What's the difference between Legendary and Asceneded?
Has anyone figured out what the difference is? it's not a licensed thing, it's not a new character thing, it seems just very random?

Kind of the other way around. Legendaries are more expensive than ascended skins.
From the dev stream a while back they said Ascended skins feature extra VFX but aren't quite "Ultra Rare", not sure what makes a skin qualify for a Legendary exactly, but my guess would be significant model changes or very unique appearances.5 -

Good question, the answer to which we most likely will not find. For the most part, I did it more for myself. I was interested in what rare items I got. The rest I decided to do for comparison by 3 colors of rarities.
Basically, I only added those suits that have inscriptions. The deep rift suits have the same inscriptions except for Doctor. The other suits have no inscriptions. Although I know that the Ghost Face mask has a bloody animation, and Jane Romero does cosplay Ghost Face with her ribbons. I still don't understand how Hillbilly deserved such a color. I did not touch the licenses except for those that I got in the archive.
Plus I want to say that there are lunar and Greek suits that change the menu music of purple rarity, but this is not indicated anywhere. There are also suits like Doctor Resident Infestation and Rin Yamaoka Marine Maiden that add an animated aura, but are purple rarity and again are not indicated by the inscription on the suit.
I think wiser people will be able to draw appropriate conclusions from these images.

It’s Visceral because the dog is different, so it’s classified as altering her power. Which is still silly because you’re paying that much just for a dog cosmetic, and is pretty disappointing compared to the other Visceral skins. No way changing the dog should be compared to the effort they put into Naughty Bear.
But the strangest one to me is the Minotaur skin for Oni being Legendary when it’s just a model change, but Look-See is Ascended despite also being a model change, and Knight’s ‘Enchated Plates’ skin is a model change AND has special effects yet is only Ascended…

Regarding Oni, it's probably because of the music in the game menu, although it's not specified in the description. I don't have this suit, but I bought Rin Yamaoka, Artist, and Dredge in the Greek collection. Each of these suits had different music in the menu.
This doesn't change the fact that the system is underdeveloped and hasn't taken into account some factors. On the other hand, you can buy such unaccounted suits at a cheaper price. However, I would prefer that the purple rarity also indicated a special change of music or special effects.
