The abandon feature for survivors should activate after 30 seconds or so, NOT instantly

So first off, the feature itself is a godsend. But one thing I really don't like about it, as a surv main, is how "aggressive" it is. Like it almost encourages you to abandon instantly when it comes up, even when the killer hasn't griefed or anything and it's just a normal game.

When I play killer, I love giving hatch to last survivor, but I like downing them first and then giving it, so it's a bit more of a surprise. However, with abandon, people just leave instantly 😢 Also, I just now finished a game where I played as Bubba, and I had one on hook and last surv right by me after a failed flashlight save attempt. The chase was over after just a few seconds, but instead of the survivors just sitting out literally the last 15 secon of the game ending, they both just instantly left, and I as the killer am left alone in the game, hooking the last survivor. And yes, the abandon thing came up for me too at that point, but… #########? I feel it kills a part of the game when they can instantly do it, and I don't really see any downsides to making it activate after 30 seconds, let's say. Then there's still some healthy patience in the game, you get more dynamic endings, and survivors can still abandon if there's actual griefing going on.

In both cases the match was effectively over already and you had won. What is the purpose of "waiting it out"?

(This is not directly addressed at OP but more of a general thing - it may or may not apply to OP but I think it's kinda relevant:

I kinda get it; it's kinda in human nature to want to kick down and humiliate the less powerful side and go on a power-trip, stroking out egos - and to then bathe in that feeling of being oh-so-generous by not dealing the killing blow after all. It's something humans get a kick out of. We see it all the time in movies and take part in it in games - and in PvE games that's all good and dandy. But in PvP games there are actual human beings on the other side - anynomised and for their fellow players by default de-humanised by virtue of anonymity and lack of physical presence but that doesn't make them any less human and I think it's important to remember that and not give in to this idk, darker side of primal human nature.)

If the game is effectively over, why does BHVR need the Killer player to stick around.

Once the last Survivor standing is downed, just automatically start the endgame mori.

This is what I was thinking as well. The abandon feature to me is supposed to be to avoid toxicity, not to just get out of the game faster, which is what it is now.

As survivor how would it feel if as soon as the last gens powered the killer can just instant abandon and give yall the win? Yeah you win, but it sours the win as being very anticlimactic. You basically never get to actually see the normal end or running out the exit gate anymore.

It's like if you had a baseball game and the instant it's over, everyone leaves immediately. No announcements, no going on the field to shake hands, just instant leave. It kinda ruins the experience. Going out to shake the other teams hands and see the match off to its end is just good sportsmanship, not rubbing it in their faces.

The abandon feature needs to be for toxicity, not for just going next faster, that's bad design.

not to just get out of the game faster, which is what it is now.

I think it is also intended for this.

If "Abandon" means you take the loss, and sticking around means you give the killer the opportunity to give you hatch, I think this issue will rectify itself. Patient players will be rewarded and impatient ones won't.

If you give someone a choice, you have to let them choose the "bad" one sometimes. Maybe they have different priorities than you or me.

Wasn't that how it went during that PTB where they first had the finisher moris? Wasn't the consensus that while mechanic was nice to wrap matches up more quickly, it led to, and incentivised, a slug-all-four-asap playstyle? - If all survs are bots, the killer can leave too to end the match. The killer just doesn't get the mori.

For all I care once the sacrificing hook animation / the mori has started to play, survs can leave without it counting as abandon (meaning it counting as if they had stayed). - And likewise the killer can just leave without it counting as abandon once all survs are in the exit gate area and also once the last sacrifice animation started playing (i.e. when they hook the last surv standing and no surv can take 4% anymore).

I would love there to be a bit of a delay, there are several times where the abandon feature has appeared while a survivor had Unbreakable or Deliverance or a similar perk that would give them a second chance. I used the abandon feature myself just a second too soon before my slugged teammate picked themselves up 😭

But I agree, the way it appears instantly feels a bit aggressive, like you're expected to leave immediately.

Exactly. It's like killers getting an abandon option if a chase lasts more than 3 minutes. Like, "oh, looks like you're losing this game, wanna go next quickly?"
