Who's Ready for the Influx of Complaints About Shroud Offerings?
I know I am. I can't believe that Behavior is going to let an offering have such a huge impact on the game lol. I hope you fellow killer mains have been stocking up on shrouds of your own…
But here on the forums, it's going to be the next "hot button issue" that has everyone arguing. It's going to be epic.

Once upon a time, offerings let you instantly kill people the moment they went down, black out the map entirely, and play characters you didn't own.

I still have a few Splinters left. Remember the awful white screen for Borrowed Time?
8 -
The offering should only affect the survivor burning it, so three survivors would have to burn the offering to split up all four of them. One shroud separating all four survivors is awful. Especially if you're playing with a friend and the two of you want to start together.

I still have a few Splinters left
I'm so jealous 😭 I didn't pay attention to patches at that time and I used my last one :(
RIP Smoking Splinter on Wraith
And yeah that BT screen was so bad 💀

Best I can do for ya!
4 -
That's actually really cool.
4 -
what even is the actual point of making Shroud of Binding basekit if they were gonna add a new meta offering to basically make splitting gens as easy as it is atm?
-4 -
Yeah, that will become an issue soon.
Also, the less talked about thing, why did they make everything that's not a Luck or BP offering secret?
Now you can use a Hatch offering and escape for free.
3 -
Easier, actually. Because as it stands right now, you might start on all four gens, or you might start grouped up. Or you might start out two by two. Now, the meta offering guarantees a split gen. I'd rather spawn rules stay as-is than be forced to run a Green shroud every game or just… lose.
2 -
They made a lot of head scratching decisions during this QoL update. Sure, the bulk BP spending will be nice, but a lot of things in this patch are good on paper, but implemented in the worst way possible.
-1 -
since that's case, Sac wards meta bye bye, welcome new Shroud of Vanishing meta, screw cakes and BPS
-3 -
Pretty much. And Shroud of Vanishing is a green offering, too. So you're only going to get a handful of them every prestige.
-3 -
It's already started on twitter.

There was a good amount of feedback to this offering and how stupid it is. I really hope the developers will listen to it as well since it is way too strong and unhealthy for the game.
The offering should only separate the user but not every survivor.
-2 -
All what changest is survivors wont go on the map they choose 100% but will have just 20% chance and other survivors just put shroud and some bps or luck offerings thats all.

My concern is all 4 survivors spawning right next to the same generator, and the generator getting fully repaired before the killer gets there, because the killer guessed wrong when they are guessing which generator the survivors were at.
The spawn rules didn't say anything about spawning survivors away from generators, ore making sure that if survivors spawn near a generator, that it only has 1 or 2 sides that could be repaired.
-2 -
That's not as bad since if all 4 survivors are working on one gen, depending on the situation, it means there's no other gens that have been worked on and you could possibly snowball.
2 -
They're also changing killer spawn though, so it shouldn't be too difficult to find survivors early on.
3 -
Yea lets just 100% guarantee every killer runs Lethal Pursuer. Who's ready for the whole team spawning in a dead zone and being hit by Billy / Blight / Ken within 5 seconds??
5 -
You think that is bad, friend?
I lost my last Splinter because of a prestige. Didn't know they were going to be removed.
RIP my last Glass Splinter on Freddy…

It still can be a guessing game of where the 4 survivors are, and if a low mobility killer guesses wrong, the first generator might be fully repaired before the killer gets there. This is especially true if a SWF decides to all bring toolboxes, because they know they'll spawn together, and can get a "free generator" at the beginning of the game.
And it will actually be more difficult to find survivors early on, because they are starting in less places. Having the survivors spawn separately, makes it much easier for the killer to find a survivor early, because the killer has 4 separate chances to find a survivor.
Yes, placing the survivor together means they can't immediate repair 4 separate generators. But if it means the 1st generator might pop before the first chase, then that's not good either. It's also not good if it means all 4 survivors just hide until the killer patrols by, then bursts down the first generator while the killer continues a full loop of the generators.

