New Abandon Feature Isn't Just Abusable
I played a game this evening and I was able to prevent survivors from completing generators for 12 minutes. Now that's pretty extreme, but it's true. I didn't use any slowdown perks either. I used my usual off-meta kind of build and I followed my usual play style. I played as the Knight with FTTE, Nemesis, Lethal Pursuer, and Forever Entwined. Add ons were increased hunt duration and oblivious effect after end of hunt. I tunneled maybe once or twice but I did not hard tunnel anyone and all in all it was a pretty normal game. But they didn't get a gen done. I played thru 12 minutes after killing 3 and then I admit I abandoned the game to ensure the 4th kill. This, I reason, is probably an exploit. But it's what Otzdarva and Arinad are doing on stream so I did the same. Obviously this whole abandon feature has proven a bit of a problem but not only because it can be abused with a meme build. It's a problem because even in normal games sometimes survivors do not complete gens within 10 minutes.

Just an FYI, the devs have confirmed doing this counts as a loss of kills for the killer (ie that 4th kill in your game won't be counted as such to the game, only the first 3) and will be made more clear in an upcoming update. You can check the comment section of Otz's YT video on this very topic where he's pinned confirmation as well that it counts as a loss. So yeah it can be done, everyone's aware of it, but there's not really a reward for doing so.

Indeed it does count as a loss when abandon is used. Depending how bad the killer wants to win will depend how likely they are to use this feature at all.
If a killer doesn't care about winning and wants to kill themselves then they will probably abandon after 10min.
If killer wants to win then the killer won't abandon and will continue the match as they normally would before the abandon option was available.
i have noticed survivors are hiding avoiding gens more than usual.... Probably because they hope the killer will abandon the match after 10min

I have no clue about this abandoning system but does it count the match as a win for survivor when killer abandone?
If yes, oh boy, that seems like the best way for extreme hiding squats. Or is not touching gens for a whole match taken into account somewhere?

- in theory DBD is a game about a killer killing survivors, not about defending generators. if in 10 minutes no hooks happen and no generators are completed, it should be a loss for the killer (my opinion). in 10 minutes 80% of pallets are gone so the killer has no excuses for not getting hooks (aka kill)

I still managed to use the 10 minute abandon feature to get an adept achievement on killer. So it probably doesnt count as a win in mmr but the achievements sure count them as kills. Anyone know if they count towards sacrifice challenges?

If the killer abandons than it counts as a sacrifice for survivors.

Oh, you'd be surprised. The reason 80% of pallets have been used is because the survivors have used them to keep themselves alive. I don't think your logic on that match state leads you to the right conclusion.
