Serious uptick in tunnelling
Since the fnaf release, has anyone else noticed that a significant amount of killer players have been hard tunnelling at 5 gens? I don't really see any reason why this may be but it's certainly been a lot worse than I've seen it in a long time. Might just be me though.

Happens every time there's a new killer. People are still learning how to use its power but also want to win, so they fall back on that. It always settles down over time as people learn how to play or simply go back to a killer they're more comfortable with.

But the thing is, it's not just Springtraps. I've seen Ghouls, Singularities, Dredges, all tunnelling as hard as they can the second the match starts, it's really weird.

By what I been reading pn twitter, the reason why killer been doing alot of tunneling is because is possible for a surivvor to get a DC penalty if they die earlier or something like that. I got tunneled at 5 gens so I din't get the warning so…not sure ######### is going on.

Could be newer players trying out other killers, or as HPhoenix said, they're trying to give survivors a penalty (wouldn't put it past this community, honestly)

for spring trap, it ma be like when nemi was added, new players who need the training wheels and hard tunnel.

Probably trying to give people penalties now that word has gotten out.

You guys seem to really think that because someone queued up for the "killer" role that you just assume the worst of them. People are intentionally doing this to cause people to get penalties? That is some serial killer level mindset right there.

They didn't say it was simply because it's a killer player. Survivors have done their fair share of griefing whenever something like this happens.

People bleed out for fun.
People hunt down POC Survivors for fun.
People tunnel to ruin people's days.
It is absolutely possible that some of the worst elements in the community are using this as an excuse.

I also think that people being able to show their KR stats is also contributing to it. Some creators like to put a lot of emphasis on those KR as if they show good you are. I think average hooks at different gens stages would be a better stats or win percentages. Either way this and the DC penalty which is absolutely absurd are my picks.

Oh my sweet summer child. Yes, because this community has shown countless times that it is not above being petty or doing something out of spite to the other side.

I usually don't tunnel but made an exception yesterday with a Kate who had windows, ds, head-on, sprint burst and a flashlight.
T-bag at every pallet.
I eventually got a 3k but I made sure she wasn't leaving alive.
Tunnelling is boring but sometimes it just has to be done with a toxic survivor.

It's the other way around.
It's not that everyone that plays killer, griefs…
It's that almost everyone looking to grief will play killer.
It's the power role that allows you to do that, after all.

Head On and Sprint Burst?

You're probably correct with this take. Not saying it's the only reason but I do believe it's a contributing factor. I was talking to a friend about this and we both agreed it was going to lead to an increase in sweaty gameplay for the sake of inflating your stats.

It could also be due to the new AFK-system. If Survivors don't glue their keesters to gens, they'll get crows, so they're forced to genrush harder than ever.

Played like 7 games on survivors and yet to see killer fully tunnel… which is suprising for sure, maybe was just lucky

I am seeing a lot of D tier content creators starting to push more and more toxic play styles like hard tunnelling every match, because… reasons.
So I say hopefully they keep doing this, as it will force BHVR's hand just like the slugging and bleed out epidemic forced them to finally add an abandon option (at least in part).
I am an accelerationist, sometimes things have to get worse to get better.

if a tunnel in a game ruins your days then you should take a break from the game

There's a difference between tunneling to win and tunneling because you think its funny to see other people miserable.
Generally, the presense of a on-stream counter of "whining toxic survivors mains tunneled" is a good indicator.

This isn't in line with reality at all.
When you target one person they can no longer play the game normally, it leaves people with a feeling of being personally picked on, particularly newer players who are not at all equipped to deal with this and it certainly leaves them with a very negative feeling towards DBD. Often tunnellers do pick the weakest link too, which I feel is particularly cowardly.
Now if I got tunnelled by a Bubba, it would make my day but that isn't everyone's experience and for many people it completely ruins their experience and just leaves them feeling bad.
To deny this is not only unrealistic, it also shows a completely lack of empathy for other people and I am not at all okay with that in any game.

And it will only get worse with the anniversary event as usual. It's a good time to NOT play DBD.

what do you mean ever since the update? it's been like 1 day bro maybe you just had bad games lol give it time

The deletion of tunneling in July can't come soon enough. Even BHVR says killers artificially inflate their mmr by using these toxic strategies

- It's always like this, especially when new killers are released and during events... it's just to welcome new players or those who have taken a break from the game.🤣 I've also noticed an increase in proxy camping, clearly proxy camping has always been there and always will be... but now it's in pretty much every game.

I mean that I'd see people hard tunnelling maybe like once or twice a day. But it's been at least half my matches ever since the chapter release. If it was just Springtraps doing it, I'd get it, but it's happening regardless of the killer being played.
