Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Invocation: Weaving Spiders

Hey guys, I just tried to use Invocation: Weaving Spiders for the first time other than when I tried to do the Sable (adept) just for memes and giggles. Bear in mind, when I did my Sable adept I did not use it because I always found it to be a waste of time.

What I found in the 5-6 games that I played was that it was a huge time sunk, I don't like the fact that I have to hold it (I guess for accessibility, it's to help you stop doing but I'd rather it just be a button press and I can just cancel it at any time - but that's just a minor gripe of mine lol).

I only found it to be viable in one game where I went against Huntress on Dead Dawg Saloon and I ended up still dying, but accomplishing a three man out in a duo-que mind you, haha.

From my experience, I find that it is completely opposite of my regular playstyle because I usually do a gen, pop it, hop on a gen, you get it - very efficient player.

However, while playing I recognized a myriad of issues with the perk. Not only am I broken for the remainder of the trial (I actually had the bright idea to do it when I was already hooked once and injured, I run straight to basement and invocate). But it is a huge time sink for little reward I found. If anything, I would change the broken status for the remainder of the trial OR I would decrease the time it takes to invocate (which might be a controversial change, but I find that no one will come to basement and help with the speed) - if anything, you're just sitting in basement for a minute and staring a ground the whole time.

I get what Behavior was doing was to make it seem more cooperative, but I truly felt like a detriment to my team for bringing it. Mind you, I was not running No Mither like regular types I see because I value having my health state, lol.

The build I thought was the best for it that I used was Resilience, Deja Vu, Sprint Burst (to help me because I'm practically one shot all game lol), and of course Invocation: Weaving Spiders. I died every single game, killer perks like Grim Embrace and any gen locking perk obviously can counter it, and I found myself in situations where I had to think is it good to go and invocate against a Blight, which I obviously decided against but still died lol.

It was a fun experiment and I just wanted to share, it's good for breaking up gens later on in the game but it definitely needs something to counteract how much you feel like you're being useless in the trial.

It shouldn't be denied by gen blocking, that's for sure.

The Broken penalty isn't the best fit, Exposed would be better imo.

But, I don't think it should be made faster. 60 seconds is a fair time for a permanent effect. What I'd do is make it so joining the ritual increases the reward, but doesn't speed up the process.

If you want to run Invocation Weaving Spiders, here are a few tips: -

    • Consider Distortion or Off the Record to inform you of/block Auras the killer has in play.
    • Consider Resilience to help crank gens faster and help with loops once you've completed it. Alternatively consider Prove Thyself.
    • Consider Dead Hard or Off the Record to make you harder to focus down.
    • Consider Iron Will to block your grunts of pain and help stay hidden.
    • Do not take No Mither.
    • Be aggressive at the start, go for risky gens and try to take chase to make use of your 2 health states rather than give a health state for free. Obviously when unhooked the first time, point to signal you're fine and don't heal.
    • In your first chase pay attention and make note of killer perks in play. This allows you to assess for Grim Embrace, Thrilling Tremors, or other perks the killer has in play and assess the killer's playstyle.
    • Finally, only do the Invocation if your team seems capable of holding their own and the teams in a relatively healthy state where you feel they're not gonna crumble during the time expense.

I've had much better results playing this way that just beeliningbfor basement and then hoping my team can carry without me.

I can see the exposed instead of the broken status effect. I think this would be a better change, but it depends on how long the exposure would last.

@UndeddJester , I did take Resilience, Deja Vu, and Sprint Burst. My friend did come with the idea of bringing second chance perks to allow myself to be more viable in the long run, but I'll probably tweak with it again. It just feels unbearably slow for the amount of time you get to be down there, while there's chaos ensuing outside of the basement lol.
