What's the point of the perk Visionary?
I don't get it, it's not really for new players because it's locked behind either Shrine of Secrets or a DLC character that you need to grind for, it doesn't really provide anything for experienced players and it gets destroyed by a general free Perk:
Visionary: 32 meter range (would generally reveal 3 gens anyways)
Deja Vu: Infinite range for 3 generators
Visionary: Has a cooldown anytime you complete a generator for some reason (I assume so you don't just go to the next generator right away??? otherwise I don't see a reason)
Deja Vu: No cooldown and even provides a bonus for repairing highlighted generators
Visionary: Available through a DLC character or through SOS
Deja Vu: General Perk always available to everyone
What's the point, really a dead Perk, please rework it.

- the only good use of "visionary" is in indoor maps, it can actually be useful. But you're right, deja-vu is better in every way. Rework: when a generator is completed, its aura is highlighted for you in white... near those generators (8 meters?) you have 2% haste. the effect persists for 3 seconds after you move away. sort of "batteries included" but for survivors

When characters are released, they come with 3 perks. One is usually designed to be weak and niche and expected to be paired with something else to be useful, one is usually kind of memey or for silly builds, and one is usually strong. Visionary is just in the weak department.

Not to mention that deja vu also has the main use of breaking a three gen by showing you gens that are closest together. Visionary should honestly just show all generators at any distance without deactivating (minus blindness). There is seriously nothing broken about using a perk slot for that information.

Nah that's not really a rule tbh, characters do not really need to come with weak Perks, Orela came with 2 really good perks and 1 kinda meh-synergy perk, Taurie came with 1 great perk, one decent perk and one awful perk, and so on.
Visionary just needs a rework to be honest, it was always bad, and there really isn't anything about the Perk that should be kept, the effect of it already exists in a better Perk haha

I didn't say it, a BHVR dev did, lol. He didn't use the word memey, but the intent was definitely there.
For example, Alan Wake. Champion of light was the strongest one, deadline was the niche one to pair with others, and the boon to see other objects was the memey one.

Yeah, they really got to do it justice. I would love to see at the bare minimum the deactivation condition being removed entirely, and being able to rummage for a map when using visionary. (Since there is no map rummage perk and they are a difficult item to acquire for new players who would benefit the most from them). But there's really so much more they could do with it. I'm surprised it hasn't been touched up yet.

Alright, to understand the point behind Visionary, you have to understand a bit of DbD history, namely how it relates to Deja Vu.
Although Deja Vu had been in the game pretty much since release, it didn't always have the effect it currently does. In fact, at release, it only showed you 2 generators for 8 seconds, starting from the load-in camera pan (so really leaving you with maybe 1-3 seconds for you to actively see where they were). It wasn't until patch 2.1.0 that Deja Vu got updated to show you the 3 gens that were closest together, and then only for the first 60 seconds of the match, and again whenever a gen got completed. If you were distracted by being in chase when a gen popped, good luck being able to use Deja Vu to know where any gens were, let alone the 3-gen. Consequently, few people ever used the perk.
Along comes the Descend Beyond chapter (I think this was 4.2.0) and the introduction of Felix and his perk Visionary. Unlike Deja Vu, which only gave you information at the start of the match and periodically throughout it, you now had constant info on gen placement that also didn't cost you an item slot the way a Map would. The trade off was it was only for gens within 32 meters, and you had to suffer the 16 second cooldown, likely to prevent you from tunneling the gens.
This was pretty much the state of things until the Midchapter patch 6.1.0 which came in to drastically shake up the meta. If you recall, this was the patch that had the first massive nerf to Dead Hard, Corrupt Intervention, Iron Will and many others. It also introduced the repair speed buff to Deja Vu, however the buff was only 5% and it still only showed you the 3gen for 60 seconds at the start of the match or when a gen popped.
It wasn't until patch 7.0.0 that Deja Vu was giga-buffed to always show you the 3 closest generators and even had the repair speed buff increased to 6% cementing it as the go-to free gen-jockey perk and leaving Visionary as a well-intentioned relic.Ultimately, Visionary was a good perk meant to address a real problem for its time. Unfortunately, it has become over-shadowed by Deja Vu, has fallen by the way side, and is in dire need of a rework.

Let's imagine you unlock and level Felix to P3. Congratulations, you now have discount Tier-3 Deja Vu automatically unlocked on all Survivors past, present, and future without ever putting a single Bloodpoint in them. And depending on how all of your other Survivors are leveled, maybe you won't get actual Deja Vu for a while… Yeah that's about all I can come up with.
And also basically this.
Seriously, BHVR, do something for Visionary. I'm pretty sure I remember the repair speed bonus was just supposed to be a temporary measure until a 3-gen prevention measure was implemented, but you've since gone back on that, and now this perk has ZERO purpose.

