Cosmetic Glitch?
Is there a glitch going around right now with cosmetics? My son has a bunch of stuff i know he is not supposed to have. He has the twitch shirts, 2017 crew shirt ect. He's fairly new to the game maybe a few weeks of play. He also plays on PS5.

While I haven't heard of a glitch like this, I'm also not entirely willing to rule it out.
I will say that it's also equally as likely he got all that stuff illegitimately. Might want to have a chat with him.

my son is not very smart. He is a special ed kid. We also have it to where he can't chat or send messages to anyone on his PS5. He mainly plays solo or just with me when he plays. Last night he didn't have any of these cosmetics and this morning when he logged in he did.

Is there any chance someone else has access to his account? It sounds like someone did some save-editing, and assuming your son didn’t so himself, someone somehow did it for him, possibly without his knowledge.
Might want to contact support.

He is on a Family account and only him and I are on it. He literally can't do anything on it unless I authorize it. He doesn't have anyone on his friends list but me, and doesn't have anyone that comes over. I'm a stay at home dad and both of our PS5's are in the living room. I also sent a email to behavior about the issue, just waiting to hear something back.

Yea, that's best, hopefully it's just a glitch, but by you bringing it to their attention yourself they should be able to both remove them but also not get you in trouble for having them when you are not supposed to.

Is it possible to get stuff illegitimately on console? I assumed it was just a PC thing. Weird situation

No idea. Wouldn’t be too surprised if they found a way, but given everything else here a bug might be more likely.

Maybe he used crossprogression. He linked his PS5 account with a PC account on which a friend of him was able to cheat all of the cosmetics and now he is able to use them on PS5.
Not sure if possible because I don't have a PS5 but this is the only thing I can think of if it's not a glitch and you don't cheated directly on the PS5.
