I am surprised at some conduct...
that is allowed to go unpunished in this game.
I watched a streamer who plays Billy and he is extremely good with him but he plays every match by slugging the entire team and bleeding them out in EVERY match.
How is this not considered griefing?
He does it very intentionally to make the experience as miserable as possible for anyone he verses and seems to get great joy from it. He has been streaming on and off for years and every match he seems to go out of his way to make the experience as miserable as possible for everyone else.

I disagree, making people simply have to endure 4 minutes of being unable to play the game (even if they had U/B he pretty much immediately downed them again anyway). I play a game to play the game, not be forced to do nothing for 4 minutes because some weirdo gets a kick out of ruining the experience for others.

I think you should be able to 'concede' the match (leave with out penalty) as this guy wants people to DC as that just gives him exactly what he wants. His intention is to make the game miserable and I don't know how that isn't griefing

My point is, he does it intentionally to make the game as miserable as possible for others and I don't understand how this isn't griefing. He has no intention of normal game play, his ultimate goal is to make people have such a miserable time that they would rather DC and be penalised for it… meanwhile he has zero consequences.
15 -
Slugging for pressure is understandable… I am not new to the game and it isn't that I have not played a lot of killer myself.
That is not what this is and does he say "I will now proceed to grief these players"? Well of course not but his intention is very clearly to grief others and his conduct is constantly very childish, petty and toxic both as killer and survivor. But playing as killer is where he has the most potential for inflicting misery.
He doesn't keep VODS either but the other problem is, slugging and bleeding others out is considered totally fine it seems, even if he does it every single game.
13 -
Survivors don't need more ways to ragequit that bypass the DC penalties.
Just have the survivors automatically teleport to a 2v8 cage if they have been slugged for 1 minute. That puts a time limit on slugging, and fixes your problem.
3 -
Fine, any solution is better than forcing people to waste 4 minutes of their time bleeding out.
4 -
Yep also not a bad suggestion either, so long as it dramatically speeds up the process either way

LAst year I said streamers were going to be the toxic source of this game and I was banned lol. However that's the problem you have these streamers showing purposesly bleeding out with just a way to win a 4K. There could be hooks right there but they just bleed you out because they can. That isn't a valid argument and at 5 gens you don't know how the game is going to go. I have also seen streamers post their videos with them hook camping to get the mori. Since the Twitch requirements for the monthly stuff the slugging and toxic stuff has gotten so much worse. But I agree with you it is technically greifing because they are purposesly holding up the games progress. If everyone is down there is no reason not to hook unless they are all in the same area but you can hook at least one. The hook respawn too. So I feel that all these tactics hooks respawning was a last ditch effort to see if slugging was intentional and we all know it is and now killers are not going to like what comes next.
And also no we can't carry anti slugging perks because unbreakable only allows you once to get up so it's basically uselelss because more killers are slugging for sport.
I want to say at least 70% of my games have slugging in them that I get one crow while on the ground. I play every day too. Maybe it's a regional thing or a MMR thing.
5 -
I honestly don't understand how it isn't considered griefing, that is about all I can really say.
There is no intention of playing matches normally and unfortunately people watching are often encouraging him. I guess I have said pretty much all I can on the matter here but yeah, I don't understand how this is acceptable
5 -
Its also sad when there is a few streamers like me who just play normally and we get this, heck you have killer streamers who tend to be really bias to survivor ttvs 90% of time, had this knight who was also a ttv tunnel me out and still lost via 3s simply cause his ego would not drop chase with me while the other 3 slam gens, if this pity mechanic call conspicuous action was not here, that be a ds escape and 0 kills instead. So killers wanna talk about hatch being pity, so is conspicuous actions.

