How do people feel about herbs?

I know, bot discussion and complaining about Legion are much more fun, but how do people feel about the herbs?
Because I kind of hate them as a game addition.
The original idea seemed like a new survivor mechanic, but it doesn't really seem to work out.
Green herb problems: healing doesn't take very long in this mode, usually when you spot an herb you are already healthy, and spending time when injured to get back to that spot is risky as the herb will probably be gone.
Yellow herb problems: finding one when you need it is extremely rare. And if you do, it seems unfair to killers. The two times I've managed to actually use one it was because my cage basically spawned on top of a yellow herb. Free hook state, total chance.
They more seem to be giving killers boosts of speed than being used by survivors. As killer I'll stomp on a few throughout the match and the haste bonus to my teammate seems pretty significant.
Are other people's experience different? Maybe BHVR's intention was for them to be nothing more than a luck based, random thing that will disappear in future 2v8. Because right now they seem like a slightly killer sided boost that can swing heavily in the survivors favor if they get lucky on where their cages spawn.

I think they're fine, personally. I've played for a total of around 12 hours (or more) since 2v8 started and I've gotten one yellow herb in all that time. So it's barely made a difference to me. Was nice at the time though. Green herbs are also fine, I've only used them when I've seen them near an unhooked survivor (or myself when unhooked) and it just shaves off a few seconds from my team mates healing me. I havent played killer in this mode so can't speak to their experience.

I don't think I've actually even SEEN a herb yet, the bots keep devouring them

I like them, the yellow herbs are cool, and the green herbs are useful in a pinch. Good to know they are beneficial to both roles, I like that.

I think they're a good addition and tbh I kind of would like more stuff like that in 2v8 as well as regular 1v4. Adds some flavor to things (because they're herbs, get it).

I think they're good! Yellow Herb especially does a great job delaying first kill when the bots aren't stealing them the moment they get off first hook.
Hopefully with the bots soon to be gone they'll see even greater value.

I thought they sounded OP when they were first described, but they are impossible to find when you actually need them, so they don't really matter. In the matches I've played so far, I got one green herb when I actually needed to heal, and got a yellow one when I was already on my way out the exit gate — just because I wanted to see how to collect herbs.
I didn't know the bots were eating all of them, but that would explain some things.

Well the themed gamemode needed some unqiue machanic to keep people attracted to survivor, and they just make the role a whole lot worse for killers if your team is good enough to use the yellows. Most people don't bother looking for them, or just using them when they appear which is a big mistake. Losing a stage for free is a pretty broken feature, better than shoulder the burden, and with 0 downside.
If they plan to keep this macahnic in with a new visual, there needs to be a risk factor to using it, maybe exposing the survivor which would essentially cause no downside and no upside. They should also inform all players when a stage is lost
Personally after taking chase for 7 minutes total in one game of 2v8, roughly 3.5 minutes each killer, getting targetted is inevitable, I found a yellow after my first long chase with a wesker, and boy was he unhappy to see that i was 1st stage again after spending 5 gens worth of time chasing one guy and not even infecting them.
Herbs should also have a cooldown before reappearing, and should also warn players of their presence universally. They can also give all players the aura of them, then we can see both roles clash for that sweet herb if they want ut so badly.
Yellow Herbs could have a more unique effect on killers, a speed boost feels boring comapred to the free health state and stage loss survivors get. Maybe yellows cause random survivors to become injured, like a poisonous herb in a way, or they can reveal the auras of all survivors for 20 seconds instead, something busted for all killers to access equally, and broken enough as losing a stage

Are they strong for survivors? I'd have to consult with the bots on that.

💀 like you said, rare but broken

Actually, no, that was just me.
I ated them all.

On a personal level the yellow herbs bug us a bit but they're overall fine for the mode. We wouldn't want them in normals but a nice chaotic mode like this doesn't do much harm and killers can break them as well so theres that wonky balancing act. Strangely despite claims from the above we've yet to see a bot actually use them.

Oh they use greens quite often, tho I've never seen them use a yellow before. I think they're coded to be more empathic anyway, so they could be ignoring them on purpose for players to use them

We realize we worded our post a little poorly XD
None of us have seen a bot use any herb strangely, in fact I personally saw a bot completely ignore one (didn't pay attention to the color though)0 -
I like the herbs. They're not a mindblowing or terribly exciting addition or anything, but they're still appreciated.
I've only gotten regular use from the green herbs, so far. I think I've only found the yellow herb when I've needed one twice in about 20 Survivor games, but the green ones seem fairly plentiful. The yellow herbs would obviously be busted in the main game but that's OK. 2V8 is the place for busted and unbalanced things.

Gotta watch their hook states. I consistently watch them go down, that's how I know.

I think they are a fun alternative to the awful comeback mechanic that got added in the 2nd version of 2v8.
But, they do spawn when you don’t need them. The amount of times I passed a herb when not needing it, but it was gone when I did is really interesting.

Wait, can the killers see them go down? That'd be kinda funny actually XD

They're fun.
The bots need to be scripted to not use them.
It'd be more fun if you could pick up and carry an herb to apply to another player, but balance wise this'd obviously advantage the already advantaged.
Maybe it would be more fun and somewhat balanced if you had to collect and combine them, like in resident evil, the red+green for the hook state removal. And with that you could carry them around.

I wish they grew as a bunch, that created an AoE haste effect (for Killer) similar to boon totems. The haste would last until all the herbs in a patch were consumed.
In otherwords, I dislike that Survivors and Killers compete for the resource, and I would prefer both sides benefit from their effects simultaneously. In effect, they help Killers in chase early game, while providing survivors with a limited resource against the forever mending Legion gameplay loop.0 -
idk how to feel about them yet because bots end up using them way before any human player manages to lol

base-kit shoulder of burden in 2vs8. the issue is bots take all herbs so… yeah.
0 -
No, just survivors lol if you're only playing killer in 2v8 then yeah, that'd be why you haven't noticed the bots taking them

Pitty, would have been hilarious to see. We'll take people's word for it since we don't pay enough attention to bot hook states as survivors.

I love the idea. I think along with tile generation they add another lever of difficulty adjustment for the Survivors.

Only time I've ever seen them is running around after all the gens are done when I have no use for them.

I expected them to be broken/op for survs and useless for killers (as searching them in the First Place would already nullify their effects)
… but having played plenty of matches on both sides they are completely fine: as killer you don’t really notice them as you get cages all the time and healing is Fast no matter what. As surv yellow herbs are super rare to find when you actually need them and Green herbs are just a Great solo alternative to altruistic heals in this Mode but not really broken
it’s also „similar“ to yet another suggestion i made on these forums and though I don’t know if they Tool inspiration of it (likely not - as i already took Inspiration from RE and this is an RE themed Event) I am happy to see it implemented just because of this0 -

They feel a bland addition, exactly the same as all the class powers for this game mode.
The only really fun iteration of 2v8 was the first one.

I don't like the killer haste
