Why are Survivors so triggered about anonymous Killers?
I've noticed lately that survivors seem to get really triggered when they can't stalk my Steam profile. I play killer with an anonymous profile and hide names (both survivor and killer) to just focus on the actual gameplay, but apparently this is some kind of cardinal sin?
The amount of salt I get in post-game chat just for having a private profile is wild. No toxic gameplay, no tunneling or camping - just the mere fact that they can't see my profile seems to set people off. And my profile is literally empty anyway, so what exactly are they hoping to find?
To the survivors who get worked up about this: What's the deal? What dark secrets do you think I'm hiding by wanting a bit of privacy? And to other killers - do you get this kind of reaction too, or am I just lucky?

Gonna need to grab the game warden, people out here without their fishing license.

Anytime someone gets mad that I’m in anonymous mode, I assume it’s because they wanted to say a bunch of slurs on my Steam profile. Too bad so sad, angry little guy!

just ignore them. They are just mad they can’t cyberbully you. These people are not worth your time

Us vs them, killers do the same thing, I keep my name annon and when a killer cant see my name, they get really salty and by this I mean killer streamers so its not a survivor only thing and most remove annon mode posts are mostly from killer mains.

It aint just survivors to killers, or even limited to DbD. Anon mode has always been somethin that sets people off. The reason? The same that Im not a famous dbd streamer yet. A mystery

I play in anonymous mode. When I check out streamers from my matches, none of them have ever commented about me being in anon mode. I'm on console, so if anyone's ever said anything in chat I wouldn't know.
There's no reason to care if other people care you're in anon mode. It's a video game, you're playing with strangers over the internet, it's no one's business who you are.

People are very weird about anon players in this game. In my experience, they really don't play any differently to the players that don't hide their names.
I play anonymously myself, just because I don't want my opponents or teammates to treat me any differently if we've played together before. Since it feels like at times there are only about 20 players on the UK servers, this happens more often than not.

I played countless matches with anon mode both as survivor and killer and I don't remember anyone getting mad just because I was anon. If you play in a toxic way while anon THAT triggers people

Basically what they want to do. People who complain about anonymous accounts are toxic asl and want to vent a whole lot of crap onto your profile or even your stream. Toxic survivors mains are in the wrong roles.

Because they are looking for something to blame their loss or bad experience on. Both sides do this, when they have a bad time or lose they look at the opponents for something to blame rather than looking at what they did wrong. Gotta open the profile and check hours, etc etc. When they can’t do that, they get mad, because now the only thing they have to blame the loss on is you in anon mode.

I've honestly never seen people get as worked up about people daring to use privacy features in any other game, not even people getting steam blowing out of their ears in anger like a cartoon character over private profiles/stats in Overwatch comes close. And it's really not a survivor/killer thing, this whole "Oh, you don't want me to see your profile? You must be hiding something!" mindset as weird as it is comes in all sorts of forms.
Can't possibly be that I don't want people to browse my stuff while still super mad, it must be to "hide swf" or "dodge "deserved" -reps" or whatever else. Not even just anon mode, some of the same people get big mad if you have game hours or friends list hidden as well.

Because people play competitive multiplayer games to abuse and bully others. Survivors never feel that tbagging at the exit gate before escaping is enough - they also need to go to the Killer's Steam profile and smear their verbal feces all over it. When they're denied what they think is their God's given right, they become furious.

I only play in Anonymous Mode because I know the game is streamed to a live audience and I've always been afraid someone watching a streamer would send me a nasty message or make fun of me for making a mistake in the game. This has not yet been brought up in the thread, but for awhile, people thought anonymous mode was a cover for using cheats or cheating.

From what I've seen, it's a case of the anonymous player talking smack in the end game chat but then hide behind the anonymous setting which seems to rub people the wrong way.

Both sides have players that complain about annonymouse mode because they don't like that they can stalk the profiles in pregame lobby and they can't send messages to the players post game. They then try to shame the anonymous players, usually accusing the players of being cheaters or complain about something petty from the match.
Before anonymous mode it was the same for people that set their profiles to private. It'd anger the people that wanted to stalk the profiles and they would say it must be cheaters/bad players, not people that didn't want someone harassing them because they're a sore winner/loser.

I have two issues in general with anonymous mode (although mostly survivors because I play killer 95% of the time):
First - I want to know against how many hours I played just for me, it really doesn't matter in the end if I know it, but it just interests me.
Second - This mode is super often just used to issult people without any way of getting back at them, it's not even like I'd focus them then, but it's just annoying for me.
For reference: I'm never toxic about people using it really, the first just annoys me but is fine, the second annoys me a lot but I'm also not really toxic there.

Personally I don't play anon mode but most people in Asian servers (where I play) are anon mode. The few that aren't anon got multiple bans and VAC bans on record lmao.
I play mostly killer… when I win 99% of the time no one stays in the endgame chat. When I lose I mostly get gg ez from anons. It doesn't bother me play with anonymous people, but I've made friends with people from DBD that I played against.

I stay off of anon mode to invite stalkers to my profile lmao… Let them look how much of a gamer I really am, you mfs (My friends) do not have badges like me fr.

Maybe because often anonymous killers play more scummy. They either tunnel really hard or slug to bleedout and do the killer tbag. That has been my experience too often so it can be reason for some.
But it's not just killers, anonymous survivors are either toxic or hackers in my experience too often as well.

This is conjecture without proof

This are not only Survivors who complain about Anon-Killers, from this forum we know that also Killer Mains complain about Anon-Survivors.
And from my experience, I cannot really say that Killers or Survivors who are Anon are behaving worse than non-Anon players (aside from Skull Merchant-players, but I rarely see Skull Merchants who are not Anon).
And I honestly also dont care. The only thing which Anon-players should not do is to comment on things which others provide. E.g. if you are Anon, dont insult others because of their hours or because of other games they might play. I have seen this and it is honestly quite pathetic to do that when you hide it yourself.

On one hand, yeah you deserve privacy if you want it. But I've noticed that people with Anon on are typically the worst people ever in post game chat. I say just ignore the wannabe cyberbullies, who cares what they think