That won't work, because survivors will just purposely place themselves in situations where they can't be reliably hooked.
And we know this would happen, because when BHVR tried the basekit unbreakable, there were A LOT of survivors purposely creating situations where they can't be reliably hooked, so they can pick themselves off the ground. It was awful.
And it doesn't even take a full dedicated build to do this. Sometimes it was just a breakdown on a corner hook, and the survivors were purposely running toward that corner if they were being chased. Or it was something as easy as a Badham offering combined with a "basement in shack" offering, where it took zero perks and zero addons, but still created situations where the survivors couldn't be reliably hooked.
2 -
If 2 or more survivors are slugged, and haven't been hooked yet, then the correct play is to let them bleed out, because if you hook them, they might self-unhook. Also, I'm often stuck letting people bleed out, because they aren't in range of a hook, and if I pick them up, they try to wiggle off my shoulder.
These game are actually SHORTER if I let people bleed out, because if I let people wiggle off my shoulder, or let people self-unhook, it can extend the game even longer, and it might give the survivors extra chances to win.
And that is why my suggestion was to teleport 60+ second slugged survivors to 2v8 cages. It gets rid of the "killer can't reliably carry a survivor to a hook" problem, and gets rid of the "survivor might try to self unhook if I hook them" problem.
2 -
Yup. There's a Russian TTV that only hides with the goal of making the killer DC.
This game needs a general jerk fumigation and has for a very long time.
4 -
"Slugging is counterable" - And then you guys will complain that everyone is running unbreakable and get it nerfed again.
4 -
Bro are you listening to yourself?
"Slugging is counterable by doing gens" - So the person slugged still has to sit for 4 minutes being bled out.
"Slugging is counterable by picking your teammates up" - As if that's not what people are trying to do?
These aren't counters, this is normal game play and clearly its still an issue.17 -
Killers are showing their true nature with their newfound power role. They act like survivors did many years ago.
Shows there are no innocent sides, just people with god complex with the intent to make others miserable living out their fantasies in video games.
9 -
Allowing survivors to lose bleed out faster from failed attempts, gives survivors yet another way to ragequit in a way that bypasses DC penalties. That's bad. We have enough survivors using hooks to bypass DC penalties, and we don't need to make this problem worse.
0 -
Should we force people to be entertainment for killers then? Endure the humiliation for their own amusement? They also do this when they win the game, bleeding people out for 0 reason instead of finishing it.
8 -
Ive seen a few billy's doing this and its so unsportsmanlike.
Interact with the hooks thats why they were in the game. But this is something that has to be addressed by BHVR its getting out of hand at this point.
7 -
The best solution is to automatically teleport a survivor to a 2v8 cage if they have been slugged for a minute.
0 -
I agree, both sides behave badly though even as a survivor main I will say survivors tend to be worse. Though that also is a numbers thing since there are obviously 4x survivors for every killer
That is how I feel it is, they have no intention of playing matches normally, the agenda is to inflict misery in any way possible.
It isn't even a discussion about slugging as such, this is just the mechanic unsportsmanlike people use to inflict misery and grief others but there are no consequences for this
0 -
I don't think survivors are worse at all except some toxic swf's on comms. For the simple fact that solos don't really hold any power unless killer is super outmatched with less xp/hours. I am not saying they are good people (will elaborate later) but killers have more means to be toxic now and are exercising it.
As a killer the amount of survs bm'ing through the game went down a lot for me compared to a time when survivors were able to mess around and still win. For example tbagging after pallet drops was super common because tiles were super safe and plenty. What I notice now is as long as I'm dominating survivors are rarely toxic, but if some of them feel any kind of power over me they get cocky and bm. Still, my survivor matches are the ones that are usually miserable and L streaks can go on and on and being humiliated and bm'd for the simple fact that I am not as strong as when I play killer. So I am left being a toy for despicable people.
4 -
Oh yeah I hear you there and I do agree actually.
Killers are in a unique position to take matches into a miserable direction and this is pretty much entirely the motivation for this thread and why I find it frustrating they can do this is the first place and secondly that there will never be consequences for it.
There is actually more than one killer in my region who does this intentionally and it seems to be a recent thing, as while it did happen it was not as often as it is now.
3 -
It’s slugging - there’s a game mechanic. Which is allowed despite what the steamer is saying and doing on his own time as a streamer.
1 -
This sort of a thing is a positive. It's stuff like this that gets the worst parts of the game changed for the better. Notice how three genning mysteriously went away when it started getting a ridiculous amount of streamers and youtubers talking about it. The people who play this way will be the first ones to cry when they make any kind of change.
4 -
I sincerely hope that changes, my friend. It will be healthier for the game if slugging gets addressed.
0 -
I agree - It would. I am just not sure how they will change it without impacting normal gameplay.
0 -
BHVR dismisses killer behavior, simple as that.
3 -
mind you, BHVR is openly defending people who grief their teams by going next on hook and never punishes them, let's just not push us vs. them war where shouldn't.
2 -
I actually agree, this just makes this kind of thing even more of a problem than it already is and BHVR will be forced to take drastic action. I watched it happen several times yesterday and people just went and played Marvel Rivals etc instead.
It is actively hurting the game and making the experience miserable for newer and veteran players.
