They brought back visual horror effect on failed Madness Skill Checks for The Doctor
This is a undocumented change. For those of you who don't know, The Doctor used to have this:
It's returned but modified.
- Reinstation: reinstated the visual horror effect on failed Madness Skill Checks during Snap Out of It (removed in Patch 4.7.0), though slightly modified.
- Instead of showing The Doctor's entire face, it now shows various zoomed-in parts of it.

The video you linked is 4 years old..?
EDIT: Can confirm its back! Al though it doesnt look intended since the effect is static and not animated like before (could just be me being baked rn though)

Didn’t they remove it because it could trigger seizures in folks with epilepsy? Unless epilepsy stopped being a thing, it seems pretty dangerous to bring this back.

Wow I haven’t seen this in years. They should bring back old map variants too 😔

Not meaning to sound rude, there is an epilepsy warning at the beginning of the game. People who have it are warned before playing the game, so I think they'll be fine.

This isn’t a reason ADD things to the game that provide zero gameplay value and could harm people.

I Agree this is why they didn't need to nerf flashlight clicking way back in 6.1. I hate to sound cruel but if a game which all games do now warns of epilepsy, flashing sounds or anything sickness and said player ignores the warning, its on them then instead of letting others suffer.

I have a friend with epilepsy who likes DBD, and has been able to safely play it for a couple years. Adding a flashing on screen effect might make them unable to play anymore. But I guess “that’s on them”???
Jesus Christ.

'Letting others suffer'
Grow tf up you're not 'suffering' because they took away the ability to use the flashlight like a strobe light

God forbid your friend try to enjoy a game, unfortunately we have people with the mentality of children.

Nah I'm good.
A few spelling mistakes doesn't take away from what I said.

If they get matched against him they can just leave match. Doctor isn’t a super common pick.
Edited to say I’m not trying to be insensitive, like that sucks for your friend, it really does, I’m just saying the option is there.

Buggy REALLY got stung by that flashlight change, I guess? Maybe the forums need a warning for people who are sensitive to spelling errors.

They did remove it due to epilepsy, but now that it's back they've toned it down a lot so that it doesn't look as flashy, the image is much less bright and it's zoomed on different parts of the Doctor's face each time, so that it's not as visually aggressive. To be honest idk how to explain it, I saw a video on Twitter on how it's working now and everyone agreed that it's much better now and it likely won't trigger any seizures (or not any more than the rest of the images and visual effects in this videogame at least).
I think it's a cool little feature and if it can be added back without it being a risk to anyone, neat. I really hope it can stay, however if it ends up being triggering for people with epilepsy it will 100% have to be removed again. Now, BHVR has made some questionable choices in the past, but I doubt they'd gamble people having seizures again for a little visual effect that was removed like 5 years ago, unless they were certain that nothing of the sort would happen again with these changes.
