Death Garden/DBD Masks

Once again the console users are getting thrown under the bus. All the PC players who get Death Garden get to have these unique masks, but console players are stuck with the stuff that's in the store because we don't have access to DG. Why couldn't the devs have made it into a type of demo on console, allowing console players the chance to also have these unique masks. It would have brought PC and Console players closer together instead of shoving one out of the way.

PS: If you're a PC user and decide to comment, don't be a shmuck saying "PC MASTA WACE 4 DA WON!!" because I don't care.(Rant Time) Because those types of people don't understand that both PC and Console are doing the same thing just differently, unless they're afraid difference. Also you most likely wouldn't have PC gaming without Console gaming. (Rant Over)

See what as an exclusive? The game or the masks? I feel like the devs are doing the same thing they did with legacy, It'll be limited time and only pc will have access to it and when console finally gets it we won't be able to get anything because the limited time thing has ended. Its unfair

The masks aren't limited though. It's been said that all you need to do is own Deathgarden for the masks and they are available forever. So they will most likely be there for the console versions.

The mask, I feel like they would add it because it is a cool mask. However I would want it for Jake instead.

I'm talking about the masks and how I heard that they will be limited to the first few people who played it on PC. Console players are constantly being left out.

I don't think there's anything they can do. Until it comes to console we have to wait.

First off, DeathGarden is a separate game and team, being developed under the BHVR label. Sure Ash was part of the original DBD team, but they don't influence one another's game. So while there are exclusives to PC, right now the game is only PC so it really is not exclusive....just platform related.

Secondly, Legacy is an entirely different discussion. Legacy was a reward for the extremely difficult grind that was the blood web before a console was even released. So it is not as much a PC exclusive as it was a 1 time award that players earned.

Thirdly Games like Red Dead Redemption 2 are not coming to PC and many times exclusives are what drives players to a specific platform. Battlefield, CoD etc have to get this game exclusive for buying it on this platform or this item for buying it here. This has been a thing since Xbox and Playstation released.

I will not pull a master race card, but what makes you chose a game on a Playstation over one on an Xbox? It is the platform you choose when both options are available. So if consoles can have exclusives why can't PCs? You also have the option to get those cosmetics etc if you purchase and play the game on PC. Think of it as a console, it is just a different operating platform to play on.

Not everyone has the money to buy a pc good enough to play the damn games on it so we have to resort to the cheaper solution. Just because it has a better operating system doesn't mean it's easier to access.

This is fair, but if Consoles being the cheaper option has access to exclusive content why shouldn't PCs be able to have exclusive content too?

We are talking about a game that can be accessed by both sides, not a game that can be accessed by only 1. Having exclusives for a game that both pc and console can play is not right. I'm not saying pc shouldn't have exclusives, i'm saying that system specific exclusives should not exist on a game like this, it only divides the community further than it already is. It wasn't a smart move to add old saggy balls Bill because that is just another further divide. The devs are constantly talking about balance but have never once stopped to talk about ballance for the community. The community is completely unbalanced due to pc having better stuff that console just doesn't have access to and is 100% unfair.

Then you've heard wrong. There is no time limit to the masks and the only requirement is to own Deathgarden. So they aren't going anywhere.

Again, this is not a valid argument.

Can this game be accessed by both PC and Console...Yes. So can 1000s of other games and many of those games also have platform-specific exclusives. Soul Calibur had Darth Vader exclusive on PS consoles. Link was even playable on Nintendo Consoles. This is nothing new! It is just a "which device to I choose to play on more thing"

As for Bill they added him before the console version was even released. Also he is a property that is owned by Valve and they gave permission to use him.....to increase sales on the platform. Besides you have all Bill's perks available to you. They also gave all console users Spark of Madness for Free. PC users had to pay for that one.

You want to talk about a divide it is because you are making it one. If you come to the realization that there is a time before this game was on the console you would understand that there is very very very little unbalance between the two. Yes, the masks are a cross-marketing strategy for another game that is made by BHVR and will be released on PC. Maybe on Console, but they are not on sale and no reason to provide them for free when they are trying to get people to buy the other game.

Now, DLC releases are a bit messed up. Is that a BHVR issue? I am a bit doubtful about that. The last two releases were held up because of issues with both the MS and Playstation certification process. The Saw Chapter released right on time on Console...The next day on PC....and 1 week or so later because of Sony. Clown was a mess because the certifications were not approved by the Console companies, mainly because of a huge update and a new currency addition. Now we can come back to this debate after Spirit is released and see how that plays out, but I think they are trying to get them out around the same timeframe.

So the divide is 90% mental and 10% technical.

At least I can have an actual conversation with you, very good points are actually being made. But the divide Is very noticeable, mainly because what I've seen from the devs is they care quite a bit more about pc than they do console. Pc has more features, as well as access to testing out the newer stuff MUCH earlier than anyone else.

I think the "care about PC" comes from the fact that out of their 70 or so person team that 60 of them are from the original PC build team. While this game has made some money BHVR themselves were under a different umbrella. That makes hiring and planning a bit different as the parent company can have a large amount of influence on overall product.

With that said, if you have a development team in place that knows one skill and knows it well enough they are not going to just up and move them to the console team. Now that BHVR owns its own content, it would not surprise me to see the console team be expanded and improved upon. However, these are just growing pains, they aren't going to fire 1/2 of the workforce to bring in a development team for Console.

As for PTB this is a very tricky situation. So as far as I am aware no company does a Public Test Build on console. (Please someone provide me data if I am wrong) Now Public Test Builds are much different than Alpha or Beta testing.

Alpha/Beta testing is a limited release build in order to stress test/bug fix on the game, but this is in the early stages of development. Many times on the dedicated servers that the game will end up being played on. Once publicly released those servers are converted to actual game servers. Also companies like MS/Sony require developers to not only submit the updates for certifications but require them to purchase server space to host a server(s) that is dedicated to a testing build of the game. Steam, to the best of my knowledge, does not require any of this.

For example, Rainbow Six Siege also does a PTB for new content, but that is only available to PC players (console players can play the build if they play on the PC PTB too). I guess maybe DBD could figure out a way to open up accessibility for those who do not own a PC copy, but to play it on PC? I am not sure the logistics of that, but you are also only talking a 1-2 week window for massive testing.

Maybe someday in the future, more companies or even the console companies will make it easier for publishers to provide test builds to users, but I don't think that will be anytime soon. It just seems like it is too much work and cost for such little testing time.

PC has tons of exclusives that consoles will never see If your going to release a game on all platforms it should not just be PC who gets extra skins or cosmetics we are always shortchanged
