Voice acting: Appreciated but Unnecessary?
With the newest survivor chapter teasers having spoken lines we are likely about to receive another talking survivor. Now whether this is strictly in lobby or also in trials is yet to be seen. The question is though, does this overall improve the quality of the character?
Older characters quickly rose to popularity without lines. Do these extra credit additions actually attract players specifically to the newest characters? I think the overall response is neutral, but it does make the newest additions stand out to a stark contrast compared to the majority/older cast.
Can we see a setting for voice lines?
Voice Line Activation: All/Lobby Only/None.
Trial Voice Line Frequency: High/Moderate/Once Per Event
I think the lines are fine to stay and may be especially appealing for future licensed content, but certainly players may tire of repetition or simply prefer the classic experience.

I line the lines they’re a nice welcome qol in my book.

I like them am just annoyed though my re chars only speak in lobbies, Trevor only says one thing at start of trial but nothing during it. Lara atm seem to be the one with the most voice lines in lobby and during trials. The only voice lines I wish I can mute that annoying stupid doll chucky.

Just because she talks in the teasers doesn't mean she will talk in game.
Yun-Jin is an example of that.

Same with the lobby music. I wish we could just have the default on if we wanted. The acoustic guitar's a classic.

should only be done with licensed survivors imo
or in the case of someone humanistic as possible like wesker or the chuckster0 -
I swear there is is some stalker on me like seriously everything post I reply to like even simple I agree is a downvote, why so scared to say who you are?

To be fair, every Survivor for quite some time, including the original ones (see Sable and Taurie) talk in the Lobby.
@Topic:
I hope the new Survivor does not talk, but I am sure that they will. And once again I hope for the option to disable all that blabbering…

This is kind of a pet peeve of mine because I could swear it was stated somewhere in the lore that neither survivors nor killers could talk within the entity's realm due to reasons doing with the entity itself. I think that in the case of survivors it revolved around the entity not wanting them to properly communicate with each other or something like that (insert here a joke about SWF communicating through Discord yada yada). So the fact that most survivors (and killers) yap these days is a bit anticlimatic for me, since when I started playing everyone was quiet except for Ash, who was always a meme-y character in that regard since he comes from a sort of comedy-horror franchise. And that quietness was kind of eerie and unsettling.
Now, if they're going for a fully voiced scheme from now on, then why are the older survivors and killers still silent?! I understand that it's in character for many killers (like Myers) or that many of them are creatures who can not speak (Demogorgon, Xenomorph). But why are some of the most iconic survivors in the game, like Dwight, Claudette or Meg, still completely quiet? I don't get it and it kinda bothers me to be honest.

What annoys me about the voice-acting is consistency. Licensed characters speaking is one thing because they're all from games with voice-acting so people expect them to talk. But then they started doing it with their original survivors as well so now it's inconsistent. And I still want a toggle to make them stop yapping.

I welcome og character voice lines. I think my favorite is trappers when he stepped in his own trap, it’s just precious. They should build on it. I like it.

I like all of them. It gives the characters personality. Alan Wake, Taurie, and hound master are my favorite characters because of their voice acting

I honestly don't care for the voice acting, but not because I find them annoying or anything like that. When I was deciding on a main Survivor, I was torn between 3 options: Min, Adam & Ash. I removed Min from the equation after deciding that she was too common, while Adam and Ash were some of the rarest Survivors to see. And I ultimately chose Ash BECAUSE he spoke in the lobby. It made him unique, and every time I was playing someone else and he showed up, or if I was playing Killer, it was a treat hearing him in the lobby because I KNEW he was there without having to look.
Then Project W happened. Now, you couldn't hear him or any of the other characters anymore. And then every new Survivor (with Vittorio being the only exception) started getting voice lines, and the entire reason I mained Ash, the entire thing that made him unique, is just commonplace now. There are 45, soon to be 46 (not counting Legendaries and counting Aestri & Baermar as one character), Survivors in the game, and 16 of them (potentially 17 soon) speak (37% by the way). And unless they want to re-record all of the original Survivors voices that are just as iconic as the characters themselves (thus removing the iconic voices), I can't imagine BHVR tracking down their old employees and getting them to do proper voice lines.
I liked when it was a rare treat like Ash. The Lyras make sense speaking to each other, as much as I dislike his inclusion, Nick Cage would feel so wrong if he couldn't speak (and those voice lines should absolutely be on the Killer side as well), and Robbie Daymond plays one of my favorite characters in my favorite game as well as a very important character in my favorite series in general, so I love being able to hear him on my new main in Baermar. But it's quickly losing the uniqueness that made Ash so special.

Other player characters talking in lobby used to be a thing but has never been fixed. Hearing Ash talk for first time was hilarious.
Maybe too many talking at once might be a bad idea now though. I like them talking apart from maybe Taurie. It's not the accent it's the whimpering begging.

IIt Is unnecessary, since it doesn't really add much to the lore and is basically fluff. A poor attempt to give this husks of characters any resemblance of a personality, which end up turning into walking stereotypes for you to kill or play as.
IIn my opinion, it doesn't really matter and no, there is no quality on it, since the lore of the game in general is so ambiguous left and right. The lore is going nowhere and so are this characters, therefore is all useless and a waste of resources.

I think in-trial voicelines greatly contribute to the experience, and it's the main reason I decided to play more of Nicolas Cage, Alan Wake and Lara Croft.
What's funnier than you minding your business, suddenly finding yourself in chase and Cage shouting some profanities as you're trying to get to safety?
Or what's more terrifying than Alan Wake screaming for help while on the hook or being carried to a hook, while knowing nobody is able to hear him?
Or Lara's determined and matter-of-fact attitude, inspiring the player to lock in and see it through?
I'm all for voicelines if done professionally. Matthew Porretta, Alan Wake's VA, is an example of that. I don't know what they did to the poor soul in that recording booth, but at times it sounds like they put him in a Jigsaw trap. How awesome would it be if his screams could be heard by others in the trial as well!2 -
Please add an option to disable survivor voice lines!

What I'd like is for related/familiar Survivors to respond to each other, like the Lyra siblings do. Like Leon says, "Claire, it's good to see you," it would be nice if Claire could respond.

What I really want to happen:
- All current DBD sounds are mapped to 100%
- We have the option to turn things down, not up.
- I can turn off Killer SFX, but leave Survivor SFX.
- Give players a choice to be silent, but not a choice to make things louder for a gameplay advantage.

I dont appreciate the voicescting at all. Its totally unncessary in such a game. They could use the money and the work capacities for something more valuable. And I doubt that we ever see some options for getting rid of those annoying sounds.

The voicelines adds more personality and depth to the characters, i fully hope we get voicelines for older characters too.
