Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Re-Mapping the Realms: Haddonfield

Ah, Lampkin Lane, oh GOD Lampkin Lane! This map, infamously, has never been balanced. It's always been tipped one way or the other. For most of its life, it was the most Survivor-sided map in the game but right now, it's one of the most Killer-sided ones.

Lampkin Lane

Fixing up Lampkin Lane is not an easy task, but, well, someone has to do it. Let's start simple: the edges of the Trial are now the tall, white fences seen pre-rework. Those massive behemoths of wood stand tall over the Trial, trapping you into this little suburban nightmare. At the top of the map stands the Myers House, in all its glory. Only a single Generator can spawn on the structure, and there's nothing next to it except for those tall fences. Across the wide street full of several police cars lies six, intricate households. Inside the home itself, the corpse of Annie Brackett is laid out on the bed in the master bedroom, throat slit, with Judith's Tombstone resting on the headboard.

Across the street from the Myers home is 3250 Orange Grove Avenue, the Wallace House. The corpses of Bob, Lynda, and the poor dog Lester are within. Bob is pinned to the wall with a knife, as he was left in the first movie, while Lester was left outside with a snapped neck. Lynda was shoved into a dumbwaiter with a garroted neck from a telephone cord.

The house directly under the Wallace House is the Doyle House, where Halloween ended the first time around, where The Shape was shot six times. There are no bodies within, but there certainly are signs of destruction and a bloody coat hanger on the second floor.

There is, however, a strange house among the six. One of them shares the exact layout of Killer Shack, complete with a possible Basement spawn, as it occupies the spot of one of the nameless homes. It seems like it would be a shed, but no, it looks like a normal house in a normal suburb.

The remaining 3 homes are single-story houses with a basement accessible from within and the outside. These hold loops and Generators, with easy escapes if things get hairy down there, while the ground floor can also hold a Generator as well as several loops and windows.

All of the homes are separated by fencing, some destroyed, others not, with several porches and decks and swimming pools strewn about, leaving ways for loops, hiding, and sneaking around should you be the one to make Halloween a night to remember.

Now for non-details. I did a lot of ripping the map up and putting it back together. Yes, Myers House will always have a Gen, but the street will also always have at least 1 Generator, and if two spawn, they'll be at complete opposite ends. The Street is also more populated with cars, so you can actually cross while hidden, but do be careful, because the street is low in Pallets, but is home to some Windows.

The Houses will not have disgustingly good windows, in favor of stronger Pallets and loops using the expanded basements and first floors. Also yes, the Parks are gone as well as the outer rim of the map being reduced and condensed. The Pallets and Windows on the map are in the map, not on the exterior or one Pallet in the middle of a complete deadzone that, once it gets used, good luck. Next loop is thirty miles thataway.

End

Yes, ultra quick! One map! Anyway, what I was going for is more of a suburban town. Anytown, USA, if I may. The houses in a suburb are packed together like sardines. Not even a stone toss away, some buildings, you could climb up to the roof and jump down to your neighbor's house. That's what I was going for. Removing the needless empty space that exists on the map and replacing it with an indoor-outdoor hybrid that captures the feeling of running from an escaped mental patient through several backyards on Halloween night.

This map has always been terrible. Use Old Haddonfield as a 2v8 map and don't spawn in 1v4.

This map is one of the reasons I hate playing survivor. This map is an instant lose for survivors/instant win for killers and a waste of time playing there. It sucks. I really hope this map gets deleted! At the very least they should return this map to its old size, so it is a little less frustrating. It got way too overnerfed.
