How does match XP tie into Rift Fragments now?
Kinda curios with the new Quest system, when I played a match, that one indicator didn't pop up that usually counts Rift Fragments progress.
I'm not sure if I'm blind, but I've played and only seem to get progress through challenges now? Though, when I went to the Rift Pass and hovered over Rift Fragments, they still say that you earn them from XP. So.. did they remove that part and forget to update the text? Or am I missing something.

Nope the XP thing appears to be gone, which means challenges are now more important to get done. On the plus side, every challenge grants rift fragments now.

While I love the new challenge system and how it works, that's gonna suck hard. I liked being able to passively gain levels from playing normally. Now if I don't have challenges left.. idk if I feel inclined to play, if it doesn't help me progress the rift

Yeah, I feel like they could have kept that system in place, I feel like they just replaced it with milestones which do give a lot of fragments overall? If I calculated it correctly completing every milestone should grant 38.5 levels in the tome? Although I still prefer the XP rift fragment gain because every match you saw your progress in that go up and usually you gained at least 1 fragment from that, now after a couple of matches you see what feels like zero progress from those milestones.

I'm a terrible at survivoring so I haven't got that much in quests done. I did the weekly (75) plus 2 level 1 milestones (2*10). I should have gotten 95 RF, but the gotten 105. So… it's 10 RF per match I think?

I have a sneaking suspicion that the rift is going to be A LOT harder for most people to complete now, which will feed into microtransactions/fomo.

I liked earning Rift Fragments from XP. I made sure to play XP and Fragment Frenzy events near the beginning of new Rifts.
This sucks if true. No new Tomes, the generic new challenge system, no Rift Fragments just from playing… I look at the game and feel bored. This is really… not interesting. If I wanted to play a generic mobile game I'd already be doing that.
I don't feel motivated to play at all. I just kind of want to say screw it to the Rift and call it here. They make changes no one asked for or wants, like this and the rarity color changes and all the changes they've made to the UI, and if that's what BHVR is going to put their effort into instead of making DbD better, I kind of want to dip out now and stop wasting my time on the game. It's not any one thing, it just all adds up.

Nah. You still get the RF at the same'ish rate. I just got 65 for two milestonea

I hope someone can tell if we still get Rift Fragment progress from just playing.
If you only gain it now through challenges this would be really really bad.

I got 135 in my first game and I'm concerned.
I can see how the challenges/milestones are going to progress (also, are the milestones just one and dones forever…ie do they come back next rift after completion?).

Best I can tell, in ye olde system you needed 10 ticks per rift point. Now each tick is effectively a separate point. So you still need a hundred ticks per rift pass level.
I just had a match without any challenges done and went from 60/100 to 65/100

Yeah, I also only get 5 rift fragments per game. So we just gotta play like 20 full games for a level? That's a lot compared to 10 previously.

I wish BHVR would confirm if rift fragments only being earned through quests is a bug or not.
The DBD Wiki says:
- Rework: completely reworked The Archives and all associated mechanics:
- Increased the amount of Rift Fragments received for 500 XP from 1 RF to 5 RF (factor of 5).
- However, since this Patch also increased the RF-requirement for a Rift Tier from 10 RF to 100 RF (factor of 10), this effectively halves the amount of Rift Fragments gained from playtime.
- Increased the amount of Rift Fragments received for 500 XP from 1 RF to 5 RF (factor of 5).
But the reality of 8.7.0 is that you get 0 from matches right now.

The reality is you definitely DO get fragments from XP.

You definitely do. I've had games where I complated 0 Quests, but got 5 Rift Fragments. However, considering you need 100 to level up, you need to play 20 games to gain a single rift tier.
Compare this with how you got 1 fragment per match last patch, and only needed 10. Passive fragments tiers have basically been doubled

Definitely not 5 per Match. I get 5 for every 4th or 5th match I'm playing.. Very inconsistent
