Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Type of killer you'd like to see

Not asking for new killer ideas, but what type of killers do you wish we'd see more of?

IE anti loop, mobility, trap, game slow down (think pig traps), stealth ect

Personally I feel like the anti loop killer theme has been overdone a bit. It's been quite a while since we've had some real stealth or game slow down killers.

ehhhh it doesn't really matter to me because if i get what i want that killer will be nerfed into the ground because survivors complain

Alternative playstile killer. I don‘t want more anti loop, dash or what we already have killers. Something new, interesting and unique.

    An endgame killer.

We didn't have one since OG Pig.

Another type of killer would be one where you have a new objective alongside gens to open the Exit Gates.

And last but not least, a new stealth killer.

I always thought it would be fun to have a killer that could leap into the air above the map, and crash into survivors like a meteor. But every time I see something like Space Billy, and most of the map's assets pop out of existence, I'm reminded that it would take some work for the devs to implement.

Mid flying shark (or whatever creature) on pallet height who can appear from above and change the map atmo.

A killer with more than one pet or an ability to make the pets on the map hostile

An etheral killer with the ability to slowly fly and passing walls with cd. But no dash. And the ghost can't harm anyone while in this mode. Kinda mix between Nurse and Onryo?

Yeah I agree. the anti loop/dash has been over done ad nauseum. We need to go back to some genuine stealth killers, slow down killers like Pig or alternate objective/win condition like Onryo. On that note, I feel like stealth killers in general have always been kept a bit undertuned tbh. I feel like they could use some buffs. Like I don't think we've had a genuine full stealth killer reach A tier like ever.

What if it was a killer that gave survivors an alternate win condition? Like other than gates, doing some other type of task opened a portal to escape lol

As much as people think it's a joke I do actually think Jaws, in reference to your idea, would work well. I picture it traveling underground and they could see a fin moving through the floor lol.

A killer that affects the atmosphere does sound super cool! Maybe part of their power is drastically increasing the fog to limit the survivors visual radius.

I always wanted a type of killer that made people look up. Very rarely do we ever need to do that.

thing is with stealth killers they are inherently weak simply because theyre too slow. Thats the sole reason people gravitate to dash/faster paced killers. Because they can get stuff done quicker with (usually) less trouble.

I don't think that's a flaw in stealth killers as a design, but a flaw in their balancing. Essentially they have to give killers, stealth included, that don't have map pressure through dash or mobility, some built in slow down to accomplish the same thing. Pigs a good example. No map mobility, but she's got traps to give her map pressure to make up for it. Now yes Pig is bad, but that's a balancing/tuning issue, not inherent because of her lack of mobility.

I'm divided while I think it needs to be from underground it would be more intimidating if you're already in the element of the killer. With the fin visible it would be announced too early. From underground I would more think of an aligator? But I would like both :)

Yes, I would want any killer hat made us look up and giving more dimensions.

I see your point! What if his TR was more a visual TR than sound? IE the closer he got, the thicker and closer the fog became around you and just a small radius lullaby within like 8 meters. So you'd have very little sound warning before he was on top of you, but you'd know he was getting closer and closer depending how thick and close the fog was getting.

I think there could be a non directional swimming sound if the shark is moving. Like the teleport sound cues.

I don't know what TR stands for?

I'd like to see a new "brute" or "big monster" killer, both in aesthetics and gameplay. Something scary to be in close range with, like Oni or Bubba, which can down you in one hit.

Another endgame killer would be fun or another map control killer. I enjoy side objectives.

Lately though I haven’t played a lot of survivor in general because going against the ghoul every time has me burned out. So I play killer and to give people variety. Go forth! Play with my tvs! 😈 📺 if you dare.

In general I wish I saw more pig players, Sadako, dredge and unknown.

Same I would love an endgame killer power, I love running endgame builds they would easily be my new favorite.

