How is 2v8 survivor going for everyone?
Comments
-
Most of the issues are caused by dumb teammates not knowing how to play.
On survivor side, no one doing gens, people getting downed easily even tho there are 3 Escapists, people 3-genning themselves, ect.
On killer side, people are trying out Oni and Ghostface and failing miserably.

It's more like Legion and Oni v. 8, because that's what it has been like 80% of the time.
And it's really, really tedious. Even when you escape it's long, grindy slog. I've played 2v8 exclusively when active every time before this, but now I'm rethinking that.

You can’t be serious
13 -
They can however drastically change how feral frenzy works in 2v8 to make legion more tolerable
5 -
yes i am dead serious. Legion literally has only injuring in their tool and nothing more, i would rather play duo with Wraith who can force rotations and melt pallets.
Played 3 matches back to back with a friend who plays Legion for decent amount of time and you are literally playing 1v8. Even if Legion cleans up after you, they have no mobility like e.g. Wraith.
I was even saying before when it was a hypothetical duo that Legion lacks any form of lethality to be a decent duo for Oni, while Pague would actually be the perfect combo for him.
-15 -
Yeah, I think I’m done with 2v8. I don’t know how on earth BHVR could test this and conclude “yep, this is fine.” I escaped a few matches yesterday, but a vast majority were against Oni/Legion combos that were easy killer wins with at least 4 gens left. I remember one match seeing 5 players all slugged at the same time.
I would happily play killer, but of course everyone else would rather play killer too because of how unfun survivor is, so queue times have been ridiculous. I’d rather just play something else.

My experiences are not as bad as many people report here in this thread. Actually, the matches I played were pretty fun and I believe that I have escaped in more than half of the 10-15 matches I played so far. Certainly at a higher escape rate than in 1v4 solo queue. It would be very interesting if BHVR published some statistics with killer picks and escape rates for the 2v8 mode after the event is over.
I would say RPD is the only map which is quite difficult for survivors to play on. If the killers stay around the main hall most of the time, it can be difficult to move from one side of the map to the other, and this often leads to all gens on one side being completed but the remaing gens being easy to defend for the killers. In three games on RPD so far I have escaped one time (through an exit gate) and the two other games ended in all survivors killed. For all the outdoor maps I would say that on average half or more than half of the team escapes, and I had several matches with all 8 survivors escape.
Yes, you do get some unexperienced teammates in most of the matches, but so are often the killers when compared to 1v4 mode. So in my experince it's easier to have longer chases, especially due to the wide abundance of pallets in 2v8. It also feels like that killers in 2v8 tend to break chases earlier than in 1v4. Sometimes I've seen killers break chase even after a single pallet stun.
Tunneling, camping or slugging, which makes up a lot of the frustration for survivors in regular matches, are practically non-existent in 2v8. And without the self-unhook mechanics nobody can give up anymore during the first hook stage.
I usually play as the Guide role, and as someone has mentioned in a previous comment, it seems to be a good strategy at the start of the match to run across the map and start to repair a generator at the side where the killers have spawned. Then, usually the first cage will appear somewhere nearby and you can do a quick first unhook. In case you get found by a killer at the start, keep running into the empty parts of the map and try to lead the chase far away from your own spawn side, so that the killer won't pressure multiple survivors at the same time. With this, I've often seen two or three gens pop before the first down, because many teammates tend to double or triple the initial gens.
Frankly, 2v8 is much more chaotic and action-focused than the regular 1v4 mode. But in my opinion it is a fun variety and very welcome as a temporary game event. The only thing I am a bit disappointed about is the removal of the herbs, which I think were a good game mechanic in the last 2v8 iteration. And I'll have to see if the Oni & Legion combination, which are probably the most popular killer picks at the moment, might get a bit boring to face after a while.
Lastly, I want to mention that I appreciate that the devs added the new hook animations which look pretty neat :-)

