Dead by Daylight 120fps but is not clean laggy

Hello everyone,

I've been playing this game for years, but for about a year now, I've been experiencing serious performance issues. Even though the game consistently shows 120 FPS, it just doesn't feel smooth anymore. The gameplay feels choppy and not clean, almost as if it's constantly micro-stuttering or lagging.

I've tried nearly everything to fix the issue — without success. I'm using ReShade and some custom icons, but the problem persists even when I disable them entirely. Sometimes the game runs smoothly, but in other rounds, the performance drops significantly for no apparent reason.

Here's what I've already tried:

  • Lowered mouse polling rate
  • Tested with DirectX 12
  • Updated all drivers
  • Fully reinstalled Windows
  • Tried different config settings

Unfortunately, none of these measures have resulted in a lasting improvement. If anyone has experienced something similar or knows a potential fix, I would greatly appreciate any advice or support.

my stats:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X

GPU: Nvidia RTX 4070-Ti

SSD: CT500P3PSSD8 500GB

SSD: Samsung 870 EVO 1TB

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB

RAM: G-SKILL Ripjaws V DDR4 3200 C16 2x16GB

PSU: be quiet! Dark Power 12 750W

I have the same issue. High fps but the game “feels” slightly choppy, then it becomes smooth, then slightly choppy again. Seems like an issue with the frame pacing.

it is definitely playable, though, just really obnoxious. It only started happening to me after the latest hotfix.

Hi, nice to hear from you. Could you please check my computer setup to see if something might be installed incorrectly or if there's possibly a hardware issue?

Everything kind of went really bad when Orela got added. Performance got worse, killer powers became really jank, rubberbanding resurfaced…

Capping it to 60 makes it perform better but not by a ton.
