Ultimate Totem rework

GENERAL CHANGES
At the beginning of the game the killer sees all dull totems auras and all 5 are dull . The killer then chooses which totem to light by walking up to it and interacting with it. In turn the totem becomes lit (hella lit) and the hex perk is activated.
If the killer has multiple hex perks the one he chose first is the one that the first totem he lights gets infused with.
If the totem is destroyed and the killer doesnt have thrill of the hunt, the perk is lost for good.

Hex: THRILL OF THE HUNT
If the killer does have thrill of the hunt however and the totem lit totem gets destroyed the totems light returns back to the killer and he can then place the perk on another dull totem whose auras he is able to see again. Also when a lit totem is destroyed and the survivor can visibly see the light of the totem return to the killer. This tells them 2 things: 1 where the killer is and 2 that the killer has hex thrill of the hunt and they need to find every totem they can or the killer will reignite another totem. Also as long as you have not replaced you hex totem the hex perk will remain inactive of course. If you had 3 token devour hope and it gets destroyed you´ll have to relight a totem in order to one shot again.
In turn Thrill of the Hunt will no longer slow down the destruction of totems or give a notification when they are worked on but it is also a hex perk no longer.

Hex: THE THIRD SEAL AND HUNTRESS LULLABY
In my opinion neither of these 2 perks are strong enough to be tied to a totem. The easy change would be ofc to simply make them not hex perks but I dont do easy. So? Make them a hex light perk. What does this mean? Hex light perks are also tied to totems but different from your normal ones.

Hex light Perks
Hex light perks work different from their normal counterparts in the following way: one hex light perk is tied to all the totems on the map meaning that if you truly want to take a hex light perk out of the game you´ll have to destroy all the totems on the map.
Not a difficult challenge for some you might say but defenetely a challenge you will think about twice of taking on. Since it takes a lot of time and is rather bothersome. Now if a hex light perk is in game that doesnt mean all totems will be lit, quite the contrary, if the killer is running only the third seal, none of the totems would be lit.
The beauty of this mechanic is that it doesnt conflict with anything else. Hex TOTH wouldnt affect hex light perks since if a hex light perk is gone there is no way of bringing it back since all totems are destroyed.
The point about this mechanical change is that it only affects perks that are not detremental to survivors, good survivors or swf groups will not be bothered by them at all or it will pose a minor challenge at worst. But getting them out of the game will take some time. So as a survivor you either take it or you invest 3-5 minutes into finding every last totem on the map, your choice.

Example:
I choose Hex The third seal, Hex Ruin, Hex devour Hope, thrill of the hunt as my perks.
I load into the game and see all 5 dull totems. I choose which totems are in the best spots.
I walk up to a totem and press enter, that totem now becomes lit with ruin tied to it.
I do the same thing again and now devour hope is tied to the other totem.
thrill of the hunt is not tied to a totem at all since its more of a support perk and doesn´t do much to warrant it being a hex perk.
My ruin gets destroyed. The light of the totem then comes visibly back to me so that survivors can see where the light goes.
I then get to see the remaining dull totems auras and can once again choose which totem i want to infuse with ruin.
All the while hex the third seal is doing its work and blinding survivors making for a much more pure experience.
Only when all the totems are destroyed hex the third seal goes away and also the killer will not be able to relight any totems and will be perkless.

These ^ are the ideas I would put in the ptb to test if I were a dev

In what way does this buff hex totems?
For one the killer now knows which Hex is tied to which totem and therefore now knows which totem is more valuable to him.
If he is running hex TOTH then the risk of having to give up your totems immediatly is almost non existent but at the price of one of your perk slots.

Tell me what you think about this idea.

The following ideas would be light nerfs to the totem system if the changes are too strong.

Possible balance ideas:

  • Each time a lit totem gets destroyed and the perk gets send back to the killer with TOTH, the hex perk gets a light nerf.

    1. In case of ruin that would be that if the perk gets destroyed once and placed down on another totem ruin now
only affects 3 people. It gets destroyed and placed down again it only affects 2 people and so on.
    2. In case of devour hope each time the totem gets destroyed and placed down again, the perk removes 1-2 tokens
up to a minimum of 0. Lets say you have devour hope with 5 tokens and the totem gets destroyed and you place it down
again, now you only have 3 tokens meaning you can still one shot but not mori. You can ofc regain your 2 totems by simply
hooking and letting survivors get unhooked 2 more time.
    3. In case of NOED I wouldnt bother changing it since if you destroy the NOED totem the killer would have to go all the way to
another dull totem to light it and thats more than enought time to open the gates and escape.
    4. (Very very maybe) if the hex light perks become too much of a problem you could also change them to do the following:
after every totem destroyed after the first one (so basically if there are 4 totems left) the perk loses its power over one of the
survivors. You destroyed 2 totems, now the perk only affects 3 survivors, you destoy 3 totems now the perk only affects 2
      survivors and so on
  • Possible buffs to hex thrill of the hunt:
hex thrill of the hunt serves only one purpose, to keep your totems in the game for longer, along with the proposed changes
toth could also add a sixth totem

There is so much to read and I didn't read it all but can a killer hold the hex only to use it mid game or late game. I'd imagine there would have to be a lot and I mean a lot of work a thought into a mechanic like this, but I still think it's a great idea.

well the hex wouldnt be active until he places it and he wouldnt be able to get tokens for any of them. And survivors tend to destroy dull totems regardless of use so I dont think it would be too strong.
    Thanks for the feedback though