"He can injure people! So OP!"
-18 -
I did warn people about this. You cannot have Oni and Legion together. And since we already had Legion, Oni shouldn't have been introduced. And besides that, Oni is the most snowbally killer in the entire game. I could easily see him taking out most if not the whole survivor team in 1 use of his power.
1 -
Not a fan, played maybe 6 matches? before going back to regular mode. Oni in 2v8 was probably the worst killer in 2v8 imo, his 180 flicks are stupid annoying.
12 -
Somehow managed to be even more garbage than ever, didn't think it was possible. 24/7 never ending overbuffed Oni one shotting and slugging constantly while the other killer just pressures and cleans up, or is legion and does that while supplying Oni his power endlessly. Oni DID NOT need to be buffed for this, can you actually test your game.
Games are just boring snowballs of people going down in 5 second chases vs insta down killers. Even with a 300% bonus im getting less points than my regular killer games as a survivor because i don't get the chance to really do anything, whats the point even playing this garbage?
Do us all a favour and dont run this trash, queue destroying event during a rift so we can actually play what we want.
I'll once again be taking a break from the game until the garbage tier event is over as killer queues arent even worth it for either mode and 1v4 is a SWF sweat fest. That BP bonus needs to go waaaay higher to waste my time in 2v8.
15 -
Well, BHVR could,” remove Legion from future 2v8 events, but of course the people that like to play him in 2v8 would be upset. I guess upsetting a few Legion 2v8 players is more of a concern to BHVR than alienating the much, much larger group of 2v8 survivor players that have to deal with this misery.
Honestly, Legion is not bad to play against in 2v8 if 1) he can’t be paired with Oni, which is clearly a busted combo, and 2) people know that the best way to counter him is stay injured and stay on gens. #2 is tough because there are so many brand new and inexperienced players in 2v8. Legion has always been a noob-stomper because new players don’t know how to counter, and that’s especially the case in 2v8 mode.
4 -
The maps being too large is true but it's really weird to see it as a problem for Survivor side, usually that's a complaint for Killer side!
1 -
literally every other killer in 2v8 can consistently keep survivors injured while every single of those killers has more in their kit to actually be helpful, unlike Legion that literally just...injures them.
Your logic basically applies pub 1v4 mindset of "don't heal against Legion" in 2v8 and is based on how in pubs those killers contradict each other in those terms.
I really want you to list me advantages of Legion with Oni in 2v8 over Wraith with Oni for example.
-19 -
Don’t bother. This person clearly doesn’t understand how Legion is different from other killers when it comes to ability to injure multiple survivors quickly. No explanations are going to help.
-7 -
Actually, yes they can. Any 2 medics can rez a whole team.
-14 -
I've actually had some pretty good teammates - last game alone had an MVP Lara and a Steve who bodyguarded me, and I only opened the gate because he ran out and looped the approaching killer before they noticed me. I mean, of course there's at least a few useless people in every game too, but I've yet to have one of those Oops All Potatoes games yet. Yet.
Oni + Legion is awful though. I actually haven't minded facing Oni with another killer, but the Legion combo just does not make me want to play this mode whatsoever.
The smoke bombs don't really seem to have any impact whatsoever.
4 -
I did only the requirements for the awards and wont look at it again as it seem they just gonna keep adding obnoxious killers as if spirit and mend simulator was not bad enough.
What is next ghoul and Hound master? As per every 2 v 8 only collect the stuff and go back to regular mode. Double tapping is boring too as usual. Sorry I love my perks and I hate chaos.

Just sat through the absolute worst experience I've ever had in this game where an Oni and Blight kept slugging in 2v8. So they still got the Generator slow down with no hooks required.. Great mode… A lot of the design decisions that go into stuff like this really boggle my mind. How the hell is that supposed to be fun?
4 -
Standard mix of survivors not doing gens because they're looting every chest on the map to try and get smoke bombs or doing totems for no reason, Onis in their power 90% of the game, Legion mending simulator, and getting left to die in a cage in the endgame while the entire rest of the team is full health and teabagging in the exit gates. So, awful as usual.