I like the idea, it encourages teammates to take the chase away from incomplete gens

Indeed, I've got similar complaints for Rookie Spirit too, and feel while Deja Vu is how it is, these perks have no purpose.
For Rookie Spirit, I liked the idea of repairing a regressing generator would stop regression after 1s instead of 5s. (I used to suggest 400% faster repair speed while a gen is regressing for the same effect and a small repair bonus... but sadly that breaks with Hex: Ruin). As such it's activation condition could be considered for removal.
For Visionary I've seen a number of cool suggestions. First and foremost it's cooldown needs to be removed, but after that I liked one of:
- Add gate auras as well. Would be a nice niche of helping you find gate handles earlier in the trial.
- Give a colour gradient based on the progress of the generator similar to Legion's add-on. (Overridden by yellow auras obviously, such as Blast Mine, Better Together, Trail of Torment, etc).
The second one could also be a consideration for Rookie Spirit as well.
This is a pretty cool suggestion, my only dislike of it is we're in an era of DBD where haste is the go to "make it viable" change for everything.
Personally I think we should be doing our best to avoid adding more haste effects in the game whenever possible, especially given that the haste stacking change has been scrapped.

It falls into that category of a perk you only ever use in Chaos Shuffle when you have no choice lol.
I think that is fine too, not every perk needs to be strong or meta, as there are far too many perks in the game as it is.

Oh for sure I agree! But I feel like having completely useless / powercreeped perks also isn't really that good to be honest, I wish Visionary did something interesting or unique to it 🙏

I see Rookie Spirit more as an intel perk, since it's map-wide. You can tell instantly when a generator starts regressing, which effectively updates you on the killer's location.

You cannot do Felix's adept without Vsionary xd.
Seriously deja vu is better than this perk in every way.

Aye that's a nice part of its niche, its like an Alert-lite in that regard... and that combined with helping finding key gens needing finishing is a unique set of traits that is quite good for a gen aura perk, it just needs that little bit more to find its footing over other perks…
I feel like being able to stop regression within 1s gives it a pretty nice set of abilities, none of which are particular oustanding on their own, but combined together makes a pretty solid utility perk.

Rookie Spirit could use some love, but under NO circumstance should it, or any perk reduce the time to stop a regressing generator. Otherwise, we go back to the gen-tap meta which was untenable and will not be missed.

These were my suggestions from a thread a made a while ago. Visionary needs something to spice it up and give it active gameplay elements. Passive aura read is great, but passive aura read on gens is 1. Rather underwhelming by itself and 2. never going to be that useful for moderately experienced players outside of niche circumstances.
- Remove the perks disabling when a generator is completed. At the end of the day, this is completely unnecessary and doesn't really have any reason to stay on the perk.
- My second suggestion is more interesting - make Visionary grant the ability to rummage a chest for a map similar to other perks such as scavenger and residual manifest.
- A third (optional) suggestion would be to add some secondary effect boosting the effect of maps since this might make the gen aura reveal a little redundant if you have a map whenever you need one. I could see something like survivors running visionary have any gens revealed by maps also revealed to their teammates, similar to the crystal bead addon. Or grant the ability to place a marker while charging a map to the perk Visionary, and free up the glass bead addon which has long been underutilized and in some games is not even recognized by newer players, but that might become more well known and utilized when a part of a perk like Visionary.

Eehhh, I agree with you gen tapping shouldn't come back at base, and definitely not in any form in the old way of literally just touching a gen... but given this version is 1s, not instant like the old version, is it something so valuable its worth a whole perma perk slot?
The only time it really gets its worth is if you want to stop a gen regressing before you go for the unhook, or the killer loses sight of you long enough for you you get that second in.
I mean you could make it 2s if you think its really busted... but I'm not convinced it is.

That would be the simplest way to buff it but not really the best way tbh, it still wouldn't do much, if anything at all compared to deja vu

Yea but wouldn't it be better to lock in and make it way better instead of slightly better than below average?

My idea would be to remove the cooldown and make it also reveal the auras of gens to your teammates.
1 -
How would it reveal gens to your teammates? Kinda like Streetwise so when they're close they pretty much get the Perk's effects for a while?
Not a bad idea, but maybe it still needs something extra!

The gens that are shown to you in a 32 meter radius are also shown to your teammates. Your teammates wouldn‘t need to be in a certain area around you.

My rework idea for Visionary was to turn into "Batteries Included" for survivors.
