We want 2v8 to be permanent

Am I the only one who couldn't go back to 1v4 after playing 2v8? It just feels so slow and boring compared to the constant excitement of 2v8. 2v8 feels like a hectic party game, just like this game was supposed to be. I really hope the devs make 2v8 a permanent game mode in the future.

according to the devs, 2v8 is effectively in an open beta state while they work out all the kinks and take all the time and player feedback they can to make the mode the best it can be once they do make it permament.

I could see it becoming permanent in a year or two, maybe longer? It's sort of in a beta phase right now and you can tell. Could be a while. But I think it'll definitely become permanent eventually.

I'd rather it be a periodic temp game mode while they build on it and iron out the kinks.

Whether or not if ever gets to a stage where it can be permanent I'm not sure. It'll always be playing catch up to the main game, and it may be too problematic for queue times anyway.

If the playerbase was big enough (and Survivor in 2v8 was as appealing and fresh as Killers in 2v8) to sustain 2 queues without making Killer queue times 15+ minutes (for a ≈5 min match assuming the server doesn't randomly crash/a hacker doesn't crash the server) then I'd be fine with 2v8 to be there long-term.

However it's very much not the case, so no. The Killer queue times are horrible enough when it's there short-term, no need to make this a permanent thing.

I agree with the sentiment. I strongly dislike 2v8 and only played it the first time around so I could farm medkits for a bit.

I really liked Lights Out, which I guess is uncommon. For me: Lights Out > Normal Mode > Chaos Shuffle > 2v8.

Longer queues mean many people want to play duo killer because it's fun. Killer mains in 1v4 are 20% of the playerbase. Of those, let's say half like 2v8 and the other half don't like 2v8 because of longer queues. So you're saying we shouldn't have a game mode that 90% of players want to appease 10% of the playerbase.

If the mode would become permanent, the hype would die down and the que’s would adjust. The que’s will probably only stay like right now if they make it a limited time thing.

    No we don't

that’s because there’s not enough survivors to go around for all of the killer mains. That’s why the blood point incentive is so high for survivors.

Speak for yourself. I can't stand 2v8. Every match feels the same. You can't play killer. Gets really old really fast.

If the player base could handle it and queues weren't insane, absolutely agreed.

    this math sure is presumptuous.

it presumes that 1v4 is perfectly balanced, which it is not - incentives exist in 1v4 for a reason.

it presumes that "half like 2v8 and the other half don't like 2v8 because of longer queues".

it presumes nobody plays both roles, only hard-committing to one role.

it presumes that every survivor likes 2v8.

I really hope the devs consider making 2v8 permanent because it's much more fun than 1v4.

For the sake of making it feel fresh every time we get it, and for the sake of normal queue times, I'm fine with it being temporary.

2v8 is the only thing I come back to the game for now as I’ve been playing this game since 2018. I’m bored with the typical 1v4, and it’s a breath of fresh air (balanced or not) to play.

The games 8.5 years old, it’s about time they make game modes permanent and not an every 3 month for two weeks thing.

Killer queues would not be so miserable if 2v8 was permanent.

At the very least, perk randomizer should be a permanent game mode.

No we do not. We'd be very happy if it never came back. It's the most watered down, boring, mindless, no skill excuse for a game mode yet and its active time in the game ruins it for many of us. It's basically a forced 2 week break from the game because trying to get killer games is just a waste of time.

The game cannot support split queues at all.

Please no! Unless they can figure out a way to fix queue times in normal mode I rather not ever have this mode as a permanent mode. Personally I really hate 2v8, survivor is boring and unless you have a friend, soloq killer is not fun either.

I know ppl say 2v8 is like have casual mode in DBD but I don't see it like that. There definitely a meta forming in it and games are getting pretty sweaty. In my opinion Chaos shuffler is more of a casual mode bc you can't control what build you take into a match so for survivors they don't have to worry about killers running 4 slowdown and killers don't have to worry about survivors running bunch of 2nd chance perks. Also Chaos shuffler doesn't affect queue times at all unlike 2v8.

I love this mode coming back from time to time, but it makes me also wish there was a more casual 1v4 matchmaking wise. I really dislike how much I have to sweat in 1v4
