Survivor Mains: What do you miss the most?
Is it a perk that was once better or worse or different? Was it a base game change to the survivor gameplay loop? Was it a buff, nerf or change to one of your favorite items/addons/offerings? Or is it something else?

Maps that weren't tiny empty dead zones with no fog with occasional pallets that are so weak they're only useful for dying under to hope your teammate can use for a save.

I agree, my friend.
Yes, I think the old maps are what I miss the most as survivor. Maps that had resources, a proper atmosphere and weren't filled with dead zones.

Survivor animations, mainly being able to spin on the ground.
I miss it mostly being the original music with only a couple of killers have their own music. I just like the original more than most of the killer specific chase/terror radius music but also there are certain terror radius music I just can't hear until they are on top of me. The terror radius heartbeat helped with this but it also showed me how many killers I just can't hear their terror radius.
I miss the feel of the maps before Realm Beyond. They just felt creepier because they seemed more dark and dirty. Now they are more bright and have a clean feel.

Exactly this. Map design is easily the worst part about the current direction of the game. (imo at least)

- Old "spine chill", I think the most massacred perk in DBD history🤣

One major thing is cosmetics. I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but the Survivor cosmetics are getting increasingly animated and whimsical. I have no idea what's going on with the two most recent tomes, but I genuinely can't use most of it because the hair looks like a cosplay wig and the outfits themselves are very street fashion.
Aside from that, I will never forget what they've done to some of my favorite perks that weren't causing any problems for the game—WGLF, Calm Spirit, Pharmacy, Wake Up, Blast Mine, etc.

- I agree, skins are becoming more and more bizarre and absurd, in fact (with exceptions) I see older skins being used more often than newer ones.
15 -
It's wild. Vittorio's event outfit is nice, but I had to default to an older head because the hair is way too big. David's deep rift top from the last tome is nice, but the rest? Yeesh.

Escaping.
For me it, it's not one singular event. It's the overall end result, and it's just getting worse.
• 6.1 is obvious. It was the beginning of the survivor downfall.
• Then map changes. They have gotten very small with no safe loops. Killers can hold a 3 gen by standing in the middle of the map.
• Tunneling and proxy camping have gone unchecked.
• Slugging is still an issue
• Survivors all start together opposite of the killer. Cool, it's not like half the roster doesn't have speed or a teleport ability.
• Hatch is practically useless with these mori changes.
• The 4% is dead
• Stealth is dead (for survivors)
• Constant perk nerfs, or buffs to perks that are trash and no one will still use.
• Not a change, but still problematic. Having to go into the match blind. Might my build be completely negated by the killer? Maybe. Yet, killers can change there loadout or DC before the match starts, because they don't like something they see. This is a dated mechanic and needs to go.
Survivors are being forced to play with only one playstyle. Genrush. Why? That's not a fun playstyle for killers either. And it will only be a matter of time until they nerf gen speeds, again.
Why not just replace the survivor role with bots. It's clear that they don't want the role to be enjoyable for anyone to play.

What i miss was when Survs didn't use Windows as a crutch perk and actually had to learn how tile spawning worked, it made them way better players and overall the solo queue experience was better because of it.
Now they are so reliant on this perk that when a killer run a blind perk/addon, they don't know what to do and just die incredibly fast, same thing when they don't understand the tiles near them and run into a deadzone like idiots.

This will probably be an odd one, but I actually miss how Survivors used to run in place for a brief second whenever the Killer DC'd. I actually have some clips of that, so I might make a compilation of that and put it on YouTube just for giggles. XD
15 -
Even genrushing feels worse than it did in the past. I'm ride or die with David, so I loved having a No Mither stealth/speed build. With stealth dead, I don't see the point of even doing gens anymore. Even if we're left with one objective, if it isn't fun we're not gonna do it.

I really miss original Iron Will.
15 -
I genuinely miss the player mindset the most.
Chase used to be important, and specifically pressuring survivors off gens. Not that tunneling didn't exist, but certainly not to the extent we see today.
Killers used to focus on being in chase as much as possible, to the point where people literally said "gens aren't worth kicking" because the 3s kick animation was a waste of time.
All of that changed with the gen kick and 3 gen metas and all we hear now is that "slowdown is all that matters".

I miss old Spine Chill so much. It was an absolute favorite of mine.
6 -
On a very consistent basis to I think about Bouquets, as much of a pain they were they were a fun offering to have
2 -
Not really survivor specific but maps used to have so much better atmosphere. Also the game used to feel alot more chill. You could afford to do goofy things without feeling like you were throwing the game. I also miss pre nerf distortion.
17 -
i think it was the new moon offerings? (one that made maps darker) + 4 stack fog on old swamp (when it was huge and extremely foggy) where you couldn't see anything

I know it ruins stealth killers, but I miss Spine Chill. We have SO many undetectable killer perks in the game now and literally the only way to counter them is to listen and look. People will literally tell you, "use your eyes". Come on man.
Survivors should have a good way to counter undetectable PERKS at the very least. Maybe not killer powers, like Ghostface stealth, because that would make Ghostface unfun to play. Or Wraith cloak and so on. But I should be able to bring a perk that helps against undetectable perks. You're devoting a perk slot to countering it, and it's not a guarantee the killer brings an undetectable perk for sure either. So, I don't see it being that broken.
Premonition is almost perfect for this, but it's still really random, has a long 30 second cooldown, and literally only does 1 thing which is make a small ding when you see the killer. I think Premonition should be buffed to be more of a modern perk. It still feels very DBD 2018. Would be nice to see it buffed as well since it's a general perk that anyone can use for free.
I hate that stealth perks on survivor generally are super unviable now, and even detrimental. They've nerfed Distortion into the ground. Don't get me wrong, Distortion needed a nerf, but it was OVERnerfed. Especially now with the new AFK crows being more frequent and aggressive. I think stealth should be a viable playstyle in DBD as long as you're actually DOING stuff. Gens, helping teammates with unhooks and healing. Ect. I'm glad they buffed some of the trick/Houdini perks recently though!

