Back to 10-20 minute que times 😭
I loved the new system now it's back to waiting forever 😢. Is there anyway we can come to some compromise?
What are your thoughts?

The devs said on twitter that they are working on improving the matchmaking. So it's just temporary.
I think it was necessary to revert. New and inexperienced players got scared off by having to play against red ranks. And you got matched with players from all over the world, so you often had bad pings.

It has always been this way

Sweet! I don't have Twitter so that's great to know 😊 Thank You ❤️👍

We allowed people to complain on the forums about the new improved system and not enough of us defended it. We only have ourselves to blame.

@JawsIsTheNextKiller The new system had big problems. It couldn't stay that way.
The devs keep working on the matchmaking and I hope they can go live with a reworked, better version soon.

@JawsIsTheNextKiller To be fair, the complaints was about high rankers getting matched with low rankers and vice versa. Not that the games were faster to find and get into.

The new system had too many flaws. Though a few people saw improvement, the vast majority were seeing their game become almost unplayable. Out of 70+ lobbies I had less than 3 with ping below 300. Out of 20 survivor matches there was only one killer from the U.S. with ping below a hundred. The rest were from Eurasia with 300+ ping. 45 minutes of lobby jumping to get a 250-300 ping lobby was not worth it. Add in the fact you rarely got a killer, or team mates, of appropriate rank and the new emblem system and you were all but guaranteed a depip each match.
It was not much better as killer. Survivors from across the world blinking around with their high ping only to learn you just destroyed a group of rank 20's.
No, that match making was horrendous and needed tweaking. They made the right move here for the majority of their players.

It’s weird. I’ve found games real fast the last two days...

@Gorgonia - Same here actually, but only for survivor. I can't get a killer game at all.

I played both. Had no issues finding a game.

I don’t get how people are getting longer lobbies... Playing duos yesterday and the day before me and my friend was getting lobbies in 20/30 seconds each search and a minute max with a 3 man swf, we played for 3 hours and played a lot of games. We was waiting forever with the new system.

That's because they changed it back to the old way. With the time indicator change, the new way, on PS4 it was sooooo much quicker. Alas, it's not meant to be 😭😭😂

@Gorgonia that was due to the new way, try now it's back to the old way.

I hadnt any problems finding lobbies with either System. So you probably live in a bad region to play.

@Gorgonia The same for me. It really depends on the rank and the time of day and whether you play solo or SWF.

Doubt that considering where I live but PS4 or Console may be another factor. We just don't have the same issues many times and are penalized for it. Our wait times are notoriously long (20-30min) with the old way IF killers don't lobby dodge. Hence WHY so many play SWF because what do you do for 30 min.

The lobbies were faster because you could be matched with any rank from all over the world
by the way, my lobbies are faster with the reverted system than with the "expected waittime thing"

Are you on PC? PS4 with the old way takes forever and the new way at least you had an option *to* play. Pings weren't bad either but maybe that's due to having a smaller community on DBD, idk...

Which platform? On PC, I can get rank 20 survivor matches, but my Rank 19 killer sits in lobby forever and never gets a match before I give up around the 15-20 minute mark now.
Unfortunately, I enjoy killer far more than survivor. I'm not going to play a side I don't really enjoy just to get a match. I'll just play another game first.
Before the revert, I was getting Rank 19 killer matches within 3-4 minutes even at 1:30am at night on the east coast. I was generally facing survivor ranks of 15-11, but was getting 2k-4k a majority of the matches.

I liked the new way much much better as well!

When the new matchmaking system (with the timer) went into effect, my queue time on PS4 went from several seconds (0-30 seconds) to several minutes (2-3 minutes). Despite having to wait much longer than what I am used to, I didn't mind the longer lobby times since I knew that many people previously has had even longer wait times, and that this small sacrifice on my part would even out everyone's lobby times for the better.
That's all that should have been done. Just the averaging of the lobby times.
But in addition to sacrificing the extremely quick queue time for some people like me (and few others on here), the new matchmaking also went ahead and sacrificed the matchmaking algorithm based on rank, making the game completely uninviting for new players, possibly cutting off most of the incoming population of future players.
Now, if the developers' intention is just that - that they are satisfied with the number of current players and has no desire to grow it more, then it's not much of a problem. They can just concentrate on appeasing the current player base so that they don't quit to just maintain the population. However, if they have any intention of growing the base, they MUST make the game as welcoming as possible to someone just picking it up. And given how complex the system has become over the last three years with each additional chapter and updates, from the days of just 3 killers and 4 survivors with just a few maps, this is only possible through a ranking system that would allow newcomers to face off against other newcomers so that they have the opportunity and time to learn the basics, and a much more evolved tutorial mode in which newcomers can have the freedom to play as any killer or survivor on any map as they see fit.
With the new matchmaking system with the timer, neither is available. In my opinion, Behaviour has taken the correct course of action to revisit it for now and reassess the algorithm so that most people are able to get a decent queue time (~5 minutes) without upsetting the entire rank system for newcomers.

7 minutes just to enter the lobby because this stupid new matchmaking system is back.