This was my original point, BHVR seems to not have an issue with this. Though I do understand this is probably hard to police as slugging is still a valid mechanic in the game but when it is used to grief and waster 4 minutes of 4 survivors time, for no other reason than because they enjoy ruining the game for others, that is a big problem and it should not be possible.
The sad thing is, I hate when games become over sanitised but the lowest common denominator ruins it for everyone
0 -
Totally disagree.
Giving up on hook is completely different, you still have potential to play the game. When your entire team is slugged you should absolutely be able to leave the match/concede/speed up bleeding out. Making people endure this misery for 4 minutes on a basis that is becoming far more regular is not a great way to treat your paying customers.
But this is not really my point, slugging is the mechanic being used but my argument was mechanics like slugging being used to grief and ruin the game for others is not punished.
1 -
Its been said many times 'normal gameplay' is getting skipped in order to just slug for the 4k. At this point, normal gameplay is an option, and not choosing it leads to one or many being miserable.
Still, BHVR doesn't have a good track record with changing anything for the better. Tackling this still makes me squirm with the inevitable failure that's implemented.
Many good ideas in this very thread. I wonder what BHVR will choose to do.
6 -
I went against him too, I'm pretty sure. He just got lucky, that's all. A superior team would've never lost to him.
0 -
Dude has like 8-9k hours in game and ruins comp players too.
He has now taken to slugging, bleeding out and humping survivors on the ground. Still totally acceptable apparently…
8 -
That's a bad comparison. People letting go is a representative of how terrible survivor gameplay has become from terrible balance. Killers are preventing survivors from playing the game which is griefing. It's essentially cyber bullying.
5 -
If the entire team is slugged, and none of them have a way to pick themselves off the ground, and none of the exit gates are open…. Then the game should just auto sacrifice the entire team.
If the game is honestly over, then the game should just immediately end.
4 -
I have been asking for a 'concede' option (even if automatic) like this for YEARS. I don't think it should be full sacrifice points though, otherwise it just encourages playing like this as there is literally nothing to lose at that point.
3 -
A concede button is bad, because survivors will just use it to ragequit in a way that bypasses the DC penalties, even when the game isn’t over. This should be an automatic event.
And I honestly don’t care if the killer gets reduced bloodpoints for this.
1 -
ahh yeah, unsportsmanlike conduct on your side = devs bad, while unsportsmanlike conduct on opponent side = opponent and devs bad, it's never a "you" problem, it's always an "others" problem
2 -
They need to nuke this play-style. Game need to be fun for both sides, not only one player. Other 4 players in match is matter too.
3 -
It sucks. Yeah I've run into a few TTVs who were absolutely horrible.
I wish there was an easy solution to spite sluggers like this, problem is:
Unfortunately this playstyle is also 100% essential when those 4 other players start getting up to shenanigans like abusing certain map offerings/perk combinations to become unhookable. Or do nothing but hide and seek.
Agreed…but I worry this would incentivize mass slugging further.
It's 100% on their radar. I just hope the solution doesn't wind up potentiating griefing from the other side.
Sometimes it is 100% a counter.
I…huh.
I actually really like this idea.
Cyber…bullying…what?
No. That's an absurd comparison and bordering on offensive. Plus, for every game where the killer has bled the entire team out, I've had a game where survivors have tried to stall the match out by being unhookable or hiding forever.
That's also not why survivors suicide.
Want proof?
It was just as common back before the big 6.1 patch, when the game was incredibly survivor sided. I'm an incredibly chill killer and I see a ton of quitters, much as I do when I dip a toe into solo queue.
People quit because they can do so without penalty.
2 -
This content has been removed.
-
Yeah this is just nonsense and with all due respect, I am going to assume you are nowhere near as experienced as the players I have seen bled out by this guy… some of whom have been playing DBD since release with over 8k hours in game.
Slugging was not the point of this thread anyway, it is just one of the mechanics being abused to grief people intentionally but it is not being punished.
3 -
No. It's hard to do anything about on a regular killer and all but impossible to do against an instadown killer, especially Billy. It's a genuinely crap thing to go up against.
How to fix it without basically letting unhookable squads or hide-and-seekers take games hostage until the killer DCs? That's a good question and there are one or two decent suggestions in amongst the noise.
1 -
If the game was fixed both issues would go away. Yes, that is the devs fault.
3 -
Yep even with WGLF against a God tier Billy it is impossible.
The particular guy I was talking about also runs Coulrophobia and Overwhelming Presence etc to ensure pick ups are as slow and difficult as possible.
2 -
There was a streamer that used to play basement Bubba for views. I don't think he streams anymore. He got irl threats to his family.
1 -
If u allow your team to get slugged that's a skill issue there's plenty of counterable perks to run like the jonah vasquez boon totem, unbreakable, no mither, deadhard and whatever else. If anything I'd be mad at myself or my teamates for bad play style. Most of the times ive seen a succesful slug was because all 4 survivors were in the same area, 2-3 of them were tryna save 1 survivor from getting hooked or hit, or they were too scared to pick up one of the dying teamates.
0 -
This is just such a fundamental lack of understanding of the game I just don't have the energy for this.
5 -
Yeah ridiculous, I got sick of Basement Bubba after the millionth time but of course anti camp destroyed that.
However I would never get mad as it wasn't generally done to grief, it was just a very tired meme while it was still a thing. It wasn't a get angry thing for me, it was just a roll my eyes, sit on gens and get out as it was really just a waste of time and nothing more
