Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

This game would be better without Boil Over and Iron Grasp

They don't change what is a useless interaction between Survivors and Killer. Either a flash-*something* is brought in or the Killer is playing to win.

I would really like a rework of this whole system and associated perks. Getting good skill checks is my worst fear. As far as I can tell, it stops whatever sway the Killer was dealing with. Stops it completely until I hit another great check.

Good skill checks apply 50% sway compared to Great's 120%. Brought to 180% from Boil Over to get 90% of normal sway, not even a normal sway in general. As Killer I feel the great skill checks, perk or no. They're strong. But without Lery's or hook spacing offerings the average Killer won't run into a corner or fall short of hook without another Survivor there.

The 50% good skill check is also reduced by 75% if the Killer has Iron Grasp. That's 12.5%. The reduction from Iron Grasp is a greater difference than the 70% difference in sway between regular good and great skill checks.

Wiggle does nothing important. Not against the Killer. Not for the Survivors. It's basically a mini-game while waiting to see if the Killer has eyes. Either you get hooked or you "wiggle out", stunning the Killer because previous attempts did nothing.

I'd rather the good skill check zones not be there. Especially since these four spaces grow as you get greats. I would rather miss a great skill check and let the pointer continue to the zone on the other side. Getting good skill checks not only does nothing, it makes playing Pong even harder. A miss is a reset, gives me more time while the needle takes the long way.

    Another PlayStation player, right?

Yeah, agreed, dealing with wiggle sucks. Boil Over is especially painful, and I don't understand why it still exists in its current form when it's so lopsidedly strong against console killers. It's annoying on PlayStation, especially getting stuck on doorways. It's a nightmare to go against on Switch: it feels like I'm up to my knees in quicksand or something.

On a related note, Iron Grasp is a super comfy perk to run. (Not a perk I'd recommend using when playing to win, just comfy.)

You guys honestly just lack skill boil over doesnt even guarentee wiggling out the killers grasp unless you dont know how to use your thumbs and walk into walls like a baffoon

If it didn't impair the Killer the hook would be definitive. As useless as wiggle is, I will waste the Killer's time. I'd rather do that than be hooked, immediately rescued, downed again, and lose all that time I could've been chilling by being hooked again. The time the Killer "wasted" doesn't matter at that point. Even though I got two chances.

Boil Over is strong but I feel like it should boost the mini game if it does anything. The mini game taking longer than it is now and BO making I take less time than it does now would make it worth the perk slot. Same with Iron Grasp. It would make the trip easier, but the Killer still wouldn't be able to perma carry.

Imo, it could be reworked to give progress if the Killer goes up or down stairs. Focus more on counterplay that isn't just Killer has to walk funny. I play on Switch and it is inconvenient but I just see it as they came prepared, sacrificing a perk slot that could've been a worse perk like CoL or Flashbang. I notice ppl who run one never run the other.

Iron Grasp is incredible. It adds two seconds to the meter. The hook is assured. The fact it suppresses the wiggle mechanic is just a bonus. If this is the case, I just don't see why the system is still here... Remove the wiggle and the wiggle effects from perks and nothing changes to me. I swear no one runs Breakout and it shouldn't have the Haste as Killers move slower while carrying anyway. Have Boil Over just affect the Killer if they don't go for a hook on their current level. Even if they're heading to the basement Iron Grasp would still lengthen the process for the Survivor on their shoulder.

You can literally use the momentum for boil over if you pay attention to the rhythm, by strafing in the direction you want to go, it just takes a bit of practice lol

I don't see an issue with their perk honestly, the people who cry about them don't want build variety in the game, and that's just silly. Iron Grasp is if you have issues getting to hooks and you want to make it easier, Boil Over is just to waste time in most cases, as it rarely works on an experienced killer without help.

Yes. All of this. Yet if these are things that ppl can learn to do, the system that encourages either side to run perks specifically to do nothing for or nullify the mechanic entirely makes me question its existence. Ignoring mistakes is against human nature, yet we do it.

the problem i have with boil over is on the game map because of certain hook spawns it's impossible to hook some one and it's worse with boil over

I didn't think about it, but whether they wiggle free or not is based on a mini game. While the Killer's agenda wouldn't stop them from drop you and killing you right there, regardless of incurring the Entity's disappointment. Realistically anyway.

I do agree with you as well. You can deal with it, but ultimately it's inconvenient for both parties. You free yourself from the Killer, all you get is a four second headstart. No haste, no endurance. Not that you should without a perk or something. I'd rather wait to get it from unhook. I will get hooked and rescued since it's soloq.

This game encourages wasting time like no other, whether it works or not.
