Is the skull merchant rework a nerf?

It looked like biggest nerf for her.

They remove effects- Hindered, Haste, Lock on and Claw trap.

They still give free aura revealing for survivor.

The number of drones has been reduced from 6 to 5 too.

Its a nerf in the sense that shes not the same character anymore because they deleted everything cool and unique to her.

But she'll probably be stronger, 5 victors will be a nightmare to balance.

Whether it's a buff or a nerf in a strict strength-levels sense depends very heavily on how easy it is to get hits with controlled drones. If it's reliable, it's absolutely a buff, it makes her able to force health states in a way current SM couldn't even dream of. If it's not reliable, it's a nerf, because it leaves her effectively powerless in chase like she was with the original incarnation power.

It's a terrible idea regardless of if it's a buff, obviously, but putting this power in comparison to pre-nerf SM (as obviously any working power is a buff over current SM) without attaching it to her specifically depends heavily on the context we don't have in this design preview.

5 "mini" victor since the drone explode if the attack miss, with victor, you have to kick him in some way

Yeah, they can not only hack drones to disable them (because what player doesn't love having their power disabled all match?), but it also reveals the killer for free. What's even the logic on that? They're such expert hackers, of this completely unique technology that only Skull Merchant would understand, that they not only shut the thing down but also hack the whole system to get a visual on her? How does that even make sense, unless it's assumed that there's always a drone looking at her, which there isn't?! And then they reduce the drone count. They do love their arbitrary power count reduction on killer nerfs, like how Freddy still has less dream pallets now than when the concept was first implemented in 2019, because clearly that's what made "S tier" reworked Freddy "OP," hence why it was included in the nerf to that version.

I don't think we can expect Skull Merchant to be viable at all. I knew that was always gonna be the case, but now we can prove it since we have a blueprint to the new, "fixed" version.

Looks almost like a mix of Twins and Artist. Completely different killer playstyle similar to how Freddy got completely changed from his release version with essentially 0 comparisons. I'll wait til I can try it before determining if it's weak or not, but... either way, it ain't skull merchant anymore.

Can't really call it a nerf when it completely changes her into something different. She'll become another projectile/dash killer like a mix between Artist and Twins instead of a trap/stealth. Could be potentially a balancing nightmare if they go through with it. They really should just revert her back to 1.0 or 2.0 with improvements and make the haste/hinder more telegraphed. They've made changes to the base game already which completely shuts down her ability to hold 3 gens forever.

No matter what the devs do the haters will still hate her. I don't ever recall seeing any of them provide any constructive feed back other than delete her and 3 gen hostage which can't do anymore.

Until we can see the numbers, there is no way to be sure. But i feel she will end up being stronger since she will have 5 "Victors" to attack survivors.