I feel like most people have settled on whether or not they like 2 V 8 by now and I'm kinda on the not so much side of the camp. Not that there's anything fundamentally different or worse about it this time around, it's pretty much the same as it ever was. That's sort of the problem for me. The Survivor side of the mode has barely changed in serveral iterations now. I like using the void crystal whenever I can find them, but that's all there is that's new (the fact that they also took away the herbs from the last version adds to the stale vibe imho).
That said, I think it's still enormously popular with most of the player base. It took an age to queue up for the one Killer game I played in the regular mode (usually I would get into a Killer game instantly at this time of night).
I glad it's here for the people that like it, but I think I'll just play enough to complete the quests and then do something else for the next 2 weeks. There's only so much Ghost Face I can take. The dude is my Legion / Skull Merchant.
1 -
I chuckled out loud when I read this because it describes by experience spot-on 😂
2 -
Could have been fun, but it's still nothing more than killers who suck relying on double teaming to get any downs.
6 -
My 2V8 Teammates are almost always the best and very Altruistic.
The only bad Teammates I get are trolls, people who like to just ruin the match. For example, immidetley dropping shack pallet when we load in and spam vault it or bodyblockers. I get one about every 8 matches.
Overall though, I get smart players who make good decisions, loop very well and are Altruistic.
I'm actually having fun as Survivor (I always do in 2v8) because I'm not playing SoloQ anymore until this new Go Next prevention is implemented.
I played one Regular game today as Freddy. I literally had a Leon begin slamming every pallet he came across as soon as the match started and a Kate give up on 1st hook.
Anyway, I hope you have better luck next week if you're doing the challenges.
0 -
You must have the best luck in the entire player base.
Sure I get some team mates who clearly know what they're doing but I also get a disturbing number who are clueless and have absolutely zero self awareness. Running killers to gens and unhooks, along with going down are standard fare of course. Making chests a priority even when the last gen is almost completed next to them is common, along with clearly not being capable of looking behind them to see I have popped up in a cage directly where they just ran past or decide to do a painfully slow self care next to me.
Oh and the there are Legion and Oni… a combination that make this a miserable slog I wish would just end so regular queues go back to normal.
Don't get me wrong, when I have matches that aren't Legion and Oni, I can still have fun with clueless team mates either way. But with Legion and Oni on top of this… man, I feel like BHVR ruined their own free W with 2v8
5 -
I've been playing since 4pm est yesterday and I'm still going. I've only had one Oni with a spirit. They got a lot of hooks, but all 8 of us escaped.
I have escaped nearly every match. I have never had so much luck as Survivor in my 6,000 hours.
I'm Sorry you are having those teammates.
How are your standard 1v4 Survivor matches going? That's where I have the worst luck. It actually ruins my Killer experience too when people throw the game.
-2 -
Honestly my standard matches were pretty good, I got a Huntress twice (both abusing Were-Elk) and a Trapper and escaped all of them. However matchmaking was quite slow and it was the same 3 other survivors every time lol. They were all solid players though so that always helps of course!
I am back on 2v8 simply because nobody is playing regular matches.
1 -
I didn't know Were-elk was bugged until I researched it just a little bit ago.
I use Monitor and Abuse on Huntress no matter what skin I use lol 😆
I'll be sure not to use were-elk. With me using that perk I'm sure the survivors would think I was doing it on purpose💀💀💀
I wonder if they can Kill switch the cosmetic without kill switching Huntress.
1 -
They definitely can kill switch cosmetics, they did it with that survivor Christmas one (I forget the one it was now).
Thanks for being ethical and I will say not every Huntress is taking advantage of this but a lot are. Survivors do the same with perks/cosmetics/addons etc that get bugged and give advantage, so I don't mean this is a killer vs survivor mentality thing.
Just some people will shamelessly exploit anything they can, which is pretty sad.
2 -
If I know something is bugged, I avoid it.
Oh yeah, I think you're talking about the Christmas sweater for the Dungeons and Dragons Survivor. I think it made the Survivor silent and they did kill switch it.

