Does anyone in this community have an original thought?
Just went against 3 killers in a row with the exact same build. Thrill, Face the Darkness, Devour Hope and Pentimento.
Is this seriously the vision you have for the game Bhvr? Playing totem cleansing simulator?

I invented the build so yes, at least one of us does.
I prefer Plaything tho for Face the Darkness value
3 -
Well, I came up with the concept of giving OG Freddy the Incapacitated status effect during the Dream Transition, so yeah we have original thoughts.
7 -
oh wait one of them was running Plaything. Thank god for variety
2 -
I had the idea to turn off the sun on eyrie and I still think it's a good one
8 -
i mean, i always wanted a second power for nemesis that allows him to instantly kill all 4 survivors at the start of the by pressing a buttom with no downsides, no build up, no cooldown and no CC, we certainly have some masterminds around the community
5 -
the patron saint of original Freddy thoughts 🙏

Hahaha, I appreciate the compliment, my friend, but to be fair it didn't take much.
I just thought about the main complaint me and other OG Freddy mains had: being unable to stop survivors from interacting with the objectives during the Dream Transition, and DBD just happened to release a new status effect that conveniently prevented survivors from interacting with objectives.
2 -
Incapacitated was Freddy's status? Wow, I would have thought it were Twins. TIL!

As a killer main, I generally dispise overpowered perks. Literally cant even bring myself to run pentimento. I like to synergize with unlikely/unpopular stuff.
I didn't like jagged compass until I experimented with it just a little bit. Now my new favorite combo of crap (just discovered today) is hangman's trick/jagged compass/mad grit/gift of pain.
Might switch out gift of pain for something else. I find myself purposely not going for scourge hooks early on, in order to create more scourge hooks with jagged compass.
This build gets nuts after you've gotten like 4 extra scourge hooks
Edit: maybe just aggitation as a replace for GoP?

Thrill JUST got buffed, so it makes sense for people to try running hex builds that they wouldn't have been running prior. Considering Thrill's effect is specificly only useful when paired with other hex perks... you're going to see it paired with them.
Been running this combo tonight personally

This isn't anything new. People will flock to whatever is an effective build when people start talking about it. I remember when DH had a 75% usage.
3 -
Totem cleansing simulator lol how is it any different to generator repair simulator?
3 -
Well we feel slightly creative as we go for gimmicky thematic builds. The new survivor has treacherous crows, clean break, for the people, shoulder the burden. Surprisingly we've yet to see others run this.

DH had the 75% usage in high MMR (small minority of players) only. It was something like 25% usage in low MMR and 40% usage in mid-MMR if I'm remembering the stats correctly. The build OP is referring to widespread, it was literally in 100% of my games the last day i played (last week). It'd be because of content creators hyping it up.

People who want to abuse busted perks will do so, they're opportunitist.

People complain about the Thana nerf, but this is exactly the same thing that happened then too.
They overdid the changes, and every. Single. Killer. Ran Thana, pentimento, and some combination of two other slowdowns for two weeks until they nerfed it.
I still vividly remember a huntress match on the chapel map. She lit exactly one pentimento totem every time once of my solo q teammates cleansed anything to keep the gen debuff running. I did the last gen injured by myself and it took nearly 3 minutes. Screw that.

people on both sides will usually pretend they are casuals while playing the most busted builds game has to offer in order to maximize their winning chances, nothing new.
6 -
Same could be said about survivors who keep running top metaperks all the time
4 -
I have one: Pre rework Haddonfield looked better.
4 -
Oh no, Hex Totems are finally being useful! Shocking, I know
4 -
Unfortunately there are some very sad people in any game who will hear that something is broken and they will take full advantage of it until the issue is patched out. The sad reality is there are unscrupulous immoral people who have no issue with using something they know is broken, just to gain any advantage possible. BHVR should have killswitched the perk until they fix it.
Hex perks are strong and as a balance they are also high risk; high risk/high reward mechanics.
Thrill is not high risk, just high reward and 45 seconds is an eternity in a game like DBD. You can always count on unethical people to fully exploit something they know is broken and this is exactly what is happening here.
7 -
I mean I never run perks and for some reason it's still viewed as try harding and toxic
1 -
Yes, it did.

because gens progress the game? How is this even a question and who upvoted it?
🤡

Unfortunately the majority of any community are not free thinkers. That said however, in anything like DBD's case there are not proper tutorials or recommendations from within the game itself, so people have to look up all the information themselves and use another person's ideas. :/ Stuff like bad tutorials and not giving players more information within the actual games causes a lot more player retention loss than these companies realize.