I think your missing a key detail here... the spawn changes for killers and survivors causes them to spawn on opposite sides. If you spawn in the bottom left, the survivors are on the top right. This was the reason they changed killers spawning in the middle... to make it more obvious where the survivors spawned at.
4 -
Where was it said that the killer and survivors will always spawn in opposite corners?
0 -
Tell ya what... wait til Tuesday, run 10 custom matches against bots while using lethal and see how predictable the spawns are... then we can come back to this.
Sidenote though, even if all 4 survivors do what you claim and want to jump on 1 gen to crank it out... that would only work for a 4 man gen. Most gens in this game can't be worked on by 4 ppl.
10 -
Yes, and the worst case scenarios should be looked at. There should be some rule, that the closest generator the survivors spawn to, will always be a 1-person or 2-person generator, to remove the scenario where all 4 survivors spawn next to a 4-person generator.
-3 -
The new spawn logic is a MASSIVE survivor nerf in the same game that absolutely doesn't need any more survivor nerfs. It would have been insane if they didn't change the shroud offering to work this way since not every single match should be a guaranteed 4k.
-2 -
Realistically though... even if 4 ppl teamed up to slam out a gen with BNPs... the best gen to do that on would be the last gen, not the first generator they see in the corner of the map.
7 -
You don't get an escape for free since the majority of the killers slug for a 4k which now has absolutely mo counterplay cause of the update to the AFK crows
0 -
With the implementation from the PTB, you have 2 minutes before getting crows if you aren't standing still, during which you only need to touch a gen, a totem or anything really to reset the timer.
You can walk around the map for 2 minutes, go on a far gen for a few seconds, and then walk around again, getting to the shack/main when the other person dies. And then escape as soon as hatch appears.
-2 -
The 'if' is pretty critical to the discussion.
Survivors grouping up early is almost always bad for them. What if its not a slow killer? What if the killer had lethal? What if the gen was hard to protect in the first place?
When evaluating the strength of a 'what if' strategy you also have to evaluate the 'what if not' because the people committing to such a strategy have to deal with both.
I'd much rather as killer deal with one gen being done and all the survivors grouped up than in a chase while the other 3 are spread out working on gens.
5 -
Can we use that logic for survivors too? If someone complains that something is unfair for solo q, can we say "what if you were in a SWF"?
1 -
You can if you want, though they are radically different things, but I'll give you a survivor example at the end.
DbD is built around the idea that certain perks, strategies, etc. are situational. Healing builds can be really strong, but survivors have no idea if they are going to hit a Plague or tunneling killer who make it impossible to actually heal. To discuss the strength of the design and whether its unbalanced you have to consider all the possibilities and their likelihoods.
The survivor example is saying that aura builds are too strong presuming that killers will never hit a survivor running perks to counter aura read.

Noooo 😭 I'm so sorry
2 -
Well, at least killers have found something to doompost on again. So business as usual.
1 -
Splinters could be made into a charm at this point.
2 -
what exactly is doomposting here? Separate spawning is literally an open road to easy early splitting which is the strongest survivor tactic to use, with the new Shroud of Separation offering you will now literally have 100% chance for the whole team to spawn separately, while killer can only bring Shroud of Vanishing if they want to prevent you from using the offering.
I swear to god so many ppl here don't realize how drastically separate spawning affects match and how unfair it is when you have brutally easy and quick early gen splitting.
3 -
Of course they don't. They don't play killer and don't know what it's like to have three gens pop in the first 90 seconds of the match.
2 -
AWFUL??
NAHNAHNAH NO ONE TALKIN SMACK ABOUT THE REAL BORROWED TIME NUH UH
2 -
😂🤣

What are you talking about? They know how to apply pressure properly!

Some Content Creators have early access to the FNAF chapter and it seems like this is the final version for tomorrow (also has some other changes like add-on changes for Springtrap or perk tweaks), the developers really didn't nerfed the Shroud of Separation. This is really disappointing that they ignored our feedback. After nine years, is it really so difficult to make offerings less overpowered and decide how easy a match can be? Is it really too much to ask for :/
