Never can understand a survivor

SoloQ enters a mystery of what I did wrong. I had a Lara basically bring a killer towards me and then down me slug the Lara till I died on hook and then she got hatch...what did I do wrong? I did gens I played it safe by making sure to not be near the killer as in stop repairing and use the environment to hide not lockers as it was a Dredge and well lockers can be useful but sometimes unreliable. Was it because I had zero hooks? If so then sorry the killer didn't bother finding me plus he started to tunnel near the end so even me taking a protection wouldn't do much plus SoloQ most likely I go down your going to ignore me because I'm just a random you were put with.

That might be it. There are some killers who will give hatch to people they know were contributing to the match, but take others out who they think weren't contributing. I know if I have a 2v1, I'll spend some time checking whether one of the survivors is hiding and not doing gens while the other one still tries. If one of them is on gens, and no other gens progress for a while, I'll go hunt for the hiding one.

And some killers will assume that if they haven't seen someone during a whole match, that person must not have been doing anything useful. I won't do that since that survivor could have done gens, gone for saves, cleansed totems, etc. Admittedly, I would expect all survivors to at least try to take chase if their whole team got to death hook though. But it sounds like that's what happened, the killer didn't think you did enough for the team. …That or they thought Lara's outfit was fun.

Yeah as smurf said, if you are hiding and not progressing the match that is extremely irritating for the killer and just drags out a match that is already over.

If I am playing killer and the last two are hiding, I will definitely let the one go that I keep finding as they are at least trying.

Killers don't like it when you constantly hide, especially when the match is pretty much over.

Wish I had more killers aware like this. I can’t be arsed playing hide and seek and will sit on a gen until I get found. Usually I still get the hook and the rat gets hatch.

Lol bro, so often the case eh.

The rat who hid and let team mates all die on hook over risking a single hook state gets given hatch by the killer. If there is a God, he doesn't care about survivors lol :P

There is an argument that at some point if you have 0 hooks, you should almost be looking for the killer and waving your butt at them, because you should be looking to take chase to alleviate the pressure on your teammates...

As a killer who tends to try and spread hooks and often gives hatch, if I've taken 6 hook stages and you're STILL hiding on 0 hook stages, I'll be making a point of ensuring you die if it's in my power to do so.

I've had so many folks tell me they will give some grace to the survivor sitting on a gen and hunt out the one hiding, yet I don't see it in my games either lol I've been playing for 4 years now and can count on one hand the amount of times a killer has realized I'm the only one trying and my team mate is hiding for hatch. I'm never surprised when I hear of games where the last 2 survivors are both hiding because they've probably both come from games where it's paid off for them, so they're trying their luck again lol

Sometimes it's very obvious to a Killer if a teammate has been doing nothing at all, but at other times they might be extra stealthy yet still progressing the game. Like others have said, the problem is that the Killer will often think you've done nothing at all if they haven't seen you all game, even if you've been productive and popped 3 gens and made 2 saves. So it doesn't take much for the other Survivor to convince the Killer to team up to say "hey, this Survivor did nothing so let me get hatch".

Ideally, Survivors should be good at both looping and stealth, since they're both important aspects of the game play. I think a lot of Survivors neglect the stealth aspect because it's not how their favourite 10,000 hour streamer plays and they don't play cautiously enough. I've played games when I've been the best looper on the team, ended up with no hooks while my team has ended up with 2 each, yet I doubt a Survivor would sell me out to the Killer in this situation, even though the end result is the same as if I'd played it safe and stealthy. Stealth play styles get no respect in the DBD community, hence the nerf to Distortion. Unfortunate, but it is what it is.

tl;dr: Some Survivors will get mad at you if you hide in the hide and seek video game.
