Please make Pharmacy a rummage Perk (EDIT: Maybe actually don't)

The buffs that were give to Pharmacy are really good! There are still several issues with the Perk however.

Due to the changes, ALL items you get from Chests are Green Med-kits, you literally cannot get anything else, combined with the fact that Green Med-kits are not that good as they used to be it becomes a bit of a hinderance again.

I think it woulkd be cool if Pharmacy got reworked into a rummage Perk, like Scavenger and Residual Manifest are, kinda like this:

Pharmacy

  • Unlock chests 100% faster.
  • The hearing distance of Chests is reduced by 20 metres.
  • This perk grants the ability to rummage through an opened chest once per Trial and will guarantee a basic Med-kit.

To make this Perk a bit more worthwhile for healing, you could add this effect on top of everything else!

  • Med-kits are 33% more efficient and faster while self-healing.

This basically just removes the downside from med-kits when used to self-heal yourself, I think this would make Pharmacy a really good perk!

If you think it suddenly has way too much effects, you could just remove the hearing distance of Chests effect, since that doesn't really fit the Perk that much anyways, what do you think?

EDIT: I was wrong about the buff, the trade-off is alright on it's own, being only able to get Rare Med-kits from chests, but with other Perks Pharmacy becomes a really great Perk, so please don't change it, I was wrong!

The only thing you might change is to make opening Chests completely silent like Calm Spirit does, since 20 metre noise reduction basically means that they won't hear you anyways.

    That would be a massive nerf imo, it'd only guarantee you 1 medkit and it'd take longer to get it too if you have to rummage. On the PTB with Pharmacy you open chests in 4 seconds and guarantee the ability to heal yourself every time. The drawback of not being able to get other items is worth it since medkits are generally still some of the strongest items in the game. There's rarely a situation where I'd rather get something else from a chest instead of a medkit.

    Yeah it would be a bit of a nerf, but with the change of removing the downside of med-kits when self healing I think that could give a lot of potential for synergy with healing speed perks and such!

    Maybe.

    Though due to the way positive and negative modifiers apply, if you want it to completely offset the medkit penalty then you would need to make the bonus 50%, not 33%. At 33% it would still be a little slower than normal (because 1 + 0.33 = 1.33 and 1.33 * 0.67 = 89% healing speed, whereas 1.5 * 0.67 = 100% healing speed)

    Hmm, maybe they could just have the description like this:

    • Med-kits have the same efficiency and speed as when healing others while healing yourself.

    And under the hood they could just include an if statement in the med-kits themselves when the user has pharmacy to not apply the usual debuff, would skip all that math haha

    I might have been wrong about Pharmacy's buff, it's actually really good when combined with other Perks like Ace in the Hole or Botany Knowledge!
