous or eeiry of characters (The Unknown, The Executioner, The Onryō, The Singularity), it would be dull if it was a "monster of the week" every chapter.
I am trying to understand both her and the survivor's attire. I'm guessing it's an alternative Earth to ours, where culture evolved differently (although I only read the brief and not full lore, which doesn't say either way). It's unusual, but then again we have Robbie Rabbits and a killer Bear roaming about, so it's hardly out of place.
As you say, you can't please everyone. It depends what is to be expected. For me, the game is more slasher than horror, which fits into other areas, including thrillers. As the lore expands, it makes sense The Entity picks characters that fit the trials. They include survivors with a lot of determination, and killers that can hunt and kill. They don't have to be horror.
I wouldn't be surprised if there are killers out there which would never make the game, but would be chosen as one of the millions supposedly in the realms. My headcannon still has Finn Kelly from Neighbours hunting insides with a bow and arrow!

I get the concept, she's supposed to be baroness like Aurelia from Borderlands, but the design is just horrendous. It's not scary, not imposing, not even attractive in any way... an absolute design failure. The dog is fine, but he is not the one who gets the skins.
5 -
While i disagree with OP, and 2 games is a bit small, after playing the game for thousands and thousands of hours, it is pretty easy to tell in an hour or 2 of playing if something is going to be good or not. DBD is not that complicated of a game.

the dog is like the only good thing💀

I mean thats how it was with Vecna on the ptb where he was laughably weak when I tried him out on the first game and look where he got after the ptb. He turned out to be a powerhouse thanks to mage hand then got toned down to be rather balanced. It's not rocket science, you can reasonably assume a killers position in power with a few games if you are skilled enough to recognize that.
PTB blight was absolutely horrible then got collision changes to live that made him significantly better.
Now as far as the killer being as bad as OP says? Not so sure. Definitely has potential but for now I'd say around wesker tier. Mid range map pressure with a decent chase power if you can land it.Post edited by Brimp on2