Id also kinda consider OG Freddy an endgame killer, -50% gate speed if they were asleep + remember me. (plus BHVR released him with 3 perks focused on endgame)

Current freddy with full endgame + class photo/pills is a monster at endgame as well

I would welcome a greater focus on ghost entities — particularly those capable of dynamic interactions within their environment. Ideally, such a ghost would be able to actively startle or jumpscare survivors, possess inanimate objects, and even summon additional spectral manifestations by drawing sacrificed survivors back into the trial as minions.

the last four killers i tried to main either released op (kaneki) or got buffed into the stratosphere bc players complain (singularity, houndmaster, oni) so jury's out on if its us or them i think

This might be too specific an answer, but for a while now I've wanted a killer that just excels at M1 fundamentals without any extra frills. Something like, this killer's "power" just being a 120% movement speed and a basekit Enduring that doesn't stack with the perk.

Add onto that a suite of addons for defining playstyles, and you'd have a killer that would appeal very heavily to me specifically.

Kinda like if Waterlogged Shoe Hag had a set of addons explicitly designed around playing her that way, and also you never used her traps lol

That's one way of achieving it, but in general, M1 fundamentals killers would be nice to see. More passive buffs than an active power.

The only rough side of a design like that is that their power level would be made so low because they're so easy to play.

Likely, but I do still like the idea. It's a neat concept.

At first I thought, we shouldn‘t comment on what we exactly want as power. After many did it, I want a shapeshift killer that can turn into a survivor, do gens with survivors, have nice interactions with survivor interactions and do basic survivor things.

I just want a chucky with his original speed, slightly higher cooldown than before the nerf. It doesn't even has to have the stealth-ability or height-advantage, I just want this dash as my main-ability in not horrible xD

(As main-abiltity it would need slight buffs probably if you actually take everything except that away)

  • Blueberry
    Blueberry Member Posts: 14,459

Yeah most people ignored me saying not to post that lol. Shapeshifter does sound cool though. Make it copy the cosmetics of survivors on the team. Them getting the license for The Thing is the perfect time for it.

I would love it to be a behavior original to be honest. I don‘t know the thing, but original chapters get better skins…… After writing that, l came to the realization that the skin wouldn’t matter much, because you would use the survivors skins to chase people (most likely).

  • Blueberry
    Blueberry Member Posts: 14,459

Oh yeah I by far prefer original chapters. They do end up getting way more cosmetics.

i want more side quests and side objectives, make the fun varied for survivors so it wont be as agonizingly boring as it is right now

I'd like to shift the game back to m1 killers with an interesting twist, but NO dashes. Man am I tired of going up against dash killers.

It'd also a lot easier to balance the game around m1 killers than how complex others are.

I love side objectives too. Something different as survivor and I enjoy those macro type killers as well.

Killer of map control or side quests, give survivors something to do other than genes

I have created two killers I would like to see.

One is religious based, inspired by the Nun. Since I like those horrors I would like to see such killer.

Second explores psychological horror we are lacking in dbd. I think dbd is not designed for psychological horror, but at least few such killers could fit there (right now, closest to psychological horror in gameplay we have Sadako, somehow Piramidhead and Doctor, and some others but only through lore)

    @Blueberry

    Thickening fog instead of tr.

Im going to borrow that for my next killer idea creation xD

I just designed small Entity. Credits for Blueberry for inspiration.

    (No details)

    Killer with 8m terror radius.

Passive: Each survivor have it's own "personal fog ring" which radius is tied to distance from killer (minimum 8m, maximum 40m). Yet the closer killer gets, the thicker the fog. At 40m, fog is nonexistent, and 8m, survivor can see nothing beside the fog.

Active: killer starts with 3 traps, and get 3 more for each repaired gen. Traps starts with 0 radius activation, and gets +2 activate radius per each repaired generator (so max is 10m radius). Active area strengthen passive power of killer with various effects (no details), and linger for some time. Trap active area stops at exit gates, but it's lingering effect works in escape zone. While effect is active, survivors cannot escape from trial.
