The solution to reduce matchamaking times is CROSS PLATFORM (Pc, Ps4, X1 and Nintendo Switch)
If want to play with friends the wait times are very long, u need more players for this reason I think u need to put together all platforms.
It's unfair for players on consoles?, maybe due the limitations to playing with gamepad one solution is give small advantages (auto aim with gamepad support for keyboard and mouse etc) and everyone will be happy.
PD: I play dbd on Ps4 and Pc.

Yeah.. so on PC with a pop of 13K last night with 1 minute wait for survivor and 2 to 3 minute wait as killer.
So increase the amount of players they match against?
I don't want to wait for an hour for a match on PC.
I'm not looking forward to when the dedicated servers coming out and the pop increases and we have 5 minute waits for lobbies.

You do know on PC... when there was a pop of over 20K... Allot of players still got lobbies within 3 seconds... However with a low pop the new MM is working worse... so how does increasing the amount of people it is working on help?

I'd argue about advantages, but this game has less fast paced interactions than rocket league and it works fine there.
May actually be worth looking into or attempting AFTER they get regular queues and ranks figured out. If it was JUST the time as an issue, maybe. But theres a lot going on rn.

Once dedicated servers are in, and optimization is at good level, then sure.
Crossplay between Switch, Xbox, and PC wouldn’t be a stretch. For anyone concerned, Xbox mandates that it can be opted out, plus other games have options for “Console Only” Crossplay.
Playstation probably wouldn’t join, considering Sony’s stance on Crossplay. They’ve only cherry picked a handle of games for Crossplay.

Other issues aside Cross platform with dedicated servers and log in BHVR accounts would be an amazing step forward in my opinion and lock in some longevity for the game.

Why does this keep popping up when it's never ever going to happen?
To explain why it's never going to happen Sony 1st and foremost will never ever allow cross platform play. They're way to effing greedy for that even though they'd make way more money if they did.
They've repeatedly said they won't do it and have turned down offers to work on cross platform play.
Then you've got Nintendo who's equally stubborn when it comes to this and has also refused to allow cross platform play.
Microsoft has said for years they'd do it and you've got PC/Xbox but the others will never do it.

@powerbats this info is a little bit outdated. look at rocket league: everyone i know said: crossplay will never going to be happen, but now it is here! the game is crossplayable.
I mean look at Microsoft: after nearly 25 years of developing an operating system as a closed source, they decided to make it open source. Nobody thought about that microsoft will ever kill the good old internet explorer, but now they announced (and some code was already leaked) an microsoft edge browser with the sources of google chrome (chromium).
This is the reason why I am believing that sooner or later this game will hopefully become crossplayable. Perhaps not every platforms supported, but eventually they bring pc, xbox and ps4 together.
In my oppinion it is only a question of time.

@Oimel1987 While i agree there's been movement it'll only be for super huge games because Sony won't do it for anything that doesn't extremely grease their palms.
Sony was offered a chance by Microsoft mid/late last year to collaborate on cross platform to a wider extent they said no. Their response was like nintendo's they didn't want to ruin their unique gaming experience.
They'd still have their exclusive titles like God Of war etc but they want to keep people to their platform only. The only reason they did Rocket League is because the sheer amount of people that were buying it on other platforms.

It doesnt matter at all whether you play survivor with M/K or with controller, it only matters as killer.
This onyl means that console survivors will have to face "real killers" now, nothign else will change

Doesn't even matter with every killer, really, except killers that need near-perfect accuracy, like Huntress, Nurse, Billy. Like someone said, the FPS thing is the biggest drawback. PC players are always overestimating the superiority of M&K with this game. I play PC DBD, both killer AND survivor, with controller and have no problems at all, even getting from Rank 10 to Rank 1 last season with no add-ons and perks with Pig. One does not need perfect accuracy to strike a hit box shaped like a giant pill. 😂