Same as normal queue. If I play Solo Surv, abysmal teammates that go down without even a chase tbh, every second someone is going down and we can't really get past 5 gens. No one is doing gens, no one is even rescuing hooks or even healing; they're all running around like roaches afraid of the light (heartbeat). Oh and when they actually do touch a gen, they fail the skill checks, like it's worse than bots.
Then I play Killer and no matter what, it's full stacks of SWF's that are taking hits, utilizing and repairing every single pallet after it's broken, and slamming gens.
Also, there's a ton of cheating going on rn as well. As Killer I watch Survs jetpack away without any indication of the team skill. Hell I had one match as Legion where even in frenzy the Survs were somehow outrunning me for 15 seconds and I played a few rounds of Oni, forget about it, I was getting literally outrun by Survs lol Then I notice some Killers cheat as well, perfect mode to play with aura hacks as the mode almost constantly gives aura reading.
-4 -
I don’t blame people at all for exploiting the Were-Elk bug. I blame BHVR for refusing to kill switch broken things and not fixing bugs in a timely manner.
1 -
My duo and I have been having a blast! We played 8 games last night only lost 1.
It’s been a breeze. Gens are so fast and easy to do. Legion sucks though. Tired of seeing him. Hate that killer.
-3 -
I dunno about that, I personally will always take the ethical choice and not use these broken things to gain an unfair advantage over others. You know what? I take that so seriously I literally never used the very first version of Decisive because I felt it was broken and completely unfair to killers so I was not going to use it.
Not saying that like I am a living saint, just some of us wont take things like pity kills etc as we would rather earn things honourably.
4 -
It’s terrible. Killers playing Oni and Legion while Survivors had content removed (herbs).
It’s bizarre that the solution to nobody wanting to play 2v8 Survivor is to allow people to play it during Killer queue instead of making the role fun to play.
12 -
Overall though, I get smart players who make good decisions, loop very well and are Altruistic.
I'm glad you're getting good matches. I get sandbaggers, people who save in the killer's face or who save and then refuse to heal, lots of teammates who won't touch gens. It's like 1v4 but with more.
Anyway, I hope you have better luck next week if you're doing the challenges.
Thank you :)

Altruism is the whole problem with the survivor side with 2v8! You have 4 survivors running 600 miles across the map to unhook and heal the same survivor! You know the average number of people on a gen after the first minute of the game? It's 1, maybe 2 at the most! Don't immediately jump off a gen the second another survivor is hooked on the complete opposite side of the map!
1 -
Bored of Legion and that BHVR don't listen to any feedback regarding them.
9 -
this is what makes it boring. Oni with another killer isn’t bad. Yesterday I had an Oni take all three of us in one hit. It was pretty cool but a bit to much unbalanced.
1 -
This. Legion is a problem. Basically running around getting free hits. The frezy needs to be toned down for 2 v 8.
4 -
I doubt they will rework him for a gamemode what can they genuinely do to make him better
-1 -
Played killer once, waited 15+ minutes to get into a match, and had 2 hacking survivors ruining the match. Really liked 2v8 before, but not wasting my time with that.
0 -
Been playing some matches on both sides with @HeroLives
We have not had too many bad experiences. Of course, the occasional sandbagger, but we have been having a pretty good escape rate, not gonna lie.We have encountered several Oni + Legions, but most of them has not been that bad to play against.
Scout class pretty much hard-counters Oni in loops, thanks to the aura read.1 -
just like the last versions there’s no reason to play survivor and the killer queues are 30 minutes
5 -
I am so fed up with Oni and Legion, I have already said this but they completely ruin this mode and suck the fun out of it.
Mending half a dozen times every match is beyond tedious and frustrating, Oni being in his power constantly is just unfair and frustrating.
No wonder people want to play killer instead so killer queues are insanely longer than ever
12 -
Feral frenzy no longer injures but applies some sort of debuff. I am well aware that this is going to make legion a lot weaker but it's imo the only way to make him not ruin 2v8.
2 -
Everyone and their mother play legion=mending simulator
11 -
It doesnt feel worth it so far, especially with anniversary around the corner it feels like the prestiges u get from this are kind of a waste without getting anniversary cakes for them. And every 2v8 since the last one has been Legion+1v8.
7 -
In the first day it was extremely killer sided, but nowadays it's 100% survivor sided as majority of games are so much escapes
I suppose having proper survivors in matches was all it needed to tilt the game toward them
-9 -
Yeah it totally ruins it.
