Lock ranks

Member Posts: 10,200

Since survivors started to realize how unfair it is if you are versed against a player from the different side of the rank spectrum, maybe we can talk about a rank lock system.

Its common among all other competitive games I know, so why not do the same in DBD?

The killer rank could be used as base niveau and only survivors 3 ranks below and above would be considered for matchmaking. Of course this would mean in return that you could only play SWF with players that dont have a higher rank difference than 6.

of course those numbers are just a suggestion by me, maybe they should be even stricter and be reduced to 2?

Discuss 😉

Maybe it would be a good idea. Doesn't sound bad.

It should be the priority to match people with close ranks with each other, but I am against a strict lock.

Concerning SWF: The highest survivor rank could be the desicive factor when it comes to getting matched with a killer. How about that?

in Swf it should be the average of the eveyones rank. Like you have a rank 20 and rank 1 in a swf then the killers rank should be roughly rank 10

Thats how it currently works and is the way cause for smurfing, especially at rank reset. Ranks should be locked at sone point and SWF should either go for the highest or somewhat above the average.

@nunadventures Assuming that everybody is on the rank they belong to: Imagine a rank 10 killer getting looped by a rank 1 surv. That's not good, isn't it? I think the highest surv rank should have a bigger impact on the matchmaking.

@NoShinyPony oh yea I didn’t really think of that. I was thinking more of oh the rank 1 survivor would be good but the rank 20 survivor would be absolutely destroyed. But I see where you are coming from

They could allow you to choose to rank up or not. You can always lose rank, but you can opt out of ranking up at any point.

Might give players more control over the matches they play on a regular basis and give them the chance for more fun games.

They might have to start looking at people stopping their rank.. since not everyone cares to rank up or not.

    @nunadventures

In other threads survivors bring up examples like this:

as proof that the matchmaking is broken. Thats why the difference of ranks must be locked in a way smaller region.

@TheBean Why shouldn't good players have to play on higher ranks? Why do you think experienced players should play against inexperienced ones?

  • Member Posts: 2,320

    @NoShinyPony

Cause it doesn't really seem like people want that anymore. Maybe some people want to climb up the ladder and face more challenging and try hardy matches.

Some people don't care and are happy playing against those they have fun with.

I feel like allot of issues everyone is having is because of that idea.

I know it goes into the whole trolling of new players.. but some players might want to lock themselves into the purple ranks and sit in there and not go into the reds.

I think one of the biggest issues is this whole MM and emblem bullshit of trying to place everyone were they need to go.... I just want to play.

I get killed in the first minute... I live to the end of the match and escape... I don't find anyone as killer... I get flashlight trolly SWF teams as killer....

I don't ######### care... this ######### is happening now.. has been happening since the beginning...

What are we expecting at this point... Another new MM and new emblems to do what?... Continue on with the same ######### show?

Idk... This game is going far beyond the norm of crazy in my eyes.

@TheBean Thats why we need a casual mode aswell, but thats a different story

  • Member Posts: 1,423

That'd just give people a tool to play against newer or less skilled players. You can't give people control over their rank or they'll just exploit it for easier games.

I think a Casual mode without rank instead would be a nice option.

  • Member Posts: 4,570

@TheBean I believe it's important that inexperienced players don't have to play against experienced ones. New players would lose their motivation to play DbD pretty fast if they got trolled regularly. And at least I would like to see the DbD community to grow.

    @Bongbingbing

They are doing that now... So how is the new MM and emblem changes going to fix that?

    It isn't.

Yeah we can have a casual mode.. but... at what expense. Which side of the coin will most players fall on?....

TBH, It would be interesting to come out with that mode.. then see how the community splits.

In most games thats not a problem because you actualyl want to rank up. Casual is only played if you wanna relax

"Its common among all other competitive games I know, so why not do the same in DBD?"

dbd isn't a competitive game, and your suggestion to prevent people from doing swf with their friends cuz of rank will only hurt the game

  • Member Posts: 13,616

Is at least better than the test we had before.

But they're already doing their own editing, so i'd rather wait to see what they bring next time.

  • Member Posts: 686

This would mean even longer queue times...

  • Member Posts: 10,200

It will only hurt those SWF who wanna bully low rank killers

  • Member Posts: 194

They really need to do something. Someone posted in a discord I'm in a screenshot of one of their matches. There was a rank difference in survivors from highest to lowest of 10. The killer was rank 20. They weren't swf, the highest rank surv even end game '#########'. The killer admitted they didn't even know how to use their power. How's that fair on them?

On that note I also think the tutorials need looked at.

it would make people who couldn't play with their friends quit the game entirely. for example I play 24 hours a week my sister plays two hours a week she only logs in to play with me. I am much higher rank then she is. but she spends far more money on cosmetics then I do. but this change would make her where she would no longer log in and play at all and she would no longer dump money on cosmetics for the game. the only way this change would work is if they had a casual mode. but honestly I think most players would only play casual mode if there was two modes. i know id only play casual mode rank means crap.

For me its funny when killers think ppl are playing SWF only to punish killers xd thats why im also all into spliting que, if someone think rank matters go ahead genrush, play nurse, play 3 gen doc. Im aint doing that sh.. and dont want to play vs that sh.. (for example in this other que, no perks, no add ons, no items)

Mom they are playing SWF OMG they have friends, when im playing with friends avg game time is between 10 and 12min, when im solo its around 7min (and those 7 min isnt when i die, its when gates are open) so its for you to decide if you want to play vs ppl that are screwing around or vs ppl that want to do gens and get out.

About MM im pretty sure devs know about problems with it and are trying to get best possible solution.

And Last but not Least! DBD isnt competitive if it would be, and rank would matter there wouldnt be rank reset every month its just bait for ppl that want to grind rank and show how big e-penis they have.
