2v8 Guide class is OP Ft. Hens
In 2v8 the Survivor Guide Class is currently the strongest if not broken class in the game that desperately needs nerfs. Its able to pop multiple gens in the span of a 1 gen length of time.
Hens shows the extreme power of Guide class

I watched him do this live and they threw multiple games trying to pull it off. I'm not watching the video but I'm gonna guess it's just the cherry picked good matches, which makes sense since YouTube is about getting views. Have you tried to actually do this yourself in an average game? You seem to post alot of YouTube videos, probably best to try things yourself and make up your own mind and not just let content creators make it up for you

Ah yes, the comp streamer with his 8 man swf that cherry picked games for content clearly proves how this is "op".
30 -
The fact that it’s possible to pop a Gen in less then 10 seconds at all no matter the circumstances is problematic and needs to be addressed. I don’t care if it’s cherry picked or not, it should be possible. Plain and simple.
8 -
And two killers taking away 100% the chase out on instant downs by just hitting the same person at the same time shouldn't?
11 -
No it shouldn't but it is. Tbf it's very niche and you might encounter it once. If queues were better maybe it'd be an issue but the suck and I highly doubt a majority of teams would be able to pull this off. As far as exploits go in this mode I don't seem to care as much as wild as that sounds I'm just having fun throwing hatchets at the plethora of survivors we have
2 -
Not even remotely comparable.2 killers who team up is an awful idea that leads to a loss for the killers almost every time. Doubling up on one survivor costs huge Gen and map pressure.
I don’t think I ever seen a tag team win once actually
7 -
And I've see several matches of trapper + slinger and spirit + wraith win (6-7k) cause of it in soloQ. Taking out 30-40 seconds of chase on every chase makes a huge difference in map pressure.
11 -
Must be very new survivors. 2 separate chases equals two separate downs which equals to separate people going for two separate unhooks which equals half the team not on gens.
The double team playstyle is the easiest to beat far and away. And a Billy working on his own is the biggest threat to survivors, no need for double taps at all. But I should expect new survivors to still somehow manage to lose because this game isn’t beginner friendly at all.
2 -
I like the difference that people agreed to him when he uploaded Condemned Onryo is problematic or something, and now deny when he mentions some problematic survivor thing.
5 -
Condemned Onryo is problematic
Just a playstyle in one of the killers, that just require using killer powers in some kind of a way.
problematic survivor thing
picking up 8 people to focus on doing one thing, often throwing matches without success, with many things that could go wrong, just to acomplish some kind of "woah we did gen in 2 seconds" once in a while after several attempts
IT'S LITERALLY NOT EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE TO EACH OTHER
6 -
I love how those "this survivor thing is SOOO BROKEN" have one thing in common

Absolutely fair point. The one thing I will say though, while getting this ability off with the insane gen progress jumps that Hens is going for here is likely throwing the game; if you don't be silly and just use the power normally with an SWF, it is still quite busted.
I personally didn't read this ability properly at first and thought the Medic was the more meta strat, since the AoE heal stacking was easily something you could use well, even in soloQ. However after I read the Guide properly and understood what it does, I didn't like the design of this ability immediately.
It's another example of an ability that works way better with comms than without, and a trio of Guides on comms all running together can be quite silly, even if they don't throw themselves at the killers for the unlock (like Hens does here). If they just play normally and use this ability it as it comes up, it's still possible for a trio of guides to fun around dumping 15-45s of progress each time they first touch a gen. As a solo player, you barely notice this effect, but with comms you can get some pretty busted gen progress strings going.
If I were to tweak the ability I would change it to:
- Unlock Ability: When completing a generator, gain a 5% charge per non-Guide Survivor working on the same generator. The next time you work on a generator, those charges are immediately applied to the generator.
This fits the role of the Guide, which is to guide non Guide players to buddy up with them on generators without allowing a SWF group of Guides to go silly. If Guides are better splitting up for their bonuses (which should be the point), this power becomes more a soloQ support power than a SWF rush power.

You seem to post a lot of YouTube videos, probably best to try things yourself and make up your own mind and not just let content creators make it up for you.
^ BASED!
I feel like a lot of people just blindly look at things at face value and dont really experiment or try things out. It's common for me to log onto the DBD Forums and see people post stuff about stuff I actively engage with and it is clear that they just post about stuff based on their negative experience and/or others without giving things a proper shot.
I do feel like the Guide Class has room to be busted, but like, 2v8 is a hyper casual mode, and it's fine for things to be a bit unbalanced. My only gripe is that a Generator-related Class is just boring, but that's it, and I hope we get more unique Classes as time goes on!

I mean…and bear in mind I'm a killer main, it's just a silly game mode. I'd say no need to nerf - just let people have some silly fun as a break from the intense matches.
5 -
Grouping up on gens is also generally a terrible idea for survivors, and always has been. Even before the "prove thyself" nerf, it's always been better to split up until the last gen (and sometimes, especially during the 3 gen meta, it's still better to stay split up on the last one).
Your remark about spreading pressure applies the exact same way to survivors. In the games they likely threw to make this video, all it takes is one killer to find them and half the team is now pressured off gens.
Grouping up is a bad idea, co-op gen penalty doesn't apply if you split up, having only one gen done instead of multiple with progress is inefficient.
Doing a gen with 4 people and toolboxes is, was, and always had been for show, which is exactly what people do for content.
So your comment about "this not being remotely comparable" is entirely wrong. Splitting up on your objective is the best play. For either role. Not doing so is just sending a message that you're just here to win and "don't care about the other team's fun".
8 -
Yes actually Ive mained guide class and can easily say it's way to busted in its current state having 4 of these majorly accelerates matches with killers can do nothing about it.
So instead of having a condescending attitude you can apply your own logic to yourself and see how strong Guide really is.