They make small maps and are continuously coming out with killers that can teleport or have complete map control. Make it make sense.
9 -
Here's another odd one: I miss how you used to be able to see a teammate's aura while they were being mori'd. Nowadays the aura disappears as soon as the mori starts.
4 -
Fun and mercy are what I miss. There used to be constant goofing with killers, particularly Ghostfaces. A good 1 out of 5-10 games used to be silly for me. Now I try to bring a meme build and just stand there and throw rocks or play the lute and the killer doesn't hesitate to down me, a person who isn't even engaging with the objectives.
Ever since the introduction of the last-survivor mori, mercy is dead. I often surrender to the killer when the match is lost (Iike 3 gens remaining with me and one other person left and they're just hiding). It used to be I often got mercy. I didn't expect it, but it happened and it was nice. Now they just slug/kill me.
I kept a sort of spreadsheet the last 2 weeks or my escapes, what killers I faced, what build I brought and some other data. Out of 261 games I had only 3 goofing killer and just 4 instances of mercy.
11 -
Boon: Circle of healing, distortion, adrenaline, sufficient pallet placement, better vaulting scenarios, and being able to unhook yourself (especially when your teammates leave you on the hook for two hooks).
7 -
still my most played character in dbd according to the stats feature :(
3 -
Killers focused more on chases because old regression perks allowed that like old pop, ruin. People back then didnt rush that more they wanted chases thats why stealth isnt big option today, nowdays most tryes win with what ever it takes thats why its not funny as back then.
-4 -
I miss the old meta perks so much. I wish the devs would do a “test run buff” and bring these two and maybe other previous meta perks for killers (200% ruin and call of brine) back to their pre nerf state for like 2 weeks to see how it would affect modern dbd. I remember last year a lot of people were worried when iron will was announced to get the 100% silence back but as time went on i haven’t seen anyone complain about it and its in a healthy spot. Spine chill has been dead ever since 6.1 and got buried even deeper when the visual terror radius aspect because a base feature in the settings.
6 -
I miss bp bonuses on perks when they removed bloodpoint bonuses off of perks without actually making it easier to gain bloodpoints it sucked
survivor bp gains are still bad 9 years and counting
8 -
yeah, we can have either safe tiles or low amount of them.
1 -
Literally and suggesting a chase build to someone is like insulting their family it feels like lol
4 -
Genuinely, the old running animation
4 -
I miss how the game seemed more fair to both survivor and killer. Now most updates favor the killer, maps are smaller, gens are way closer, alot of tunneling and camping, new killers have crazy power, exit gates are often really close. I miss being able to load in for a game that lasted for a long time with good game play. Where killer and survivors seemed well matched. Even if I didn't escape those games were the best.
8 -
Just out of curiosity, what maps would you say have these problems?
-1 -
For the no fog, all of them.
For being too small/not enough usable resources, Haddonfield, Borgo, every Coldwind map, Swamp, Wreckers yard, Wretched shop, Coal Tower, Yamaoka, RPD, Dead Sands, Toba, Nostromo, Ormond Lake Mine.
7 -
Might be a bit controversial, but I really do miss old Dead Hard, I think with some tweaks, old Dead Hard could have worked in the current game, literally just limiting the number of uses like the current Dead Hard has would have been enough maybe, or maybe removing the i-frames from it could have helped, or maybe adding a small cooldown for vaulting pallets and windows could have worked, anything for my E perk.
7 -
Honestly?
Skillchecks.0 -
What do you mean by this? Genuinely curious. Where in the game were skillchecks removed?
2 -
Sabotage 🙏
3 -
I mean that the thing I miss the most are skillchecks. On gens and heals alike.
0 -
I'm not sure I'm following. Skillchecks still exist on those actions…?
1 -
I guess my joke didn't land 😓.
4 -
What do you call a Skillcheck that you don't hit
3 -
I am so dumb lol
My bad
5 -
I'm still confused. Was there something changed about the skill checks before 2021 that people are referring to here?
2 -
The joke is "missing" skillchecks as in "not succeeding them", not as in them changing at all.
2 -
I'd like blood on clothing for each hit and maybe more different moris for killers and as a survivor I'd like different generator repair sounds with the function to turn them on and off in the options. Other than that, I can't comment much yet because I haven't been playing too long, but I shared a post here on the forums from earlier about the DBD alpha and I liked that window grab animation for survivors
3 -
I've always been asscheeks at chases, which makes sense since I joined in late-2019/early-2020 which is when the shift-W meta really started to take off. But it was still much more popular at the time, which meant that genjockey and high altruism were free for the taking. I miss running my WGLF, BT, We'll Make It, Leader/BK build so much. After MMR went live, there wasn't enough mutual respect left in the game to get as much value out of that build and then 6.1.0 killed it.
Most new players have no idea how to even goof off. It's rare to have players that even know how to interact with Pig. It's strange how when the game was apparently much worse off balance-wise, we all seemed to have a lot more fun.
6 -
Spine Chill with vaulting before the Summer of ‘22 meta shake up was my GOAT. Look at how they massacred my boy 😓
0 -
Always loved being the Gen Jockey, still do.
If my teammates want to keep the killer busy, I guarantee all five gens will get done.
4 -
They tested a blood decals on clothing feature in a PTB years ago and then never implemented it. No explanation or anything. I really dont understand this dev team..
