We need to have a Spider killer ASAP!
I'm in disbelief we haven't gotten a chapter that includes a Spider killer. It's amalgam of horror intensified. How many power ideas can be cramped up in this killer? Let's see. Oh, it could build traps either cocoons that act as proximity mines which hatch spiderlings and attack survivors, a massive golden orb weaver web that is very sticky that hinders or immobilize survivors movement, or trap doors where the spider can surprise attack survivors. Pounce prey like a jumping spider, fly with its web, use ground blanket webs to move around super fast, spit acid that deteriorates ones health, inject venom to paralyze survivors, spiderlings as a army of spiders, spit web that immobilize prey or cover their eyes so its harder for survivors to see but they can rip it away.
It could climb objects or the spider can use stealth. The Spider could have so many roles. It could be a trapper, a chaser/hunter, stealth or a strategist. What I'm saying is that the spider has almost endless possibilities when it comes to abilities.
What surprises me the most is that the Dead by Daylight board game has a web with a insect stuck in it. We have multiple spider charms, a spider lore tome, Sable and Hag somewhat have spider like skins and perks that contain a spider such as Play With Your Food and Invocation: Weaving Spiders.
Think about how many original spider killer skins we could have not even counting licensed skins for the spider? It's crazy. Crazy good.
What about arachnophobia? Counter-argument; we got clown, doctor, plague's vomiting, blood, metal, etc. I have arachnophobia too, albeit in a mild form, but that doesn't mean this game shouldn't have a spider. It's a horror game and it deserves a spider as the killer. I love this game because it battles me against the fears that I have and make me more resistant to it.
Behaviour, please, let there be a spider killer in 2025.

Somewhere along the line, a fundamental shift happened at BHVR. There used to be a rule that no phobias could be introduced into the game—which is why The Clown initially had gas grenades/military theme. But the most recent killer is the Houndmaster, and I have friends in real life that are seriously TERRIFIED of dogs more than someone could ever be scared of spiders.
It would be REALLY cool if a Spider killer had an ability to cocoon survivors like the Cage of Corruption, but instead of the survivor teleporting across the map, they would be teleported to the spider nest in the basement. The reason this could work is if the killer can only jump from object to object with a web — and when areas have been mapped — they can use the web to move around areas quickly like Houndmaster's Search trail.

honestly idk if this is a hot take or not, but in a horror game where your darkest nightmares come true that you have to face, i think it'd be time to man up and face your phobia because all it is is just another killer design. im terrified of clowns and i absolutely HATE going against clown (not even just bc of bottles) but i know that him being in the game is for the best. his design is HELLA cool and so is his lore, so if there ever is a spider killer, i'd be so excited to see the design and lore the devs come up with.

I believe we'll never get a spider killer as a chapter because of its complexity and design. I think it's too hard for them to develop the locomotives and animations for the spider.
Maybe I could be wrong though. Who knows how much they have improved over the years. I do wish we get the spider killer eventually despite the difficulty making one.

Thank you for making this post 🙏
A spider Killer would be so so cool to have in Dbd. The sound of the legs going by as you’re hiding… the other sounds it would make… I imagine the face would be like half human half spider or something.
I’m working myself up too much thinking about how cool this would be lol.

A spider related or themed killer would be at the top of my wishlist too

Phobias can invoke psychosomatic responses, so its not always that simple. There are people who already quit vs clown/plague as it is (even others like artist) due to not being able to stick through the matches, and I honestly feel worse for them than I do the people who ragequit or go next out of impatience. I don't think they should be adding more phobia adjacent killers until they improve their options regarding the existing ones in the game (locally selectable options for things like vomit noises, a local override for clown to have his face hidden like some of his cosmetics, local replacement sounds and visuals for artist crows, etc.) These things aren't even terribly difficult to program, and there are ones that could be made for a spider related killer, but the track record so far is non-existent. Given BHVR's wishy-washy approach to accessibility I don't see them rolling out options like that any time soon, so I don't think putting more players into that situation is a good idea. Especially when people already abandon games too much as it is.

As long as it's not a boring humanoid spider combo.

scary killers in a horror game are out of the question lmao

Thats not even remotely what I said? My point was that it would be a poor choice for an inclusion when there is zero opt out and people have been playing (and investing) into this game for up to 9 years at this point. The terms of playing the game change over time, but some considerations for inclusions are more logical (I.E. Will including a spider killer alienate more or less existing players than it would draw in?) than just "what would be cool."