With the way they are placed in the game a.k.a. right in front of survivors, it's not even high risk. A totem build used to be zero risk for survivors and zero reward for Killers because they didn't even manage to get any value because it took less than a second for survivors to find totems and even less time to cleanse them. Survivors has endless zero risk high reward second chance perks (which they abuse to the fullest), map offerings, gen speedup perks, but God forbid Killers get a buff for hex perks that actually gives them a reason to use hexes.

Lol so people are ok with generator repair simulator because it progresses the game? You missed my point entirely. But ok let's go with that, it's ok if it progressses the game...slug simulator is fine because that also progresses the game right?
1 -
Correct - the fact that you saw the same build 3 games in a row definitively proves that nobody in the entire community has an original thought 🙄
2 -
Replace Freddy's claws with 4 miniature billy chainsaws and the thumb is bubba holding a chainsaw
dont think anyone has ever come up with that
2 -
They’re fixing it in the hot fix. Relax. It’ll be released this week.
0 -
Did they announce that?

The same people will likely come here after TOTH is addressed complaining about survivors being OP, because the perk/builds increased their MMR into a higher bracket and they can't compete without it. I don't know why people embrace busted perks all for the sake of wins. All repeatedly winning does is bring high MMR misery. There's no pile of gold at the end of the SBMM rainbow.
6 -
Yes.. an official statement.

Do you have a link to that?

They copy their builds from streamers. Then they get over used, nerfed, cry about it. Wash, Rinse, repeat.
At least my Killer build is mine 😆

As someone who plays Pinhead, I find the box a big enough slow down/annoyance for survivors that I don't need to run the strongest build there is. These days, I've taken to running spies from the shadows, lightborn, eruption and discordance. I guess you could call it an aura reading build with a dash of gen slowdown and not one to be messed with. Mostly, I just enjoy chasing people and getting hooks. I'm not playing hard for the 4k.
I don't mess with Hex builds anymore. I feel like whenever I'm playing survivor, nobody cleanses any hexes, and either I can't find it or the killer is guarding it with their life. But whenever I play killer, it feels the survivors are all running detectives hunch and those totems will be gone in sixty seconds lol.
1 -
Ill see what I can do.

Yeah good point, using broken stuff to put yourself in easy win situations is indeed going to put many of these people in an MMR that they don't belong in and once that broken combo is fixed they are going to have a pretty rough time.
I assume they are lower MMR as I find good players tend to view exploiting broken things as 'cringe' and wont resort to that to get cheap wins

You have been playing generator repairing simulator for eight years, it's not like totem cleansing is any more or less exciting...
1 -
I’d like to see it too

Does anyone in this community have an original thought?
I think I do.

”Live balance changes from recent ptb” aka TOTH.
There was also a separate dev response on twitter I believe regarding this.
0 -
Thrill of the Hunt has 3.55% pick rate acording to Nightlight. That means you see this perk less than the after nerf Prove Thyself (7.53%) on the survivor side.
1 -
If memory serves, TOTH change wasn't on the PTB. She's saying whatever she's talking about came to live in the same state as it was on the PTB. Sounds like she's talking about something else.
1 -
You know?
If they don't want hexes busted but want them more useful, why not nerf TotH a bit and also nerf totem cleansing speeds period?1 -
You could be right. There was another post on the forums I will try to find where someone said “Realky bhvr, this is the direction you’re going with totems?”
and the devs answered - and had mentioned adjustments will be made in the hit fixes this month. I’ll see if I can find that one too.0 -
They just released bugfix 1 and TOTH isn't on it. Someone posted a screenshot of the devs saying it'll be on bug fixes 2 though. Not sure exactly what it'll be... If it was just gonna be a numbers nerf, that's would've been a quick change. Maybe they're just changing how screams interrupt cleansing.
1 -
it's almost like it's hyperbole! Wacky, I know.
1 -
im gonna guess most of the players I go against do not use nightlight
1 -
Well, if you ever find yourself losing, you'll know who to blame.
