Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Should Unrelenting Work When Hitting Killer Objects?

For starters, this idea came to me when thinking about Xenomorph and it's turrets. Basically, Unrelenting is an almost useless perk because its use case is reliant entirely on missing and not hitting anything. It's by and large a waste of a perk slot in its current iteration.

However, as more and more killers over the years have been relying on basic attacks for their powers, such as Dredge, Knight, and Xenomorph, it feels like this upgrade could make the perk relevant without overpowering it. It would help Dredge players better punish survivors for just hitting every lock they see, while Xeno players would be more rewarded for going in for a basic attack against a turret instead of a tail attack. Knight would benefit as well because he would get faster guard cancels.

It feels like this would all be balanced by the fact that this would still be 1 of 4 perk slots, so it probably wouldn't be able to be dropped into every build on the killer. I was mainly thinking it was a way to make this perk into something more widely usable instead of another perk that just sits in the list.

You've never played on Switch, have you? It's very useful on Switch, and I've noticed it more often than not in a killer's loadout when I go against a Switch killer.

Not that your idea's a bad one. Just saying, there is a group of players who find this perk necessary.

No, I'm a PS5 player. Why do Switch players end up using it more? Is it something to do with optimization on the Switch?

Yes. Inconsistent input lag, terrible framerate. Either you keep the sensitivity low so the framerate can keep up, or if you go above 70% sensitivity it feels like the camera swings wildly out of your control. I can tell when I go against a Switch killer because the majority of their attacks, including basic attacks, miss.

Very interesting. I hadn't considered that. A good reason for keeping it's current functionality no matter what changes it gets! Unfortunate that Switch players have to deal with that in the first place.

Sure, it would still be very bad perk.

I think it should work for misses on walls and objects. I don’t think it needs to work for killer power interactions, but I guess it would be cool if it did? BHVR generally doesn’t mix killer powers with perks though.

At the very least a new trapper who hits a wall with unrelenting shouldn’t be punished by unrelenting not working.

Yes it should because the absolute BS the Aim dressing is dragging us into objects instead of the survs

Unrelenting is for when you miss. Sounds like you are on target.

90% of the perks need a buff so... yeah, why not

Would be a nice niche perk for Xeno, and probably Hag as well with her need to TP and swing quickly. Would also be nice as the killers in scenarios such as aim dressing or dodgy misses at windows

It'd give the perk a place on the game beyond being a noob perk.

This is an awesome suggestion, which means it will never be considered.

Honestly yes but maybe make it so whiffing in the air still is 30% and when hitting an object its 15% and wont work on M2s. So it doesnt get power creep on some killer powers.

I'm not sure why Unrelenting doesn't even work on obstructed hits, only whiffing. It should work on obstructed hits as well, which would include turrets. It wouldn't make the Perk good, in fact it would still be bad.. but at least it'd be a little better.

they should make unrelenting affect killer powers. might be useful chase perk for killer powers that almost hit but miss. like pig.

I don't see the harm in having unrelenting work on the turrets like that. If anything I want to see other perks work on killer props like Dominance. Have it work on killer props like Xeno's control stations, sadako's tvs, freddy's clocks, Pig's boxes, etc. Even reduce the time back down to 8 seconds again, that perk needs to work on more things.

It should work on missed and obstructed hits.

Only hits that connect with the survivor will not count towards the perk.
