Thrill of the Hunt buff is abusable

The day before the update I had already faced a Demogorgan who was running Thrill of the Hunt, Devour Hope, Pentimento, and Undying. After the first hex totem was cleansed (took me forever because he just teleports to the totem), he was able to place penti. This game style is just annoying and with the new buff to TOTH, survivors can spend 47 seconds 2x cleansing DH and an additional 28 second for both penti totems. Surely you cannot just leave DH on the map when it’s been activated, as well as penti. It makes doing all of the objectives punishable and extremely difficult to cure when a demo places their portals on the totem. Want to clear the portal? Now the killer knows where you are and you won’t have enough time to cleanse the totem

Of course, the devs try to buff one of the worst hexes in compensation for removing the bloodpoint bonus (mostly the reason this perk was even run outside of one or two niche builds) and the community flames them for it.

The only useful combo it has is with Hex: Face the Darkness. That's it.

I ran demogorgon with rat tail+rat liver with face the darkness, devour, undying, face the darkness. i got bored of new killer because it was terrible and played that.

I have always wanted to have a viable expose perk and finally they buff something that i want to use in daily builds after….. +5 patches. yay!

What is the buff to TOTH?

Sounds like it's working as intended. You could just go do gens instead.

It is a fair buff to make Hexes more reliable. Bad totem spawns are the main reason why no one uses hex builds because survivors can spawn right next to them or a generator is right next to a hex which means a survivor will find and cleanse it while you have no clue/are in chase. If the killer is patrolling their Hexes, then the killer is busy and neither in chase nor defending generators which gives survivors more time to stay on gens. Focusing too much on a hex without knowing which one it is and everyone tries to cleanse it but the killer is denying it, is a huge mistakes. If the killer is chasing a survivor, this survivor can always byy extra time to either force the killer to check the totem again or to lose it for a down.

Hexes also have fair counterplay: Ignoring is one of the simpler one can be used against ruin and wretched Fate to avoid a Pentimento. If it's endgame and Devour Hope has three or four stacks, act like it's NOED, and don't waste time with it too much. Survivors have a handful of perks to cleanse totems faster or to avoid pentimento - 16 perkslots, there is space for one counter, especially when Hexes now become more common.

Thrill of the Hunt was most definitely not one of "the worst hexes".

Topic: Yeah, I haven't tried it out myself yet since I've been mostly on just Houndmaster today, but this most definitely is going to be an issue and needs to be reverted. Even without looking at the combo potential with other totems or killers, 47 seconds just to cleanse one totem is madness.

So SWF''s can coordinate to ignore it but in solo queue, we know that's never going to happen!

Im not sure what impact this will have in a build yet, but have seen it apparently makes Face the Darkness unclensable. Definitely something to watch. We'll see I guess.

It was weak garbage, 10% for token was not enough and hex still being destroyed in first 15 seconds of the match, cause they spawn is unfunny joke. Beside its only free perk to not let hex being instantly destroyed. You want dominance - pay real money for Dracula, you want undying - pay real money for Blight, you need pentimento (to not let your broken hex waste a perk slot) - pay real money for Artist. And thrill of the hunt always has counter DO NOT CLEANSE A TOTEM, except Devour Hope not any hex worth to be cleansed. I see this as complain that survivors cannot instantly destroy totem and get away with it.

You are accusing of “abusable” a high risk- high reward strategy to win because is “difficult”, inconvenient.

Sure, let’s nerf it, while we at it, we can also nerf shoulder the burden synergy with existing perks that make it imposible to win versus competent players.

Every killer strategy: unfair, evil, not fun.
    Survivor strategies: 🤫

Hex builds for the most part suck. A chance to make it a decent strategy emerges and is labeled as abusable. Idk man.

I’m with you if it means just checking this particular scenario, with this one particular killer, with this one particular add on.

In which way is that abusable, that's the only purpose by thrill of the hunt: it's literally only there to defend totems.

If someone is actually so masochistic that they want to use an entire totembuild and defend that at the same time with gens, then the person should have at least a closely okay build that doesn't crumble down to pieces in literal seconds. Not to mention that this level of totem defending is basically demo-only and they nerfed the addon that made this playstyle a little bit easier to death .

its a 4% buff, up to 20%, a total of 70% increase on a totem build, which is a lot, until its a HEX BUILD

devour hope needs 5 hook activations to mori someone, the build in question lights FOUR totems as hexes at the beginning of the game

Yes, the build is hard to fight against if you only fight against it when its to late, BUT!

This is a foreign concept, but what if instead of hopping on a generator first 5 seconds of the game you do other objectives, like….. cleanse 2 hexes??

Totems are extremely rng based which is why nobody uses them, but if YOU decide to take the risk and not bother checking to see if literally any of the 4 hexes that are glowing and instead decide to hop on a gen thats on you, not the build

Also, just a tip but if the demo is busy guarding the hexes, just do gen while u wait for him to get in chase;which he HAS to do if he wants value from his build, when he inevitably does get in chase(there is a visual indicator on screen) do a hex then

Though, i did try this on demo then scratched mirrors myers in a indoor map, with DH, TOTH, undying & hex:face the darkness and I noticed if i hit a survivor early, they take 23.8 seconds to cleanse a totem, with them screaming & resetting the progress every 25 seconds, do what you will with that

I can't think of a post where you haven't been trying to stir drama and make this an 'Us vs Them' thing.

Why? Why can't you just contribute?

since every killer and their moms are running this build now, I’ve seen it’s applicable for several killers. Hound master (with her screaming add on), doctor, singularity ( newly buffed add on), trapper (will know when you disable his traps), and any killer running face the darkness and etc. I thought maybe people won’t be masochistic and WONT run this build since it’s so miserable to go against, but I gave killers too much credit. More than 50% of my games have been running it the past few days I’ve played. Had a match where Houndmaster didn’t really get hooks for devour hope to activate, but I was the first survivor downed with Devour and exit gates were powered. I tried killing myself on my first hook to force the rest out so killer can just get a 1k, but when you’re playing with randoms it’s very natural for them to try to get the save. It ended up being a 4K… Kind of ######### when survivors get punished (uncleansable totems) for being good teammates (leaving no one behind). That’s just my opinion

The videos are already out. And despite the mountains of evidence showing that Thrill is broken, some people still insist that everything is fine…

I mean if you dedicate your life on it of course it's possible to use with a lot of killers, still don't have the synergy demo has with totems because of that addon xD

And well I guess it's new, I didn't try it yet and rather did almost all adepts (excepts michael, hopely tommorow) because my girlfriend wanted to see it. I imagine it quite funny and that it actually feels good to not get your totems cleansed in seconds xD

(Btw the killer is sadistic if he runs it to see you suffer, he'd only be masochistic if it would be pain to use and he'd do it exactly because of that xD)