Ok guys I mean… in all honestly… are you guys really defending this nonsense? Like… is this the game survivors want? Unlimited pallets, unbreakables, no hooks, no rescue strategies, injuries healed in a second and a long lists of insane perks?
It’s not hard to see how this mode is insanely strong for survivors, it’s fine for clowning around and such, but, if this is really the balance you want for normal mode, well, that’s wanting killers to be crippled npcs that follow you around but offer no challenge nor sense of achievement. (Which ultimately kills a game).
Game balance has to be adjusted by what’s possible to do, not what people feel.

This is a classic - people see a Youtube-video and base their opinion on it. But fail to realize that it took dozens of games to have the content of the Youtube-Video.
This is also why I laugh about everyone who is doing CJ-Techs and thinks that they should be nerfed. Since they see the 2 successful games where it worked, but not the 100 games where it did not work.
But yeah, Forums I guess.

This can be fixed next iteration by giving every Killer class some sort of small basekit gen control. Period.
It's dumb BHVR didn't do that to start with.
3 -
It's a limited time mode. It's intended to not be completely balanced, and it won't be around forever. At least that's what people said constantly last time when it was completely broken the other way for killers. There was literally nothing for survivors to do other than be killer fodder, they removed it all.
It's petty obvious that they're using this mode to test out ideas that likely won't make it into the base game ever. But there are a number of things they're taking a stab at that might address common complaints.
Comeback mechanics, anti camp/tunnel hooks, classes that are pretty clearly perk concepts to encourage side objectives.
I don't think anyone is saying this is what people want forever in the main game, but it's different, and generally it's a fun variation on the main game.
Expecting perfect balance is just unreasonable. That's not what limited time modes are for.
7 -
Imagine spending this much energy being bothered by a limited time game mode that's whole point is being chaotic and silly.
When the change makes it to base game 1v4, let us know then.
8 -
No survivor can do a 2v1 and no survivor should be expected to. You’re going to give yourself arthritis reaching so far.
9 -
Just adding that in this iteration of 2v8 you can see survivors auras when they team up on a gen. Grouping up on a gen let's killers know which gen they should probably go kick and where to find more than one survivor.
5 -
The trade-off being that they're not pressuring the other 7 players. Do you not see how bad that is?
5 -
People usually aren't smart enough to use the Guide's boost effectively. Sprint Bursts and insta-50% heals for everyone are much stronger.
3 -
Skill issue honestly. We did it 4 times yesterday. Literally the easiest thing to counter.
1 -
I knew I'd see a post about that video. News flash, if you go up against a coordinated group of 8 survivors on coms then they won't need to use this strategy to win. They could use any number of strategies and do fine. And honestly, it is counterable by killers anyway. If the killers coordinate their hits then the survivors can't just keep taking turns tanking and healing. The whole thing falls apart pretty quickly if the killers respond correctly or if Hillbilly is one of the killers. But really, this is just another one of those things you see on YouTube but would very rarely come across in an actual game. An 8 stack of coordinated survivors will always be rare and difficult to pull off.
5 -
What do you mean. You get like 3-4 perk base line. You get Call of the Brine, No where to hide, bbq for when gens pop on un hooks survivors. Discord. You can instant down a healthy person with tag teaming offering 0 counter play. All their base line kits buffed. As well as other crazy aura reveals.
Its laughable that you even post things like rescue strategies, but being able to 2 tap someone at the same time offers 0 strategies or counterplay you are fine with. I could cherry pick every time that's happened to me and said this is unfair and unfun and needs to be removed. But does it happen all the time. Nope.
4 -
Here we go again showing something thats not even an issue at all.
3 -
Oooo big wooo they see and are gonna kick the gen for 5% here's 70% a Gen finished in 5 seconds grouped up thanks to guide way worth a hit or down btw
1 -
let’s see you do it then
1 -
I have multiple times

People are allowed to criticize and give feedback to modes they did not have a fun time in, in the hopes the next iteration is a fun time. The Devs don't know what needs changing to make the mode feel better if they don't hear any feedback or criticism.

proof?

Source just trust me bro

One big problem with using this video as evidence.
What is the expected survival rate for an 8 person SWF in a mode with looser MMR led by an extremely experienced player? Logically this should be a pretty high escape rate. Except, the video results are middling at best (tough to tell because they never show the end result screen) and as @Nazzzak mentioned, it didn't go well live.
It looked like a fun, mememy strategy, but thats about it.
2 -
Takes extreme coordination in an 8-man swf to pull this off, and even the killers were still getting kills.
2 -
Not everyone has a 8man SWF.
2 -
Medic is way better, if you play duo. Scout is way better if you are solo.
This work only if you have 3+ players on discord.
Basically every class is broken. You just have to pick based on your team.0
