In preparation for the influx of new players coming:
We all know Five Night At Freddy's is gonna bring in an insane amount of new players, hence all these changes.
What you really need to do in preparation for these players coming is REMOVE end game chat and give anonymous mode to everyone. I don't know why you leave Xbox out I took a 4 month break from dbd, I came back and had just one match and I was met with abuse right away and turned the game back off
You know you have a hostile community, this will be the reason so many of these new players won't stick around and it's why you need put some focus on this, too

I somewhat agree but realistically BHVR just needs to start permanently banning people who ruin this games vibe for people. They are far too soft on people who just have a terrible attitude.
Anonymous mode should be on by default because as I've said in the past this community no matter how much BHVR signal boost good creators has a lot of terrible people in it who will harass you outside of the game.
I am not a sensitive person but I keep anon mode on just due to the fact that I've gotten death threats prior or people going to my profile to harass me or my friends. Absolute bullshit I can't do anything against these people because they purposely will tread the line to avoid punishment.

While I don't think end-game chat is going anywhere, I do think people in this community need to chill TF out. The abuse and harassment of new players or even people who make simple and honest mistakes and misplays during stressful play needs to stop, period.
Yes, it is valid to be angry and upset when something goes wrong or you make a mistake. Just remember to relax and breathe, you and the others on your team are only human, mistakes are going to happen. If you find yourself getting so upset that you're going to grief your team by throwing yourself at the killer or offing yourself while on hook, or take it out on your team in post-game. Please, instead of queueing up for another match, step away and take a breather. Go to the bathroom, splash some water on your face, and get a glass of water or tea. Just anything ot relax and reset your mind. It'll be healthier for not only you, but for the game itself.

The best thing to do would be to add an option to permanently disable endgame chat.

Couldn't agree with this anymore without shouting it from the top of a building, myself.
Unfortunately though, not everyone shares this sentiment

They have an option to turn off endgame chat. It's what I do. They can be toxic all they want, I just won't be there to read it. But I think console players should have the option to have anon mode. My friend gets so many toxic messages on his xbox, it's insane.

There is a button that lets you close it and it won't open until you click on it again.

Yeah, I'm aware it's not a sentiment shared by everyone. But it needs to be said, and quite often repeated.

New players that are just going to leave and it's not because of the optional chat that can be turned off, it's because the game balance is dogshit. They also definitely clog up player numbers with bots to inflate it, I see the same accounts every time that I play, hell I'm getting matched in 2v8 with the same Killer teammate half the time.

I agree. Get rid of it. Or disable it by default. Too many people that play this game are overly emotional and have very fragile egos.

I fully agree that BHVR doesn’t take chat harassment seriously enough. I really don’t care what people say to me, but people shouldn’t be allowed to say the most vile things consequence-free. I’ve reported racial slurs, harm wished up me or my family, etc, and nothing ever happens to the offenders as far as I know. New players are going to discover a very toxic and unwelcoming environment because BHVR won’t take action to ban people who are saying vile things to others.

Xbox players cannot use their Anonymous Mode because the way it was they implemented it violated several Microsoft guidelines. Something about not being allowed to prevent clicking on profiles and seeing Gamertags I believe.
When they first rolled out Anonymous Mode to the consoles Xbox did have it for like two weeks, then it was removed and they stated it won't be back.

Well if this if the case then anon mode should just be a default thing

Sorry I fast replied to that,
What I mean to say is, if that's the case, they should just have anon mode inside their own game be its own thing

I fricking love end game chat, though

The end game chat in DBD reminds me of reality tv, which I would erase from all timelines if I could..
2 -
It doesn't seem to work all the time though.
Sometimes after restarting my game chat is open and visible again, even though I know I didn't open it before closing the game.

Will be interesting to see if there are really coming that many new players to the game.
Everybody says it but that doesn´t mean it will be the case.
I guess there will be a spike and then it falls off to normal regions.
There hasn´t been anything done to the horrible grind new players have to go through.

I would agree. They need to crack down a little more.

I agree, but for Xbox players must always be able to see who they last played with, through a game or not. Kinda defeats the purpose of Anonymous Mode.

You sound like this is unique to DBD, trash talk in chat can literally happen in any game. If new players don't stick around it definitely is not because of chat, but probably other aspects of the game like balance, bugs, player progression etc. Now if chat was turned off by default and you had to manually activate it to join then sure, but it should be accessible to all regardless of platform, because let's be real you can also vibe and be chill in chat with just as many people that are toxic.

At the best of times the end game chat is used by 2 people talking about something they like in common. But these days even saying gg is enough to set people off, like a killer tunneling people out of the game then saying gg after, its allot more likely to cause arguements then have someone agree and say gg in return.
At the worst of times you have people that use the end game chat to cause arguements deliberately with things as simple as "ggez" etc after slugging everyone or a bully squad taking advantage of thr killer player etc. There is almost no possitive reason left to keep the end game chat.

Except a lot of it is exclusive to dbd
Dbd is the only gaming community I've ever seen where there's been stalking, genuine death threats, and worse.
I've had my own experience where people tracked me down, and I've never had this in any other community

Why does everyone assume that loads of new players will turn up for the FNAF release?
Last time I checked, most FNAF fans don't actually play the games. They just watch gameplay on YT lmao.

as someone who played league of legends for 13 years and at times where they had absolutely 0 moderation: some ppl just have a thicker skin.
and yeah im claiming it just like that. the amount of times ppl told me to kms or get cancer, i cant even count anymore. but i just laugh at it. their rage is funny to me.
if you cant stomach that then yes either turn off chat, or turn off the game. its that simple.
